View Full Version : The Quote Game 2
Death Rabbit Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 4:12pm A new thread had to be made, because the other was ridiculously large. It's Rubedo's turn, but if he doesn't post sometime today (June 23) then someone may answer this to keep the fun a rollin'.
"Why is that toy on your head?"
"Because...if I wear it anywhere else, it chafes."
[For those who don't know the rules: Someone posts a quote from a movie (no TV shows, music, etc). If you know the movie it came from, and post the answer correctly, then and ONLY then may you post a quote of your own. Unless you're 100% sure you're correct, don't post a quote of your own until you are confirmed correct by the original quoter. Got it?]
New Rule: If it's your turn, you must respond with a new quote within 1 day (24 hours) to keep the thread going. Otherwise the thread may be hijacked by the next available impatient jackass.
Rules Amendment: If the person who's quote you've responded to does not confirm that you are correct within 24 hours of your answer, you are then assumed correct by default, provided no one else chimes in with the correct answer within that time or disputes your answer.

Rallymama Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 4:16pm Additional rules: Movie quotes only - no song lyrics, no TV, etc. Let's also codify DR's first point - if the current correct guesser takes more than 24 hours to post a new quote, anyone may post something to keep the thread going.
Falstaff Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 8:27pm Ahem - "Real Genius" is the correct movie, I believe.
Next Quote:
"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry"
Rallymama Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 9:05pm Is that truly the softball it appears to be?! Since you've posted a thread about the movie, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess "The Hulk" (no, I haven't seen it yet - but I never missed an episode when the Bill Bixby TV series was in its first run).
Try this one: "I will get over it because I am shallow and self-centered."
Falstaff Mon, 23rd Jun '03, 9:10pm Yes, it is truly the softball that it appears to be - I just had to put it out there, for the sake of my own excitement level.
Anyways, yes - you're right. Quote on:
Late-Night Thinker Tue, 24th Jun '03, 3:17am "The Big Chill"?...sounds like something from that movie
Rallymama Tue, 24th Jun '03, 5:15am Nope!
Baezlebub Tue, 24th Jun '03, 8:20am Money Pit
$400, tell him his dreaming...
Hello, yeah no, Dad reckons you're dreaming
Death Rabbit Wed, 25th Jun '03, 9:07pm I guess Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome maybe?
If not, I believe it's time for a hint.
Late-Night Thinker Wed, 25th Jun '03, 10:36pm I think it is that movie where the taxi driver marries the French chick and the chick from Friends is married to the guy who is having an affair with Mary from Something about Mary...
I am terrible with proper names...or titles for that matter.
Death Rabbit Wed, 25th Jun '03, 10:39pm @ LNT
I believe you're thinking of "She's the One." But we'll have to wait till Baelz responds.
Baezlebub Thu, 26th Jun '03, 1:32am It is an Australian movie, yes. But not Mad Max.
I'll give you another from the same movie.
"There's only one thing dad liked more than serenity. And that's a two stroke engine on full throttle."
JSBB Thu, 26th Jun '03, 3:21pm I know what the film is but I had to do a google search to find out so I am not going to answer. I will say three things/clues
(1) I think it is unlikely that anyone outside of Australia will have seen the film.
(2) It is listed on imdb.com
(3) Eric Bana had a role in the film.
Baezlebub Fri, 27th Jun '03, 5:34am I think that is a bit harsh. It was exported to other countries. The thing is, I doubt anyone outside of Australia would have UNDERSTOOD the film. By the way, if you know what it is, just answer it. I'm getting tired of posting hints.
Aikanaro Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:29pm The Castle
JSBB Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:35pm The film is The Castle. Maybe it is a bit harsh to think no one outside of Australia saw this film but quite frankly there are very few films Australian or Canadian that ever really reach a global audience. I would prove my point by posting a Canadian film quote but even Canadians tend not to watch Canadian films.
Oops, looks like I was beaten to it. Oh well, I would have felt guilty about it anyways. Take it away Aikanaro.
Aikanaro Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:47pm *laughs* Too bad mate. I got there first :p
'I cut off my hand, and its gonna kill you all!'
JSBB Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:51pm I am pretty sure that Ash doesn't say that in Evil Dead 2 so I would have to guess that it is from Idle Hands.
Aikanaro Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:55pm Dammit, Idle Hands it is.
JSBB Fri, 27th Jun '03, 1:57pm "How do I look?
Like a hood ornament!"
Oxymore Fri, 27th Jun '03, 5:57pm The rocketeer?
Splunge Fri, 27th Jun '03, 6:03pm This is a complete guess, but when I read that, for some reason I could hear Rodney Dangerfield's voice, so I'm going to say Caddyshack.
Edit: if by some fluke I'm right, but don't get confirmation of it within about 10 hours of my original post, someone else can take over since I won't be around for a few days.
[ June 27, 2003, 19:18: Message edited by: Splunge ]
Death Rabbit Sat, 28th Jun '03, 8:04am If JSBB doesn't chime in before Oxymore does, then I'll confirm that Oxymore was right, and he may proceed.
Baezlebub Tue, 1st Jul '03, 12:48pm What is it with people? This thread is actually fun, so why don't people reply?
Oxymore and JSBB, hurry it up!
Rallymama Tue, 1st Jul '03, 3:39pm See the New Rule in Death Rabbit's first post... Baelzebub, if you've got a quote in mind, fire away!
Mathetais Tue, 1st Jul '03, 3:48pm Rally ... if he posted it, wouldn't that make Baelzebub the next available impatient jackass ??? ;)
Rallymama Tue, 1st Jul '03, 3:52pm But it's been more than one day since the guess has been confirmed as correct, and nothing new has been posted... impatient, yes; jackass, no, at least not in this regard! ;)
Death Rabbit Tue, 1st Jul '03, 3:59pm * puts on impatient jackass hat *
"Freeze, you diseased rhinoceros pizzle!"
Mathetais Tue, 1st Jul '03, 4:01pm oh,oh I know! One of my favorite movies.
Semmi in Coming to America!
Am I right??? :good:
Very confident, so here is my new quote ...

