For some reason, I absolutely loved Elisabeth Shoe's (or Shue) work in The Saint.

While I don't think that each actor/actress is always good, some fine female acting (off the top of my head) was done by (in):

Carrie-Anne Moss (Matrix, Red Planet)
Catherine Bell (JAG...yum)
CCH Pounder (The Sheild)
Juliet Lewis (The Other Sister)
Hillary Swank (Boys Don't Cry...yummy)
Halle Berry (Monster's Ball...another yum)
Angelina Jolie (Hackers and Girl, Interupted...double yum)

GG almighty, I can't believe some of the actresses mentioned in this thread! Shannen Doherty?! Good grief man, you really should lay off the drugs if they mess up your mind like that!

It's embarrasing to see a number of great actresses left out until now. So here it goes:

Ingrid Bergman - Arguably the Best
Greta Garbo
Ok, so I'm a swede and might be accused of favoritism, but you can't possibly argue that Ingrid and Greta aren't among the best actresses of all time.
Katherine Hepburn
Bringing up Audrey Hepburn - IMHO one of the most beautiful women in history - makes you wonder how you can forget Katherine who is just as deserving.

GG almighty, I can't believe some of the actresses mentioned in this thread! Shannen Doherty?! Good grief man, you really should lay off the drugs if they mess up your mind like that! I said i can't explain that rational, but her appearance in "Mallrats" just caught me. And no, it has nothing to do with psychedelic drugs. :D

What's even more funny, is that I am a black-and-white-movies-geek too. And many people are because of this worried I'm abusing drugs. :D

I'm not even Swede, but Ingrid Bergman is high on my list too. I espacially like, except for the usual "casablanca" and "anastasia", "spellbound" and "The bells of sanct mary".
"Notorious" is my absolute favourite.

"Bringing up baby" is funny too. :D

I watched Easter Parade a few days ago, and must say Judy Garland is pretty good; as is Monroe. Cameron Diaz has been in good films, but I wouldn't call her a good actress. Halle Berry and Julia Roberts (when she's in the right role) are probably the best young actresses today, in my opinion

Julia Roberts is kinda good, yes. But I think I maybe look too much on the LOOK instead of the work. Don't misunderstand me, I don't think Julia Roberts is nice looking.

P.S jimbobbibliobus. Your name is kinda long and hrd-to-spell, you may want to change it :D No offense...
