Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the Different Processors available.
Pentium III & 4, AMD Athalon, Celeron.
Thanks for the Heads up on IV vs 4.

The only difference I know anything about at the moment is price, AMD is a whole lot cheaper than Intel at the moment. Although Intel has announced that they will lower prices from 23 august to be able to compete with AMD's prices.

I am thinking of buying the AMD Athalon processor myself. Because at the moment it is the best at the best price....

Actually, there are tech differences between Pents and Athlons. Differences are based on differen cache levels, and I wont quote any smart facts, for, honestly, I do not completely understand everything myself . As far as I got with researches, Athlons usually show better performance for the same price. Celerons are essentially 'lite' versions of 3rd Pents - decent performance, with certain limitations.
Now, I'd go for buying Athlon rather than Pent4 (they insist its '4', not 'IV' - some marketing trick :)) given the speed is same, but 'tis purely my opinion.