Falstaff Tue, 1st Jul '03, 7:40pm Sleepy Hollow (Watched it last night!)
next quote:
"Define Irony: A bunch of guys dancing around in a plane to the music of a band that died in a plane crash." (or something really close to that)
Death Rabbit Tue, 1st Jul '03, 7:48pm Con Air. You saw it this weekend, didn't you, you little scoundrel. :D
Falstaff Tue, 1st Jul '03, 7:50pm Actually last weekend, but I had to wait until I knew one of these stumpers!!
Shoot -
Death Rabbit Tue, 1st Jul '03, 9:27pm "I'm not just a talking penis...I'm a flying penis!"
Mathetais Tue, 1st Jul '03, 9:39pm Either Point Break or Terminal Velocity.
Can't descide if this is Keanuu or Charlie.
Death Rabbit Tue, 1st Jul '03, 9:40pm Hint: Hookers & Cocaine. In abundance. (the actor, not the movie)
That should be your confirmation. Go ahead, Mat.
Mathetais Tue, 1st Jul '03, 10:22pm No hookers in Point Break, so it's Charlie Sheen in Terminal Velicoty. "Pack your bag's we're going on a guilt trip!"
New quote ....
That's not flying, that's falling with style!
Oxymore Tue, 1st Jul '03, 10:38pm Must be Toy Story.
Btw, sorry I didn't post anything earlier. I've been captured by aliens and stuff, you know how it goes. ;)
JSBB Wed, 2nd Jul '03, 1:40am @ Oxymore - You are right about Toy Story (and you were correct about The Rocketeer)
Sorry about going AWOL. I was up at the family cottage for the Canada Day long week-end and for some reason our internet connection was not working. Naturally there was no one taking calls at our ISP on the long week-end so I had to go four whole days without internet access. :(
Baezlebub Wed, 2nd Jul '03, 11:37am We really must clarify the definition of 'a day'. Does it mean, full 24 hours (as Death Rabbit stated) or the turn of the next twenty fourth hour? I really am an impatient jackass, so I want to know as soon as possible.
Rallymama Wed, 2nd Jul '03, 3:29pm I consider "a day" to mean same time, next calendar day. For example, Baezlebub, one day from your post would be July 3, 09:37 (GMT).
Mathetais Wed, 2nd Jul '03, 4:36pm Sorry for the delay Oxy .. you were right. Shoot!
Oxymore Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 10:07am "I think you've just become my personal hero!"
Death Rabbit Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 2:35pm American Beauty, right?
In case I am:
"I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack."
Iago Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 2:41pm HA ! Bingo ! Was last week on tv ! Wayne's World ! And it's actually the girl from Men in Black 2 who wants to give the gun rack as a present.
Death Rabbit Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 2:45pm Yago is correct.

