I have not had my truck for more than three days and it has already been broken into. I haven't had time to get my alarm yet.

They pried off the plastic part around the door handle so that they could get to the lock and open my door.(leaving an unsightly gash in the paint)

They then proceeded to take off my dash board and steel my custom CD player. I had nothing else of value in the truck (thank God I didn't put all of my CDs in there), so they proceeded then to break into at least two other cars in the area.

To make matters worse, I don't have any documentation on the CD player to give to my insurance company! All that I know is that it is an Alpine CD player and is an older modle so I can't find it on the internet either.

If anyone knows of a place I can look, I'd be very thankful.

Sorry to hear it dude. Getting ripped off sucks. It makes you feel vulnerable and victimized.
At least they didn't take the truck.

I think it was more of a spur of the moment kinda thing, because my nieghbor across the street had his Bronco broken into and they took a whole lot more than what I lost... (CD player, amp, subs, one of his friends rifles)

They think that it was one of his "friends" (strategically placed quotations...) who knew he had the system and didn't have an alarm. They might have just seen my truck and taken it at the last minute.

I know why they didn't take the vehicles... It is because the punishment is far more intense than just theft... If you are caught for stealing, you only get probation.

Sorry to hear that the stuff in your truck got stolen and that your truck got damaged. Stealing sucks; the idiots who do it usually don't feel bad about and also probably feel clever for pulling it off. Getting stolen from is just humiliating to someone, even only if a buck or two is stolen, because it means that that thief has absolutely no respect for your property or your dignity.

*UPDATE*

I now know of 3 confirmed vehicles that have been broken into on my street last night with the possibility of a forth.

These guys do this for a living. My nieghbor across the street from me had $3000+ of equipment out of his Bronco. I'm guessing that it happened around 5:00 a.m. :
1. Because I woke up for some unexplained reason at 5:15.
2. Because one person who was stolen from was in thier garage until 3:00 a.m.

The thing that really made me think is the first one, because I am an extreamly heavy sleeper and don't ever know if there was a storm the night before or anything of that nature.

My estimates for time it took to clean out 3-4 vehicles: 15-20 mins. maximum.

Man, bummer to hear that, especially on a 3 day old vehicle.
Yep, those are pros, they don't even really see it as a crime anymore, just a job. They probably targeted one of the nearby vehicles that had a lot of stuff in it, then made a sweep to see what else they could get.
Also, keep in mind that a lot of custom equipment is not cevored by insurance. I have had to hedge way too many times about custom installed stereos because I dont have the license to tell tehm they're probably out of luck.
Dont keep anything valuable in your car folks. And never leave CD's in it. Those CD cases are neon signs to car thieves that there's a CD player to be had.

Wow, does that suck.

You know, for a small fortune you can have flame jets installed in your truck, which will activate during a theft-in-progress...

Just attach 3 high power supplies to your car. Leave it in an criminalized neighbourhood. Sit back and watch the show

Well, it could have been worse right? Atleast you didn't lose the truck. My family already lost 2 cars because of stupid guys like that. Now we unhappily use public transportation... waaah!!! :wail:

Stefania, I think that you are right. As I said before, my nieghbor had a bunch of equipment taken out of his Bronco, so I think that they sent one of thier guys to check out all of the other vehicles on the street near by. (there are many) Mine still has the temorary lisence on the back window of the car even.

I just got an estimate of what they took from my truck and it was arund $400 (I am lucky).

Hmm... flamethrowers... saw that on a TV show once... heh heh heh...

Now I have also learned from a friend that lives in the area that this is the second night in a row that this kind of thing has happened. That just pisses me off... :flaming:

Please excuse a post from a complete stranger... :heh:

I've had something like that happen. One night someone broke into (heck, they didn't need to break in, they just opened the door to) my mom's (unlocked) car and stole the CDs and changer-thingy (luckily not the CD player itself), her cell phone, and some bottles of wine. (That last thing makes me suspect some dumb college kids...) The reason the car was unlocked that night? We'd lived there for over five years, during which time mom got to know and trust the neighbors and we thought we lived in a safe neighborhood. A lesson in not letting down your gaurd.

The weird thing is, I had stayed up all night reading and didn't hear a thing. Then again, my room is in the back of the house. I got mom to write me a note to stay out of school that day (cause of the theft, she forces me to go to school no matter how late I stay up, which she TRIES to discourage) and since I was running on the sleep I had caught in classes from the day before :coffee: I think I over-reacted a bit (or reacted normally, I tend to under-react). I got a hiking stick to defend myself with and my brother's REALLY old *toy* shotgun to threaten anyone who came to the door (I sorta twisted around that saying, "they always return to the scene of the crime"), but my dad convinced me that it was dumb (that they might shoot me if they were carrying a gun) and we went to the police to report it. There's still no word from them, come to think of it...

Little to no relevence, but it is certainly unpleasant to be robbed from. Bad thieves! :nono:

I remember earlier this summer a couple of friends and I were outside at like 11 at night and lucky it was fun because a bunch of drunk drivers were out that night for some reason. Well anyways we were all having fun because these drunks were chasing around in there trucks and cars (me and my friends are dumb you would think a normal person would go inside) while we were on our bikes and we always ditched them ( we are smart enough to ditch them). So we are doing this we see this group of kids walking down the road and they seem like they are following us so we ditched. Well we came back and they were down at the end of the street (we never saw them up close so we did not see there face or exactly how big they were). Well we hung out infront of my buds driveway and his nieghbor came out and starting fallowing us so we figuared scence it was late so all my friend ran except for me and my friend (we no longer had our bikes on us). Me and my friend just walked and the nieghbor followed and we all went into another friends house. The nieghbor just sat outside my friends house and pulled out a cell and started calling the cops. So me and the friend i walked with talked the other guys into going out there and talking to him and finding out what was up. He ignored us and kept on talking to the cops telling them we stole his cds from his car. That's when I cut in and told him we did not do it but I think I know who did and I told him about the kids at the end of the street (yes it was me out of all the like 7 kids)(I'm the main talker in my group I do all the talking and my buds just follow along) he believed me (thank god) and he went home.
The next day I found out these group of kids did not only steal those cd's they vandalized all over my nieghborhood. They wrote racist comments on this black guys window with spray paint, they broke into a house and took a tv, they egged like 5 houses, they broke into to another car and took more cds, and they broke into yet another car this time they took a fire hydrent thingy can't think of the name (note in this car there was the keys for the car in the car and they did not take the car) they used the fire extinguesher (that's the name) and the sprayed it all over the next door nieghbors garage (it was open) and the other nieghbors and then dropped the can in the yard. That's how they found who did it they got finger prints. What a bunch of retards.
That was one of my longest posts ever on sorcerers place and it was about a little story sorry I can really make things drag on.
