View Full Version : Geek test
kemanmaldea Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:01pm I am a geek and know it but how bad are you
Http://innergeek.us/geek.html
I got a 43% and wanted to know how badly off I was relative to the rest of the BoM. Have fun
Quicksylver Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:22pm Weird...my friends and I were just talking about this same test. I scored a 34%...which disappointed me. My friend's roommate scored a 61%!
Death Rabbit Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:28pm 17.8794% Still a geek, but a sad one by true geek standards.
Actually, I thought I was going to score as downright "non-geeky," until the movie section came up where it asked if you'd seen those movies more than either 2 or 5 times...I selected all of them!! That just killed my score.
Oh well - Movie Geek it is! :thumb:
Mesmero Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:29pm 14.7929%
I appear to have geek tendencies.
Ancalìmon Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:34pm 8.48126% - Poser
Sir Belisarius Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:47pm Whew! I thought I'd score waay higher!
Only 16.56805%
Rallymama Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:49pm I was only 26.something%, and that included the 5 bonus points for being female.
JSBB Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:52pm 23.86588% - Geek
Probably a bit over-inflated as I had a lot of points in the movies/books/trivia sections but then again my initial reaction to this test was "What the heck does any of this have to do with biting the heads off of chickens?" so maybe the score is somewhat accurate. :D
Intentioner of the Damned Wed, 11th Jun '03, 3:54pm 9.46746% - Geekish Tendencies
Phew. I'm not a geek after all. I can finally set foot out of the basement without fear of riddicule. Yey.
Oxymore Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:01pm 11.83432% - Geekish Tendencies
Must be the Rubik's cube...
Sir Belisarius Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:11pm By the way...Who is Jeanine Salla?
Volsung Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:24pm What is a geek? I looked it up in the dictionary but couldn't find it.
I'm 19.13215% Geek. Is that good or bad?
Death Rabbit Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:36pm Well, the actual definition of a geek is "he who bites the heads off of chickens," but more popularly the term geek is more synonymous with nerd, or dork. Someone who's interests, in lue of what's considered "normal," are in computers, mathematics, science, fantasy games, science fiction - and all manner of useless knowledge and trivia thereof (memorizing the dialogue of original Star Trek episodes is a good example of an extreme case). When these interests dominate your lifestyle, you are bestowed with this most honorable distinction.
Sum it up pretty well?
Nobleman Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:50pm The exact same number as Silverblade.
Did you want a lightsabre too Silverblade :1eye:
chevalier Wed, 11th Jun '03, 5:16pm 19.52663% - Geek
I don't like comic books and don't want to know anything about Star Trek. I couldn't even name one of the characters.
Eze Wed, 11th Jun '03, 5:28pm Total Geek. 31.3341%
Ameorn Wed, 11th Jun '03, 5:33pm Huh, i only got 6.50888% and i even chose the ligthsaber and taht i wanted leia or amidala :)
I thought i would be more geeky, but this is totallt okay :D
The Kilted Crusader Wed, 11th Jun '03, 5:42pm 4.93097% - Poser
Heh, not so nerdy as I thought, mind you, being 6ft 1 and dashingly handsome (that could get me called a geek ;) ) kinda puts folk off the scent.
chevalier Wed, 11th Jun '03, 5:50pm You mean the scent puts people off, don't you?
Volsung Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:01pm Eww... What's this smell?
I'm kidding. :hahaerr:
I must say that the test is incomplete. There should be more questions and not so specific ones.
Nobleman Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:05pm Anyone saying he stands a mighty 6'1 and is dasinghly handsome on a roleplaying forum board is per definition a geek. :shake:
dmc Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:40pm Wow - 19.32939%, not as bad as I thought it would be given that I used to program on a mainframe at 110 baud before there were monitors (boy did we go through a lot of paper back then) and introduced all of my friends to PnP D&D back when first edition was still cool.
joacqin Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:48pm I was just 19.3%, plain geek, nothing less, nothing more.
chevalier Wed, 11th Jun '03, 6:56pm Anyone saying he stands a mighty 6'1 and is dasinghly handsome on a roleplaying forum board is per definition a geek.I'm 6'5'' and I'm being told to be handsome. Not that I'm not a geek, but these two things are completely separate and independent ;)
Late-Night Thinker Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:02pm 20.71% ...WOW...that's higher than I expected.
I knew I should have lied about my They Might Be Giants CD collection!
Now if you will excuse me I have catalogue the various minerals and strata of my back yard...
Darkwolf Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:05pm 32.whatever% for me, total geek. I am surprised, all my freinds say that I am the only atheletic (used to be anyway) geek they know. Glad that I didn't score any higher or else I would have to do something drastic to prove to myself that I am not a major geek, or god forbid a super geek! :p ;)
Shell Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:12pm 10.65089% - Geekish Tendencies
What's a fanny pack? :( Or shouldn't I ask?
Iago Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:25pm 5.91716% - Poser
I think some cultural differences or plain inaptitude to understand English have probably caused an about ~20% or so wrong result.