Vukodlak Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 3:30pm Groundhog day :D :D :D
Death Rabbit Thu, 3rd Jul '03, 3:31pm Groundhog Day. Nice to see you in the game, Yag.
"Dad'll tell you anything to get you to go to sleep."
[edit - Dammit! The V beat me to it!!!]
Baezlebub Fri, 4th Jul '03, 3:16am Is Death Rabbit's quote valid? It was only one minute, and Vudolak didn't put one up.
Is it some feel good american family movie?
JSBB Fri, 4th Jul '03, 3:23am Personally, I say that Vukodlak should get his 24 hours as he was first but then it should default back to Death Rabbit's quote.
Of course, the fact that I know the quote and plan to jump in at the 24 hour mark if Vukodlak hasn't posted a quote has nothing to do with this opinion. :good:
Edit:
O.K. V's 24 hours is up. Death Rabbit's quote is from Goonies.
Lets try
"I'm not the first guy who fell in love with a girl he met in a restaurant, who then turned out to be the daughter of a kidnapped scientist, only to lose her to a childhood lover who she's last seen on a deserted island, and who turned out fifteen years later to be the leader of the French Underground."

Oxymore Fri, 4th Jul '03, 9:02pm That's Val Kilmer talking, but the movie title escapes me.
JSBB Fri, 4th Jul '03, 10:16pm Yes, it was Val Kilmer who said that line.
Sprite Fri, 4th Jul '03, 10:42pm Top Secret! Finally, one I know. :)
Here's mine: There's no point in walking back. The only life I saw for the past million miles were the hypnotized bunnies, and most of them are now wedged in the tires.
Arahar Sat, 5th Jul '03, 4:28am Sprite I haven't got a clue but I am going to say:
"Ha hahahahahahah aa hahahahahahaha"
Baezlebub Sat, 5th Jul '03, 10:07am Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. That movie is hilarious.
Can I pop one out?
Not until the eigth grade.
Khazraj Tue, 8th Jul '03, 4:00pm Donnie Darko.
They're dead! OK! Can I go now?
Frostmage Tue, 8th Jul '03, 4:29pm Aliens. A great movie.
"I can summon demons worse than the demons in hell!"
JSBB Wed, 9th Jul '03, 2:55am @ Frostmage - There was a line similar, but not identical (at least in the English version), to your quote in Conan the Barbarian. Please let us know if that was the film you were thinking of.
dman18 Wed, 9th Jul '03, 5:44pm Frostmages 24 hours are up, JSBB, it's your quote.
[Edit] Sorry about that SilverBlade, I thought that if he didn't confirm it in 24 hours also then the person got the quote. I was jst beinng that "next impatient jackass."
[ July 09, 2003, 18:30: Message edited by: dman18 ]
Mesmero Wed, 9th Jul '03, 5:54pm Frostmages 24 hours are up, JSBB, it's your quote. I don't think you understood 24h-rule correctly. The rule is: "If it's your turn, you must respond with a new quote within 1 day (24 hours) to keep the thread going. Otherwise the thread may be hijacked by the next available impatient jackass." It says nothing about not confirming the quote within 24 hours.
Nobody may post a new one, until Frostmages quote is guessed. It is only JSBB's turn if Frostmage says it is indeed from Conan. And will somebody please post a quote I can guess, for I know a real good one. ;)
Death Rabbit Thu, 10th Jul '03, 4:01pm Perhaps an amendment to the rules is in order.
