I don't want to be offensive to anyone out there, but what is the geekiest name you have ever heard? Eugene takes the bill for me.

Screen names consisting exclusively of random ASCII signs, none of which in the range 65-90.

Death Rabbit

Yeah, I once knew this kid named "Morningstar,"... :D

There's a newscaster in Utah named 'Twinkle Chism."

Other than that, nyone named after an obscure biblical figure kinda invites emotional problems, I'd say.

Wadsworth. It's gotta be Wadsworth.

Oh, and Death Wabbit, I knew a dude whose parents almost named him Deuteronomy.

Eugene is a Greek name. It means "politeness" and "gentleness". But the way it is pronounced in English is... strange.

Sir Belisarius
Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:26pm
Eugene actually sounds cool in Russian...It's Yevgeny.

chevalier
Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:59pm
The strange Russian sound is still closer to the original Greek one ;)

My middle name is Stewart. Yes, you read correct, Stewart. I have never met a cool Stewart in my whole entire life. When I was a kid there was a dude with the first name Stewart on my little league team and HE PISSED HIS PANTS! At like age ten. From that day on I knew I must hide this middle moniker tragedy that my father just HAD to pass on to me.

And oh...DONT'T NAME YOUR KIDS AFTER YOURSELVES!!!

I am 23 and still referred to as Davey in my family. Being a junior sucks.

Hey, brothers name is Stuart, and hes not a screw up :D ;) (maybe its the different spelling?)

Late-Night Thinker
Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:26pm
Yes it has to be the one with the combination of "Stew" and "Wart". The combined geekiness of these two words leads to geekdom of unprecidented proportions...namely Stewart.

Buford
Sheldon (remember "When Harry Met Sally"?)
Kermit
Wallace
Vern
And, no disrespect to my beloved mother, but "Virginia" should be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

My grandfather was saddled with the name James Leroy. Leroy. What a name. So what did he do? He named his tiny little son James Leroy Jr. My uncle has never forgiven him.
Eustace it pretty bad. My great-grandmother is Hedwig Frances, and I pity her immensely. Oh, and Virgil. Virgil is about as geeky as they come.

What's so geeky about Stewarts?

Explanation: Stuart is exactly the same name as Stewart, only the spelling is younger (16th century) and Frenchified. The meaning is what steward used to mean and it's sort of major-domo or bailie. Basically, Stewards held the office of Lord Stewart of Scotland before they made it to the throne in 1317.

There's quite a lot of genuine Stewarts, but they just share some ancestors with the royal Stewart/Stuart line and therefore have no title at all. Some are even descended from earlier Stuart kings (before James VI/I became the king of England in 1603), but in Scottish or English system the status of prince isn't hereditary, it's just given to up to grandchildren of a monarch in legitimate male line, so those Stewarts are plain 'misters' too.

So, will someone tell me what's geeky in this name? Apart from the obvious fact that making names after surnames is morbid.

Hmm...well...I'm not sure about the history of the name Stewart...but I can pronounce it

Stew...wart

Think about it...

How many women have been overheard saying "I want a man who is tall, dark, and named Stewart..."

Lord Keldin Depaara, Virginia is derived from Vergina, a place of great archeological value. In Vergina there is the tomb of Philippos II, father of Alexander the Great(not me :p ).
And what's wrong with Wallace?

Eustace is also a Greek name.

The geekiest Greek name is Sultana.

I knew a guy whose last name was Scuds. His daughter was called Amber.

I heard of a nurse whose family name was Rubberneck.

And I kid you not, but the "worstest" name I ever heard of was a family name "Clitoris" with the emphasis on the second syllable.

There was a girl down the street called "Skylene".

My sister new a mother who had two sons called "Conan" and "Rambo". (How sad if they grew up to be very feminine...)

Clutterbuck and Cockburn are fairly sad last names...

I can only think about italian names, but if you try to read them in english they would probably sound funny anyway:
Eustacchio
Alberigo
Ermenegilda

About funny combinations of first and last names: once I found on written on Milan's yellow pages "Generoso Bocchino", which translated means "Generous Bl#wjob"!!!! And you were talking about allowed parents killing... :p

Hmmm...yes. This could be true. But there are so many Greek names used in English, and thus they change a bit, that I thought Virginia could be a Greek name.