Fallen Paladin Wed, 11th Jun '03, 7:29pm 7.10059% - Poser :p
BigStick Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:02pm 30.76923% - Total Geek
That's me! :) :tie: :borg:
8people Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:09pm 27 or so
okay, I'm a total geek.
JSBB Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:19pm In answer to Shell's question a fanny pack is a small pouch built into a belt. I have mostly seen them worn by serious hikers, bikers and joggers so I really don't know why they would be a sign of geekiness (unless they are being used to store the severed chicken heads ;) ). If you still don't know what I am talking about here is a website where they are being sold.
http://www.wtcinc.org/fanny.htm
Personally, I want to know what exactly the SCA is and I will second Sir Bel's question about who is Jeanine Salla?
Late-Night Thinker Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:24pm I would say the number of posts made here at SP is a fairly good indicator of geekdom.
I think joke T-Shirts are NEVER funny and always the exclusive domain of geeks.
Nick The Friendly Goth Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:24pm I got a 1... hehe.
Vengeance Incarnate Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:28pm I got 7.29783%-poser. Kind of weird even though I put that I liked logic games and solve physics in my head.
Rallymama Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:29pm SCA stands for the Society for Creative Anachronism. They're a group of people who re-create medieval life, right down to housekeeping and hygiene. Check here. (http://www.sca.org/) I've attended one gathering but never participated. Renfaires are more fun because the particpants don't take them as seriously.
Late-Night Thinker Wed, 11th Jun '03, 8:49pm People who recreate the Civil War scare me.
Blog Wed, 11th Jun '03, 9:10pm 15.779%
Some of those things listed I don't consider geeky though.
And who wouldn't own a "multi-sided dice"? I know what they are intending, but isn't a regular 6-sided dice considered "multi-sided"?
(And yes, I checked the box about correcting grammar mistakes by other people :D )
Splunge Wed, 11th Jun '03, 9:22pm 14.2% Thought it would be a lot higher since my moniker as from a Monty Python sketch :hahaerr:
Harkle Wed, 11th Jun '03, 9:38pm 7.88955% - Poser
Well, this result is quite near truth, I think.
BigStick Wed, 11th Jun '03, 9:43pm SCA is the Society of Creative Anachronisms or something to that effect. While never a member of participant myself, I had a few friends who were. It's members enjoy re-creating their lives as if they were living in the middle ages.
If you've read Christopher Stasheff's Warlock series, you may recall that the original settlers of Gramarye were from several (12-13) SCA duchies.
Falstaff Wed, 11th Jun '03, 10:11pm I'd rather not discuss the results of this test, let's just say that the number was higer than I thought it would be - MUCH HIGHER!!!
JSBB Wed, 11th Jun '03, 10:33pm Thanks for the info re SCA. I probably should have just done a google serch on it but I was being a little lazy at the time. I just did a search and found out the story behind the Jeanine Salla thing. She is from an internet marketing gimmick for the film AI.
http://www.netribution.co.uk/news/industry_buzz/63/ai.html
Nobleman Thu, 12th Jun '03, 12:49am Chevalier you just add to the data pool of my empiric deduction. Its now up to two *ahem* :1eye: . Anyway c'mon we don't see George Clooney telling how dasinghly handsome he is on a roleplaying forum, or do we? Hmmm, BTA come out of the phonebox, drop the glasses and let us see your true identity :shake:
Blackthorne TA Thu, 12th Jun '03, 1:08am Me? I was something like 21%. That second to last section with all the computer/science related stuff? I was all over that. :)
Valkyrie Thu, 12th Jun '03, 1:31am 23.4714%-Geek hmmm, i thought this would be higher.... :D It was all the technical computer stuff that lowered it much.
chevalier Thu, 12th Jun '03, 4:18am What?! Female 23% geek? O tempora, o mores! And Carthage should be destroyed.
Sprite Thu, 12th Jun '03, 6:19am 32.93886% - Total Geek
YIKES! I'm geekier than all the teenage boys here! I hope my husband doesn't start checking Whatnots, that's a statistic he might not want to know. Thank goodness I've never had a television or I'd be in real trouble - I'd probably be fluent in Klingon by now, or worse.
I probably should have gotten bonus points for:
- More than 5 years' study of Attic Greek (funny, they did count Latin)
- Holding more than one leadership position in Mensa
- Buying my wedding dress on the Internet
- Regularly reading Wil Wheaton's blog
- Playing PC games before 1985
- Marrying a DM
But that's quite all right, my score is high enough as it is.
rastilin Thu, 12th Jun '03, 8:44am 23.6 - Total Geek
And I plotted world domination too
Alex Thu, 12th Jun '03, 11:13am Oh dear...
52.07101% - Super Geek
I guess that would make me the big winner so far... or more likely the big loser?
Teach me to take an online poll...
Sniper Thu, 12th Jun '03, 2:15pm I was 19.34% or something like that ... I don't know how i ranked though
Khazraj Thu, 12th Jun '03, 3:17pm 7.69231% - Poser
I only scored this much! Aaaahhhhh. The relief of knowing that the yobos during high school got me totally wrong....