For the sake of keeping the thread active and fun, if the person who's quote you've responded to does not confirm that you are correct within 24 hours of your answer, you are then assumed correct by default, provided no one else chimes in with the correct answer within that time or disputes your answer. For example: Since JSBB guessed, Frostmage never confirmed and no one contested JSBB's answer, it then became JSBB's turn. Since it's been over 2 days since JSBB's original post, the "next impatient jackass" clause may be evoked by...well, the next available impatient jackass. They've both forfeited their turns.
(If this is confusing, send me a PM and I'll reword it. Don't want to waste any more thread space on rules interpretation.)
So take it away...whomever. Silverblade, hopefully...looks like he's itchin'. :D
Frostmage Thu, 10th Jul '03, 4:22pm Sorry I haven't been able to answer sooner, I forgot about it. But the movie I was thinking of was indeed Conan the barbarian, so go ahead JSBB.
Death Rabbit Thu, 10th Jul '03, 4:28pm I forgot about it. Precisely why the "next impatient jackass" clause is in place. :D Looks like I'll have to evoke it.
"Looks like we're gonna need some more FBI guys, I guess."
Vukodlak Thu, 10th Jul '03, 7:01pm Die hard?

dman18 Thu, 10th Jul '03, 9:02pm Airplane!
"That's not a knife... slink, Now THAT's a knife.
Falstaff Thu, 10th Jul '03, 9:03pm Crocodile Dundee.
"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon."
Death Rabbit Thu, 10th Jul '03, 9:09pm Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. By the 3rd word I knew it. :D

Lazy Bonzo Thu, 10th Jul '03, 10:39pm Ok here's my quote:

Death Rabbit Fri, 11th Jul '03, 1:39am That you are. Proceed.
JSBB Fri, 11th Jul '03, 1:48am "Now this is my plan. Step number one, I will recruit the world's greatest criminal minds. Step number two, I will build an organization so sinister, so, so powerful, by comparison the Cosa Nostra will seem like the Vienna Boys' Choir."

"There should be no crater.
No crater? But I want a crater! I want wreckage, twisted metal, something the world will not forget!"
Its a pity Lord Keldin Depaara hasn't dropped by the thread, I am pretty sure he would have got the quote.
Late-Night Thinker Sun, 13th Jul '03, 7:53pm OK...my last guess...Spaceballs?
JSBB Sun, 13th Jul '03, 10:19pm I am afraid not.
Baezlebub Mon, 14th Jul '03, 1:59am I swear to god that I have seen that movie in the last 3 weeks, so I'm going to list the movies I saw in the slim hope that I will get it...
Reign of Fire

This may be too easy, but what the heck, I saw it on cable recently
"Now I know what I've been faking all these years"
Kitrax Mon, 14th Jul '03, 5:38am It's from Caddyshack...right? :rolling:

JSBB Mon, 14th Jul '03, 2:17pm Well, I didn't know this one so, as I often do, I looked it up but didn't post the answer.
I do find it interesting that a google search on the quote returns one result and it shows the name of the proper film after the quote but Caddyshack right before the quote. Coincidence? ;)
The Great Snook Mon, 14th Jul '03, 2:36pm Do we need to consult Tal to see if a formal investigation is in order?
I also did your google search and I saw another quote that I love from a movie I haven't seen in years.
"It happens sometimes. People just explode."*Repo Man
Mesmero Thu, 17th Jul '03, 10:40pm The quote was from Private Benjamin.
New quote:
"So the combination is one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard! That's the kind of combination an idiot would put on his luggage!"

Mine was Hercules Returns. Quite a funny movie.
Thats from that movie with Demi Moore, she shaves her head and joins the army... Whats it called?
JSBB Sat, 26th Jul '03, 6:22am That would be G.I. Jane if Baezlebub is correct about what movie it is. I might as well check as I don't have a clue and have never watched the film.
Yes, many sites have the qoute listed for G.I. Jane. Baezlebub, since you practically gave it away and since your quote was hijacked I think it is only fair if you get to post the next quote.

Apeman Mon, 4th Aug '03, 11:43pm Isn't that one from 'the Mask', when the officer finds a picture of the police captain's wife?
Don't know for sure so I'll wait for confirmation.
Loerand Mon, 4th Aug '03, 11:58pm Confirmation granted...
Baezlebub Wed, 6th Aug '03, 10:04am Hey Apeman, we're waiting. Didn't want to be the impatient jackass again.
Apeman Wed, 6th Aug '03, 12:00pm sorry people, been a way for a day, hey that rhymed :D
Here it is:
"No one understands the words that are coming out of your mouth"
Should be fairly easy.
JSBB Wed, 6th Aug '03, 2:14pm I do believe that one is from Rush Hour 2. If not it is from the original.
Lets try,
"This stuff will make you a God-damned sexual Tyrannosaurs, just like me!"
The Great Snook Wed, 6th Aug '03, 7:44pm Predator
"Gary, by the way, why are we wearing bras on our heads?"

The Great Snook Wed, 6th Aug '03, 8:49pm Hackers

As an aside, I'm very impressed with the auto censor function.
JSBB Wed, 6th Aug '03, 8:57pm Demolition Man
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue!"
The Great Snook Wed, 6th Aug '03, 9:09pm Airplane

Death Rabbit Wed, 6th Aug '03, 9:57pm Sweet! Back in the game, fellas:
"Oh, 'humped the vet,' that's real classy. I happened to have had a very spiritual experience with the future Mrs. (*name*), who yes, does happen to have a degree in the veterinary arts."
*if I said the name, you'd get it*
JSBB Wed, 6th Aug '03, 10:10pm Is that from Turner and Hooch?
Death Rabbit Wed, 6th Aug '03, 10:16pm Yup.
JSBB Wed, 6th Aug '03, 10:34pm "You know, next time you people come to drive us off our land I'm gonna find a nice piece of swamp land that's so God-afwul, maybe then you'll leave us the hell alone."
Death Rabbit Wed, 6th Aug '03, 10:40pm Maverick. Love that show.
"You could spit in a petrie dish and start a whole new civilization!"
Baezlebub Thu, 7th Aug '03, 8:39am My Fellow Americans
Gravelly, rough voice...
"Who's the owner of this here establishment?"
Rallymama Mon, 11th Aug '03, 2:36pm Per your request...
My mind is stuck on Yosemite Sam as saying this, but I can't come up with a movie where he would have done so... Hint, please!
Baezlebub Tue, 12th Aug '03, 8:25am Well, it's Clint Eastwood, and it is probably one of his best performances. Morgan Freeman is in it as well. Its towards the end.
Rallymama Tue, 12th Aug '03, 10:57am Unforgiven.
If he ever gets a word in, it'll be a major Italian victory.

"no, it's just the right size - for me that is"
Vukodlak Wed, 13th Aug '03, 11:49am Oooh Kinky!
That would be 'From Russia with Love' as Bond is about to ...erm... kiss a beautiful russian spy.
Correct?
Christopher_Lee Wed, 13th Aug '03, 11:52am blimey that was quick... your go!
Vukodlak Wed, 13th Aug '03, 12:02pm 'Shatner, Shatner, Shatner... No, We're all right, he's not in this one!'

