View Full Version : Pleasantly surprised?
Viking Sun, 17th Nov '02, 2:48am I've just been to an evening do, black tie, the whole works.
Best mate couldn't be there and girlfriend couldn't be there through work. :(
So, I went, table of 8, 3 of whom I'd never spoken with before although I can't rule out having met them at some stage.
The coneversation was great. The food was good. The band was great. Overall an excellent evening!
Have you ever had that negative feeling going into something and then been 100% pleasantly surprised? Please tell.
Falstaff Sun, 17th Nov '02, 10:08am Hmmm...
Would have to be the last blind date I was set up on. I hate blind dates, but my buddy said that this one would be great.
Well, I went into it expecting the worst, but came out of it with the girl I have been with for the last two years of my life.
Not too bad, I guess...
Z-Layrex Sun, 17th Nov '02, 11:35am Hmm... can't really think of any major ones right now, but when I was in America, we went into a Dennys, i'd heard bad things about that chain, but when I actually tried the food (a cheeseburger actually) it was great! :) Not much I know, but it was nice in its own little way.
Pac man Sun, 17th Nov '02, 1:35pm That happens quite often. When you're really looking forward to something, a lot of the times it's not what you expected, while at other occasions you have the time of your life, and you expected nothing of it. Just like what happened to you now.
Yerril Sun, 17th Nov '02, 3:00pm And the lesson to be learned from this?
Never look forward to anything.
:D
Pac man Sun, 17th Nov '02, 3:26pm Or: expect the least, have the most fun. :D
8people Sun, 17th Nov '02, 4:19pm Or: Sacrifice your social life and never go out anywhere!
Works for me ;)
ejsmith Sun, 17th Nov '02, 6:05pm Or: Drink the most, and fear nothing?
8people Sun, 17th Nov '02, 7:27pm I'm all for that!
I had the reverse happen to me once
I went to a disco (strange, I know.) for my friends last ever birthday in the UK (she moved to Spain) it was a double party and both people invited 100 different people. 25 people turned up altogether - one was a boy, 2 were birthday girls, there was Hanny and I who came for Lucie, 15 people kept leaving and walking off and five people were bored for most the time because they refused to dance.
Lazy Bonzo Sun, 17th Nov '02, 8:11pm Hmmm something very like this happened this weekend to me. On friday i went over to my dads (my parents split up just under 2 years ago and i alternate between houses). I hadn't seen my girlfriend for some time and she'd told me that she had c/w to do this weekend. Then just after if finish my tea (mash potato, fried eggs, baked beans, sausages and lots of ketchup - at my dads i eat the best food, it may be unhealthy but it's still great tasting!) and i get a text from my girlfriend saying that she can meet me YAY. We met up and was a lot of fun :) :) :) :)