I mean how can I be a geek if I have nearly 800 posts on SP? Surely I have a life to live?
Rastor Thu, 12th Jun '03, 6:16pm 15.38462%. Probably because I had such demanding teachers in both high school physics and chemistry. I didn't check much else.
Mathetais Thu, 12th Jun '03, 6:45pm 19.32939% - Geek
I'm 6'3" and aging well ... I don't think I'm a geek, just smart.
(dang, that comment makes me a geek for sure!)
Malovae Thu, 12th Jun '03, 7:20pm Oh my god!!!!
I thought I was pretty cool...haha, just kiddin. :)
I'm not putting my score here though....no one would talk to me again!
reepnorp Thu, 12th Jun '03, 11:30pm 15.77909% - Geek
By the way, being a female geek gives you exactly 0.98619%.
Also, answering all of them gives you 100% - Liar!
chevalier Fri, 13th Jun '03, 2:24am @Sprite: Yea, we all bow to Your Most Serene (or rather Sombre :p ;) ) Geekness.
Your additional points are worth 40% bonus at worst, xaire! :D
Volsung Fri, 13th Jun '03, 9:44am Chevalier, you don't have to say "xaire" so often. It means "hi" "hallo" "greetings" etc.
This SCA sounds nice but... there is always a "but"
I'm 19.something -Geek. Is that good or bad?
Farthy Fri, 13th Jun '03, 9:52am While we're on the subject, did you know that the SCA's official logo is:
"Onward into the future!"
I just thought that was kind of interesting. Does it mean that geeks will control the future?
Astin X Fri, 13th Jun '03, 1:54pm 11.04536% - Geekish Tendencies - Surprising
chevalier Fri, 13th Jun '03, 3:00pm Alex: xaire means rejoice or be happy in Attic ;) I said that because Sprite was learning Attic too. Finally something other than the ugly Peloponnesian :D
Sniper Fri, 13th Jun '03, 3:58pm Don't worry Mathetais, I'm only 0.02% more geeky then you and that always counts! ;)
Pyro Sat, 14th Jun '03, 10:41am 7.10059% - Poser
I consider my score a failure, now I have to find a new identity :(
Wordplay Sat, 14th Jun '03, 3:25pm 11.04536% - Geekish Tendencies
Must have been those "Do you know..." -questions...
[edit] Whoops... a *brag* ;)

Nobleman Sat, 14th Jun '03, 4:07pm Yes it is, so there is no need to mention it ;)
Oaz Sat, 14th Jun '03, 6:58pm 10% - Geekish tendencies.
IMHO, I get a +10% for being able to rant about alignment for hours on end.
8people Sat, 14th Jun '03, 7:20pm Oaz - please don't say that adds to your score - because if that does, there'll be more to add and I'll be more of a total geek than the total geek I got!
Faragon Sat, 14th Jun '03, 9:22pm 10.45365% - Geekish Tendencies
Arabwel Sun, 15th Jun '03, 11:13am 42.40631% - Major Geek
Go me!
Too bad I don't game more often in RL, if that were so then I'd have a higher one. But I like it anyway :)
Khazraj Sun, 15th Jun '03, 12:23pm Malovae.
C'mon Malovae it's not as if this is "real". Share it all. In another "geek" test I am sure that I'd get 100%, but I reckon the person who makes up the test is more geeky than the people he wants to look geeky...
Nobleman Sun, 15th Jun '03, 8:16pm @Khazraj
Who is the more geekish. The geek or the geek who follows him?
Rewritten quote of Geeky Wan Kenobi
Khazraj Mon, 16th Jun '03, 10:10am Me? For actually taking the geek test! ;)
Seriously it all depends on our perception. We may think of people like Newton, Priestly, Einstein etc as geeks but without them we would not be able to even type this thread!
I think though that people who go around labelling others as geeks (apart from themselves) are more geeky.
Besides I prefer the term "dag", has a much more authentic feel...
Ahrontil Tue, 17th Jun '03, 2:32am 30.57199% - Total Geek
And more importantly my desk thermometer/humidistat reads 25 degees centegrade and 55% relative humidity which means, yes that's right I've left the window open again.
:)
DarkGoddess Tue, 17th Jun '03, 4:27am 17.357% - Geek
Eh, I knew it.
Sir Dargorn Tue, 24th Jun '03, 1:16am 99.80276% - Dysfunctional Geek
I only ever saw Balderunner once ;)
chevalier Tue, 24th Jun '03, 1:09pm 99.80276% - Dysfunctional GeekYou need professional aid.
Lazy Bonzo Tue, 24th Jun '03, 10:23pm 17.15976% - Geek
Not as high as I expected :) wait is that a :) thing or a :( thing? hmmm :ponder:
Who doesn't want a real lightsaber? It would be sooooo coooool! :tie:
Death Rabbit Tue, 24th Jun '03, 10:42pm @ chev
You need professional aid. Oh whatever, Paladin junky! :shake:
Rolsuk Fryulee Mon, 30th Jun '03, 5:39am 11.2426% I did better than I thought I would've. I've only got geekish tendancies. :D