Rallymama Wed, 13th Aug '03, 2:53pm Yo, Prof! Welcome to the BoM!
Now for a quick reminder of the rules of this game (which are laid out quite nicely at the top of P. 1):
* Movie quotes ONLY
* Correct guesser posts next quote
* If nothing new is forthcoming after 24 hours, the "Impatient Jackass" clause takes effect and anyone can jump in with a new quote.
Again, welcome!
Christopher_Lee Wed, 13th Aug '03, 3:08pm hehe! thanks rallymama - you beat me to it!
Welcome onboard Prof_Henry! :rolling:

There was."
Vukodlak Fri, 15th Aug '03, 11:16am Right, could we have a hint please? I presumne it's a SF?
Christopher_Lee Fri, 15th Aug '03, 4:12pm Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen.... can't recall the name of the film
Mathetais Fri, 15th Aug '03, 4:56pm Red Dawn?
The Great Snook Sat, 16th Aug '03, 6:36pm Red dawn it is. You are up
Mathetais Sun, 17th Aug '03, 2:05pm Sorry for the slow response ... weekend and all.
I will give you the honor of a quick and painless death. [Grabs tiny dagger, looks at it] But not with that.
Viking Sun, 17th Aug '03, 2:10pm The road to El Dorado.
"It's been emotional"
I know it's easy, but I can't be doing with some of the really obscure ones.
[Edit - Of course you were Chris. Great line from a great film.]

Vukodlak Tue, 19th Aug '03, 2:40pm OK, let me try:
'When is a dining room filled with people not a dining room filled with people?'
'When there are two dining rooms!'
'Exactly.'
Death Rabbit Wed, 20th Aug '03, 10:29pm Hint, please. I have a good one.
Christopher_Lee Thu, 21st Aug '03, 11:10am Murder by Death I think...
(Death Rabbit can have it if it is :) )
Vukodlak Thu, 21st Aug '03, 11:24am Yup, it's murder by death. Nice to hear someone else saw it - very funny film.
So - go death rabbit.
Death Rabbit Thu, 21st Aug '03, 5:43pm Huh. Never heard of it. :( I feel wierd taking a turn I didn't earn, but oh well I'll get over it. Thanks Mr. Lee.
"Twelve milkmen IS theoretically possible. Thirteen is just plain silly."
Vukodlak Fri, 22nd Aug '03, 4:10pm OH! I remember that film - it's one of the worst and most unfunny films I ever saw (and I saw it three times :D ) Ted went off to make the matrix - look what happened to Bill.
That quote would be from 'Freaked'.
How bout this:
'I've been away from my children for too long!'
The Great Snook Fri, 22nd Aug '03, 10:16pm Freddy vs. Jason.
"Ok, you people! Sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we're not back by dawn... call the president"
Silverwolf86 Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 2:16am OH!! Wait I know this!! (I think) Is it Big Trouble in Little China??? I've seen that movie like once but it seems to be jumping out at me.
The Great Snook Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 2:41am Correct. It is Big Trouble in Little China.
You are up.
Silverwolf86 Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 2:45am No no!! "Rare" implies dangerously cooked. When I say rare I mean let it look at the oven in terror, then bring it out to me!
Baezlebub Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 4:09am 10th Kingdom
See this? This is my boomstick! It's a twelve gauge double-barreled Remington, S-Mart's top-of-the-line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop Smart. Shop S-mart. Ya got that?! Now I swear, the next one of you primates, even touches me...
Kam Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 4:20am That would be from Army of Darkness. Love that movie...
Silverwolf86 Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 5:10am @ Baezelbub -- correct of course. (Wolfy forever :D )
Baezlebub Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 4:45pm Kam, you're right. Knock yourself out.
Army of Darkness is a rockin' movie. If you haven't seen that movie, go and do it right now.
Kam Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 6:38pm Whoo hoo! :D Okay, here goes: "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." Okay, good luck.
Oxymore Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 7:00pm Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo.
Clint's best movie.
Baezlebub Tue, 26th Aug '03, 9:04am For those that don't know, thats
"The good, the bad and the ugly"
Oxymore, go.
Oxymore Tue, 26th Aug '03, 3:10pm Am I an impatient jackass now? :D
Here it goes:
Don't mock me my friend. It's a condition of mental divergence. I find myself on the planet Ogo, part of an intellectual elite, preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. But even though this is a totally convincing reality for me in every way, nevertheless Ogo is actually a construct of my psyche. I am mentally divergent, in that I am escaping certain unnamed realities that plague my life here. When I stop going there, I will be well. Are you also divergent, friend?
The Great Snook Tue, 26th Aug '03, 10:29pm Twelve monkeys
"Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part."
JSBB Wed, 27th Aug '03, 1:12am Isn't that from Animal House?
The Great Snook Wed, 27th Aug '03, 3:02am But of course. I posted that one in honor of the 25th anniversery DVD coming out.
You are up.
JSBB Wed, 27th Aug '03, 4:01am "These exercises are fantastic. When the day comes that we have to go to war against Utah we are really going to kick ass!"
DarkGoddess Wed, 27th Aug '03, 6:59am That's from Broken Arrow! I love that movie!
Ok, now for my quote. This is my first time doing this, so it may be ridiculously easy. "Funny, for that type of work, I'd thought you'd be bigger." Good luck!

