View Full Version : Women or Men?
Kitiara Sun, 19th Aug '01, 3:21am Ok Lokken was mentioning in the chat that this should be a thread.
Who has it better in life... women or men??
Me personally would not want to be a man.. too many dam pressures. Have to be tough, cant cry, cant play with dolls, dont wear pink, have to pick up women not vice versa usually, there are less of you..lol
so many reasons but the biggest would be not giving birth! God that is an experience and a half i would never give up.
Psycho. the fanged rabbit Sun, 19th Aug '01, 3:52am I would not want to be a woman I was a girl for holloween and it was hard I had to make shure my fake boob were not crooked I kept tripping on my high heels and I kept triping on my dress it sucked. I feel bad for all you women out there.
Sprite Sun, 19th Aug '01, 4:08am Interesting that you found the fake breasts the hardest part about being a woman... I should point out that (most) real women actually don't have to worry about that. But you are dead on about the shoes- women's shoes are ridiculous, and there isn't even a real alternative. I wore men's shoes for years but can't get away with that at work now.
Other than shoes, though, I have to agree with Kitiara on this one- being a woman is lots of fun and I wouldn't give it up for the world. I don't even like role-playing male characters: it just seems like men don't have as much fun to me. The world expects and tolerates silliness from women but it seems men are expected to conform to a stereotype much more and not express feelings or imagination much in their day to day lives. Maybe that's why men tend to be more interested in fantasy and sci-fi... all that emotion and imagination channelled into their inner lives? With women it usually seems to be channelled into telephone conversations... :)
But GIVING BIRTH? Kitiara, you must be joking!
Psycho. the fanged rabbit Sun, 19th Aug '01, 4:18am See theres something that I find as a stereotype for guys everyone says that guys don't talk on the phone alot or like to go shopping I like to talk on the phone alot (only in the school year in the summer I'm out and about)and I think shopping is awsome (as long as it is for me). Thanks for the idea with the telephone comment.
Lokken Sun, 19th Aug '01, 10:41am sorry Kit, I forgot all about posting it while I was... uhm... drinking I think ;) :D
anyways, who says men can't cry?!?!?! I cry if I feel like it, and for being tough, well I'm not. As for wearing pink, I dont tihnk I would even want to! :p
I once tried to walk in some high heeled shoes, I think I fell in my second step, it was hell!
as for the pickup, I think that's pretty mutual, though the attention might be something women just get out of the blue
I might be discriminative here, but I think all women rule their men, even though if their men(looking at statistics) is supposed to be high seated political figures or corporate officers. I dont like it.
/me goes look for his Psion's shield +4
I dont think I would really care to be a woman or a man, even though I do like the ability to pee standing.
As for putting makeup on and fixing hair for an hour before you're going out, geez, I think I could do without that.
though I got male in some gender test, so I guess I'll stick to male :)
...then I get to enjoy the women as well :p

Avooch Dar Sun, 19th Aug '01, 12:26pm I am a young man:
My favourite shirt is bright pink with yellow fish.
I cry when i want to.
The biggest pressure i have is my exams and that is the same for women.
I don't have to have periods or deliver a 10 pound lump of flesh through my genitals!
I do not have to be tough and strong, i just am anyway. :D
joacqin Sun, 19th Aug '01, 12:27pm There are several reasons i enjoy being a man. The first and foremost: I can look and enjoy all the beautiful women out there without being gay and as i know that all us men arre bastards i wouldnt want to spend the rest of my life with a person like myself.
Another reason that is almost as important as the aboven is as Lokken said, i can piss standing, anywhere.
Oh oh i almost forgot i agree with all the men above, no make up, no funny shirts or shoes and no discremination at work by your greasy boss.
Extremist Sun, 19th Aug '01, 12:48pm It is proved that males and females have completely different brain - and that's the main reason why they act diffenently.
Forget biological (genital) differences - it can be changed through operations - but the brain stays the same.
And as I said in one such thread in Planescape forum:
Males got the imagination, females got the practical part.
Yes, there are some exceptions - BUT RARE.
Both parts are fun. And both parts need to be joined. The imagination that can't be borned in real world is lost forever. The real world without imagining things better than they are (romance ;)) can inflict serious mental problems.
Do you see why men and women must be around each other? And no, I never found a single person with both imagination and practical part. The best teams are mixed teams.
Finally, the cultural idiotism (crying, pink color, dolls, football, cars, dresses, shoes, ...) is not the reason to find your gender better than opposite. That can all be changed tomorrow.
Of course I would never give up my malehood. I'm enjoying it.
But I do understand women - I do understand their joys of being a female.
And I don't argue with it all, I just make jokes with my female friends about differences.
Like this one (you need to read the Holy Bible to understand it...):
--------------------------------------------
In Garden of Eden there was a forbidden fruit. And Eve tasted the fruit, but also forced Adam to taste it.
From the heavens God appeared and glowered on Eve:
"You'll pay me in blood for this!"
And Eve asked:
Can you make it in rates?
Xenecor Sun, 19th Aug '01, 2:22pm I have no interest in being a man, however, being a woman has its ups and downs as well.
I don't wear dresses, high heeled shoes, makeup. I find them all to be time consuming and physically constricting. I think the last time I ever wore pink was when I was a baby. I have no aspirations to wear it as an adult. Even though I have gone through the childbirth thing once and would not change that for the world it is still not an experience I wish to have again. I've always played male characters and am very comfortable with that. I may not be the girliest girl but I think I would make a lousy guy.
Kitiara Sun, 19th Aug '01, 5:46pm ok have to clarify.
Not just giving birth but motherhood period.
I would not give up that for anything
holding a baby brand new... breast feeding...just having a baby so attached to you that you made inside you. Not a thing i would ever give up!!
Avooch Dar Sun, 19th Aug '01, 5:52pm Wow Kitiara i am impressed.
You really are a beutifully sensitive personality. However please stop because you are giving me the urge to become a woman and that is not healthy!
I can however see why so many people are obsessed with you on these boards! :D
Sprite Sun, 19th Aug '01, 7:19pm I'm curious about "males got the imagination, females got the practical part", Extremist. Do you believe this is an innate difference between men and women or a cultural one?
The Jungian characteristic spectrum of Sensing vs Intuition is more or less equivalent to a "Practicality vs Imagination" scale, and statistically there is no difference between males and females in this category according to the research I've seen. The only category that does show male/female difference is that of Thinking vs Feeling, where 75% more men than women score in the "Thinking" range.
My own experience has led me to believe that men and women are similar in imagination and practicality, although they express these traits differently. Contrary to my glib remark about telephone conversations above, I do think that traditionally women's creativity/imagination have been directed at things like clothing, cooking, sewing, decorating, gardening etc. and that therefore it is more commonly men who have had the creative energy left over to write books, paint, compose music etc. Though, now that I am the last woman on the planet who still cooks, sews and gardens, this may be changing. :)

