Braveheart
Usual Suspects
Red Dawn
Ghost Busters
Ivonhoe
A Few Good Men
Alien & Aliens (the rest are weak)
Saving Private Ryan
The Right Stuff

Star Trek II
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Lord Balduran Wed, 11th Oct '00, 2:41am Voltric, are you talking about the 90 minute cheeser version of Ivanhoe, or the 5 hour A&E movie? I have the A&E movie (and you wouldn't believe how much they charged for it!). One of the best movies ever made.
Other favorites:
Dark City - very surrealistic graphics
Phantasm (just the first two, it got lame after that) - The Tall Man will never die!
Nightmare on Elm Street 1 - the only good one despite what, 8 sequels?
pretty much anything Monty Python
the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - I can't understand why this didn't win any academy awards ;). BTW, does anyone know where I can get the second tv series? Please? <pathetic grovelling>
Live at Pompeii - watch Pink Floyd's Drummer order breakfast! ok, not really a movie, but cool nonetheless :D
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Sean Connery was brilliant as Indy's dad.
Beastmaster 1 - whatever you want to say about the acting, you have to admit the bad guys were the coolest! I loved those bird-type things that dissolved people, and the berserkers that go nuts when you put a radioactive slug in their ear (well, who wouldn't?)
Kiss meets the phantom in the park - found it on ebay! One of the (unintentionally) funniest movies ever made! It looks like they drew the special effects on the film wih a magic marker. Watch Kiss battle their evil clones!
Superfuzz - a hilarious cheesy 70's movie. Not sure if it was intended to be funny, but hey, it works for me. I laughed until I cried.
There's more, but most are already on a list above...

Gunthar Sun, 15th Oct '00, 5:18am Dragonheart was a bunch of crap. Sean Connery can't seem to quite keep his dentures in place when he talks and spouts a lot of crap. Not that I totaly dislike him. He was the best Bond. The worst being that chimp George Lazenby, totaly un-Bondlike. Other good stuff includes The Matrix, The Star Wars movies (except the most recent awful one), anything done by Monty Python, anything with Leslie Neilson. A Bridge Too Far and The Longest Day were both great war movies. The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy was good too, but they should have done more than just the first two books. Gotta love that Slartybarfast, he designed Norway you know. To conclude, all the Lethal Weapons movies suck.
[This message has been edited by Gunthar (edited October 15, 2000).]
Voltric Mon, 16th Oct '00, 4:51pm It's hard to see how your taste can be so good and so bad at the sametime. Yes Dragonheart was junk, but Sean is a great actor. He did great work in the Bond movies, The Rock, IJ III the last crusade. I agree that A Bridge Too Far and The Longest Day are both great. But the first Lethal weapon is a great movie. I agree it goes down hill afer that, but the first one was a real good movie.
hooligan_inc Sat, 28th Oct '00, 2:08pm (Sigh, I'll say it another time...)
DRAGONHEART IS NOT JUNK!!
DAMMIT!
Sapiryl Sat, 28th Oct '00, 9:26pm I agree with hooligan.
Besides Dragonheart (which is a great movie),
Matrix
Enemy of the State
Star Wars 4 and 5 (1 wasn't all that great, and I hate Ewoks)
Terminator 1 and 2
Predator
Down Periscope
Saving Private Ryan
Lethal Weapon
There are plenty more that aren't live action, like Transformers the Movie, Ghost in the Shell, Macross.

Voltric Mon, 30th Oct '00, 2:02pm Ghost Busters I was one of the best movie ever made but GB2 made me want to crawl out of the theater. It was real bad. I forget about princess bride & Big Trouble in little China. They were both great films. But Mortal Kombat... What a waste of film. :(
On another note Macrose was the best Japanimation I have ever seen. Let me rephrase that it was the best storyline I've never seen. I think some others have better artwork.