Aikanaro Thu, 28th Aug '03, 9:34am *Takes a guess* Deuse Bigalow, Male Gigolo?
DarkGoddess Fri, 29th Aug '03, 6:20am No, Aiky, but good guess!
JSBB Fri, 29th Aug '03, 6:37pm I have this strange feeling that the quote is from one of the films that TBS has aired a billion and a half times over the last few years but I can't quite place it. My best guess would be that it is from Road House.
Mathetais Fri, 29th Aug '03, 7:38pm I was thinking it was a cheesy action flick and I think your right ... didn't the doctor girl say that to Patrick Swazye aka Dalton?
DarkGoddess Sat, 30th Aug '03, 7:17am It is Roadhouse. Hee hee hee. Good movie, a bit overplayed though. JSBB, you're up.
JSBB Sun, 31st Aug '03, 8:53pm How about we try
"What the hell was that?
What does it mean when there is a picture of a skull?
Oh, good stuff!"
Sir Ai Rayzor Sun, 31st Aug '03, 9:49pm Im probably wrong here... but "From Hell" ?
The Great Snook Sun, 31st Aug '03, 10:24pm No, it is a Jackie Chan flick. I believe it was Drunken master or something like that.
"How sexy am I now, huh? Flirty boy! How sexy am I now?"
As a hint it was on an HBO this weekend.
JSBB Mon, 1st Sep '03, 5:34am It was from The Legend of Drunken Master, which is the sequal to Drunken Master but close enough. Your quote is from Natural Born Killers.
My quote is
"Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears right about now. "
Falstaff Mon, 1st Sep '03, 6:35am Dogma - great flick - I love all of Kevin Smith's movies.
Next Quote:
"When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV."
The Great Snook Mon, 1st Sep '03, 6:58pm Possibly one of the greatest movies of all time.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
"You are certainly the most distinguished group of highway scofflaws and degenerates ever gathered together in one place "
Rallymama Tue, 2nd Sep '03, 2:32pm Thanks for the softball! Cannonball Run, but of course...
A softball in return: "Of course! If it was a snake it would have bitten me!"
Baezlebub Thu, 4th Sep '03, 9:41am I'm thinking bladerunner, but i think thats a different quote.
Mum says it might be Grease. Is this right?
Rallymama Thu, 4th Sep '03, 1:49pm Nope!
ps - nor is it Bladerunner...
Mesmero Thu, 4th Sep '03, 2:07pm My first thought was also Grease, there was something like it in that movie.
I think your quote is from Superman, but I'm not sure.
Rallymama Thu, 4th Sep '03, 2:11pm Nope again! I'm not sure that I can give a hint that won't give it away entirely... let me work on it...
Baezlebub Fri, 5th Sep '03, 2:31am Awaiting that hint (I replied so that you could).
Rallymama Fri, 5th Sep '03, 2:07pm Hmmm, if only our DVD player was hooked up so that I could've found another quote that isn't on IMDB.com! (http://www.imdb.com) There's one hint - it's one of my personal favorite moves. The line I posted is said by the main character. The movie is older than most of you here (1984). It has a star-packed cast.
How about this line:
Main Char: [Char1], give her your jacket.
Char1: Why me?
Main Char: Because you're perfect.
BigStick Fri, 5th Sep '03, 2:58pm Rallymama - That sounds like it could be out of Breakfast Club, but that came out in 1985....
