I was just wondering if there are any woodworkers here at SP, rather a pro...or just a wannabie. I would also like to see a pic of your work...if possible.

I take great pride in my ability to work with wood. Sadly, I don't have a working scanner...so I can't post any pictures of my work, but I'll list everything I've ever built/turned.
A pair of oak nightstands Two "Roll Top" bread boxes...one alder, the other maple Four to five 6" X 20" shelves A massive 12" X 11" X 8' oak shelf for my bishop I built an entire kitchen out of solid alder for my drafting teacher Several Sword/dagger plauqes A really big curio cabinet made out of solid alder, that I designed myself The computer desk I am siting at right now A small entertainment center for my brother 2 very large displly cases for the school Several alder napkin holders A maple chest...about the size of a large duffel bag A aniversery clock for my parents 30th aniversery Several slim-line pens made out of several different exotic woods Four to five wooden vases made out of aler, oak, or cherry And a few baseball bats I also helped most of the woods 1 students with their projects when I would skip class to be in the shop.
How did I have time to make all that stuff? That's easy...my Junior, and Seinor years, I skiped several calses a day; and I often stayed after school for a few hours. On the average day durring my junior/senior years, I spent about 3-4 hours each day in the wood shop.
.
I took a woods 1 class as a sophmore, and after 1 semester, I was moved up to Advanced Cabinet Making/Millwork, (which was the high school's highest woods class) which I was enrolled in for the next two years.
.
Well...I have boasted about my skills, now it's your turn. That is, IF you have any woodworking skills... :rolling:

I tried making a wooden DvD rack in woodwork, but alas it snapped halfway through making it. The only thing i've ever made succesfully is a carrier bag holder.

I made a small crossbow that fired little bits of wood, but the arms broke cause it was so weak.

Hmmm...the only thing I made that has ever been broken was the curio cabinet. It was so big that when it was being brought into my house, my dad lifted in a spot that wasn't meant for lifting, so now the face fram has a crack all the way down it. :rolling:

Err, I made a cutting-board once, in grade school.

Quiet you!! My parents liked it anyway, or maybe it was just hard for them to find a way out of using it when I brought it home..

Wow, Kitrax. Impressive list of things built.

I get a kick out of woodworking, but in the past few years that's been confined to repairing my box springs. As a renter and someone who moves about every other year, I don't want to fix up my house or add new furniture that I'd have to lug about.

Of course, now I worry that I won't be able to remember anything and end up removing my thumb with a saw.

When I was in high school, I was the manager of the stage crew for our plays. Since I was the only one that took the job seriously (everyone else just goofed off), I wound up doing probably 70 or 80 percent of the work. I built sets for the Wizard of Oz, The Mouse that Roared, Godspell, and a couple of others.
The Wizard of Oz one was the most elaborate, we had to build a bridge that two people in tree costumes could spin around on stage (so Dorothy would always come out on the other side), a Witches Castle, the Emerald City, and others.

Some people commented afterwards that the sets were the best thing about the plays!
Unfortunately, I don't do much wood working nowdays, mostly because I live in an apartment and don't have a garage :D

When I was in high school, I was the manager of the stage crew for our plays. ROCK ON!!! So was I. Since I was the only person besides the teacher who knew how to use a panel saw, I did most of the big cutting. I probably built 25% of all the sets, which included: Okalahoma, and See How They Run.

:yot:
While I was in the Stage Tech class, I ran the light or the sound for about 5 different assemblies, and/or plays...but I'll save those details for another thread. :rolling:
