First Off. Excellent movie, for a Thriller. Don't read the following if you haven't seen it.
I think it is an excellent movie because all evidence is put forth and worked with and can be spotted in several ways through out the movie. That makes it somewhat different from, for instance, "the Usual Suspect" where the "plot" is centered around "a simple twisted foot" and impossible to actually deduct, just guess about...
Further, Its new and interesting settings and the story is well put together
--------------------------------- O -----------------------------------
Onward to the Toppic; One thing interests me, is time disruptions in movies and if they hold water. And so does Minority Report hold water? What do you think?
PROBLEMS IN TIME?
I) It is obvious that there can't be a single linear streamlined timeline. That would make it impossible to alter the future which indeed happens. So what else? There could be no streamlining then. This would be the same as saying there are loops on the timeline. The Oracles see what would happen without their influence and then they influence reality and a loop is created. This brings a problem though. Whenever the Oracles even think about the future they'll create a loop. In a sense they create excessive amounts of loops. They should filter an even endless amount of loops. We could say they find the most likely ones first (the one with the murder). The problem is that with the pre crime cops it is highly unlikely that any murders will occur. They solve this by saying that, murder has a strong psychic impact so all other signals are too weak for the oracles to notice.
II) Even so when Agatha gets out, she suddenly notice weird details and acts upon them, further isn't it hilarious that the oracles can foresee what clothing and things will be present, as if they where a third observer. Instead of just sensing feelings and emotions, they are actually present as a TV screen for the Pre crime cops to study in their lab... Hilarious? :D
III) And once they sense a murder and loop time, they can't sense whether that loop will alter or prevent anything. (e.g. when Tom Cruise stands before Crow, Agatha can sense anything but what she felt the first time she foresaw the "murder"). It seems as when the oracles first alter reality with a loop, they are unable to sense the effects that has. As if they are only psychic once per murder... Hilarious? :D
IV) And why could the Oracles sense Tom Cruise's impulsive "murdering" (which wasn't even murder) a day ahead, when they couldn't even spot the even more planned murder on the FBI agent later that same day? fun fun
As you see I've a lot of inconclusive ramble. Do you have any? I hope you have a lot of rambling I can indulge ín :D
