View Full Version : Fired!
Headbanger Mon, 27th May '02, 4:22pm Hello all. I just heard on the office that two of our 3 offices will be closed. I know some here know that I work in the helldesk.... I can tell you that on 1 oktober, I will no longer be a helldesk-kiddo anymore :)
Just wanted to let you know all this :)
Ragusa Mon, 27th May '02, 5:55pm My condolences :(
A while ago I had a job in a company where they fired the network admin because some smart manager found out he was unproductive and just a cost factor (yes, the lazy ass didn't sell anything  ). He stated that they haven't had a major system breakdown in two years, so the company had wasted money on him long enough ... ... I was there when he told that and I was ROTFLMAO ... :D That was when I decided to leave since I lost my trust in the management ... ;)
Sir Belisarius Mon, 27th May '02, 6:00pm Dude - That sucks!!! If I ever have a company large enough to need a helldesk person...I'll email you!
I'm right there with you, unfortunately. I still haven't found the job I want! Are you going to take some time off, or are you going to start looking immediately? At they did give you a long notice.
Headbanger Mon, 27th May '02, 6:05pm Hehe, I'm glad I finally lose my helldesk-kiddo-reputation.
To be serious, it is pretty bad for some people here at work but for me it isn't. I'm only 20 and really have to do a study. I planned to stop but couldn't yet turn back to a life with less money. Now I have to, and when I will stop with twork in Oktober, they have to give me some more money too. For I work here for 2,5 year, I get 3 months of payment instead of 1 (3000 euros). With that I can easily pay school.... Yes that's right... I plan to go back to school!
Mathetais Mon, 27th May '02, 6:26pm Marnix ... I hope the return to school is good for you. The Lord moves us sometimes when we won't move ourselves! ;)
One thing to remember while you are pursing that degree ... "The truly educated never graduate!" ;)
ArchAngel Mon, 27th May '02, 11:05pm Aww poor thing. At least you don't sound sad about it. Actually I never though of you as the helldesk boy. Far from it. And not to the worse I might add :) And hey about money. bake your own bread and shop only once a week. Always have cheap beer at home :)
Faerus Stoneslammer Mon, 27th May '02, 11:45pm "Don't let schooling interfere with education."
Well, now you have a chance to do what you "really" wanted to do.
Arabwel Tue, 28th May '02, 11:23am My conolences as well. So now you are going to do that 2,5 hours school/20 hours of work per week thing?
Ara
(Trying to not to fall apart)
Headbanger Tue, 28th May '02, 11:44am well it's hard to go back to a life without money at all :) I consider a part time study of 2 or 3 days a week.... and 16 or 20 hours work per week :)
Arabwel... no pictures of me with a headset on my head anymore ;)
Jack Funk Tue, 28th May '02, 11:35pm Bummer man. Hopefully this will free you up to do something that you enjoy even more.
Good luck.