Rallymama Fri, 5th Sep '03, 3:25pm Oh. My. God. You people are absolutely killing me, do you know that?! Keep guessing, and if no one's gotten it by the time I get back from my hair appointment, I'll post a whole bunch of giveaways...
Shrikant Fri, 5th Sep '03, 4:02pm The only 1984 movie I remember is Terminator.
Rallymama Fri, 5th Sep '03, 7:39pm  :shame: :nono:
Another quick hint - did anyone ever think about what inspired my "location"? All right, here are your giveaways...
“May I pass along my congratulations for your great interdimensional breakthrough. I am sure, in the miserable annals of the Earth, you will be duly enshrined.”
“You can check your anatomy all you want, and even though there may be normal variation, when it comes right down to it, this far inside the head it all looks the same. No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.”
“Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”
“Sealed with a curse as sharp as a knife. Doomed is your soul and damned is your life.”
“Damn John Whorfin and the horse he rode in on!”
“I've been ionized, but I'm okay now.”
“Why is there a watermelon there?” “I’ll tell you later.”
“Laugh-a while you can, monkey boy!”
“Shut up, Big-booty, you coward! You are the weakest individual I ever know!”
“John Valuk is dead, he fell on his head.”
“It's not my goddamn planet, understand, monkey boy?”
“Buckaroo, I don't know what to say. Lectroids? Planet 10? Nuclear extortion? A girl named "John"?”
“History is-a made at night! Character is what you are in the dark!”
“I don't give a flying handshake what your name is!”
“Buckaroo, The White House wants to know is everything ok with the alien space craft from Planet 10 or should we just go ahead and destroy Russia?” “Tell him yes on one and no on two.” “Which one was yes, go ahead and destroy Russia...or number 2?”
“Home...home is where you wear your hat...I feel so breakup, I wanna go home.”
“We are not in the Eighth dimension, we are over New Jersey. Hope is not lost.”
Splunge Fri, 5th Sep '03, 7:50pm Buckaroo Banzai? (sp?)
Rallymama Fri, 5th Sep '03, 7:53pm But of course! Take it away, Splunge!
Splunge Fri, 5th Sep '03, 8:02pm Finally, I got one! (Although I needed every one of the hints.)
Because I'm lazy, another softball (for some people anyway):
"She turned me into a newt."
"A newt?
"I got better."
BigStick Fri, 5th Sep '03, 8:15pm Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
Splunge Fri, 5th Sep '03, 8:19pm I said it was a softball - I'm just amazed you beat Death Rabbit to it. It's all yours, BigStick.
BigStick Fri, 5th Sep '03, 8:24pm Timing is everything. :p
OK, here goes:
"Newlyweds. What else do they do but make love and war?"
The Great Snook Sat, 6th Sep '03, 4:36am A walk in the clouds.
This may not be an exact quote, but it is pretty close.
"Coach, winning four straight super bowls with all white teams is damn impressive."

Rallymama Thu, 11th Sep '03, 2:09pm @Beazlebub:
Danny DeVito = stupid movieI can think of only one instance where you're wrong on that. Have you ever seen "War of the Roses"?