Sniper Wed, 29th Nov '00, 11:41pm Yeah yeah whatever!
Vile Sun, 3rd Dec '00, 3:12am Sylvus: LOL, you are a true man! The Lion King was one of my favorite movies. I'm not afraid to admit it.
I like so many movies I don't even know where to start; and, I know I'll leave many out on accident so I'll just say that I agree with most of the movies already mentioned above.
Blackthorne TA Sun, 3rd Dec '00, 3:40am Not too many Westerns on the lists above... Anyone see "Silverado"? A very fun movie and one of the better of the more modern Westerns IMO.
Sylvus Moonbow Sun, 3rd Dec '00, 4:03am The Unforgiven Blackthorne TA. If you haven't seen this yet, it is a must if you are a western movie fan. Clint Eastwood is so perfect in his role and by the end, boy does he seriously fit the bill to a perfect 10!
One of my favorite "western" movies of all time. Very well done.
Syl...
Blackthorne TA Sun, 3rd Dec '00, 4:31am Definitely agree Syl, very good movie; I think yours was the only list that had a Western. Silverado was a different kind of movie; more of a classic group of heros coming together through different circumstances and different purposes to right the wrongs in a town run by evildoers. Very fun, and for some of the characters, you're unsure as to thier allegiance until you see them come down firmly on one side or the other. Very well done in both acting and story and star studded as well:
Kevin Costner
Scott Glenn
Danny Glover
Kevin Kline
Brian Dennehy
Rosanna Arquette
John Cleese
Jeff Goldblum
Sir Belisarius Mon, 4th Dec '00, 1:28pm Silerrado was a god flick! Well, I love movies, but he's my top 15 - in no particular order:
1 Star Wars Quadrology (Did I just make up a word?)
2 Jaws
3 Saving Private Ryan
4 The Breakfast Club
5 Alien
6 Star Trek 2: Wrath o' Kahn
7 Apocalypse Now
8 Braveheart
9 Bladerunner (original version: I liked Deckard's narration)
10 The Matrix
11 3 O'clock High
12 Seven Samurai
13 Raiders of the Lost Ark
14 El Cid
15 Godfather 1 & 2
I could probably list another 15 easily though...This was off the top of my head.

Ghostbusters is pretty good too, but didn't make it to my list. Never ever want to hear about Ghostbusters 2 as it's one of the worst films I've seen.
Am I the only one who thinks Matrix was bad and that my grandmother can act better than that loser in the main role? :p
The Deviant Mage Tue, 17th Jul '01, 9:31pm Anyone who likes the Matrix has to go check out Dark City. Imagine the Matrix in Gotham City with way creepier bad guys(albeit no martial arts to speak of).

fuoco Fri, 17th Aug '01, 12:22am generally i like thought-provoking rather than your summer blockbusters. here goes:
american beauty - a story about your average man and his emancipation, bittersweet ending. brilliant movie.
notting hill - it's a dumb story but i just like it.
the usual suspects - it hits you at the end.
xiu xiu the sent down girl - about a girl's loss of innocense and a man's (eunauch) unconsummated love for her. very moving.
crouching tiger hidden dragon - i liked the bamboo fighting sequence alot and the fabulous soundtrack.
schindler's list - this movie was quite an eye opener. I thought that it was very detailed historic movie. Schindler wasn't the kind of savior i thought he was.
Count Morgul Fri, 17th Aug '01, 1:30am How come nobody mentions Mr.Bean or Shrek.
heh, my first post
Kitiara Fri, 17th Aug '01, 2:01am ok here we go
Natural Born Killers
Matrix
Princess Bride
House on Haunted Hill
The Haunting
Big Daddy
Fight Club
Legend
Highlander
Star Trek Generations
And many more
Psycho. the fanged rabbit Sat, 18th Aug '01, 5:49pm Ok how old are you Count Morgul because I thought both of those movies were little kid humor (4-9). Bean a little bit more so I'm sorry to anyone who is a fan of Bean but I do not think he is funny.