shadow_thief Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:00pm I think women are much better, they don't have to conceal their vanity, they can make themselve taller without being laughed at, they can cry when they need to, they don't need to worry about what color they like, they can wear pretty things, *and* cool things...that's all I can think of right now.
Mollusken Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:01pm Silly debate. You are kind of strange if you don't find your own sex the best. But hey, men are generally twice as strong as women ;). And women are no good at sports.
For the information, I never cry. I swear and hit things. Primitive solution.
Kitiara Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:08pm /me smacks Mollusken
Women not good at sports!!! HA!
There are tons of women athletes...where you from the moon???

shadow_thief Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:17pm For your information Mollusken, I am one of the best defense person in soccer at my old school's class. I don't cry unless I'm hurt on the inside and when I'm hurt on the outside, I cry or get up and limp, or swear and tell everyone that my anger is fresh.
Mollusken Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:21pm Aaah. I'm 17, and the soccer team I played on last year could have beaten the womens national soccer team in Norway (and it's supposed to be one of the best in the world). And while a female athlete throws the spear at around 70 metre, the male is closer to 100. Women jump just above 2 metres up in the air, men around 2,40. You can't match us.
shadow_thief Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:23pm How do you know we can't throw 100 feet or just 2.40 metres in the air?!
Edit: Kit, ja!!!! Not meaning to be sexist or anything, women rock!!!!!

Kitiara Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:24pm so your sayin just cause women arent as tough as men they are not as good!!1
Our womens hockey team would kick your a**!!!
Mollusken Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:27pm You are so wannabes when running around doing male stuff.
Lokken Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:27pm geez
Well, my dad can beat your dad!!!
shadow_thief Sun, 19th Aug '01, 8:29pm You donno what my dad looks like, chat op!!!!
Ironbeard Sun, 19th Aug '01, 9:32pm About inherent differences I heard that men (and women with excess masuline hormones eg. testoterone) scored better on tests of spatial abiltity, but worse on tests of verbal ability than women (and men with testosterone deficincies)
Daevaeron Dererath Sun, 19th Aug '01, 11:01pm U no being gay is really the middle road i can be, am expected to be vain, like shoping and all, yet be stonger, than women, amongst other things and look at male beauty in a female light.
herf Mon, 20th Aug '01, 12:30am I wouldnt mind being a woman, both sexes have their ups and downs. Women tend to be more sensitive and open, men tend to hide their feelings and cry on the indside. Men prefer to go drinking in pubs etc and women prefer talking on the phone.
But i think the best sex is female!
1. breasts! how can you beat a good pair of boobs?
2. simultaneous orgasms. men can only come once a minute (mayb more if they have fast hand motion) but women can have like 4-5 orgasms in one go!
But men have their good points too.
1. generally stronger
2. we managed to supress women for nearly 2000 years (who the hell let them outta their cages?)
3. tend to have faster reflexes
Baldak Oakfist Mon, 20th Aug '01, 12:22pm It would seem to me that most men and women would prefer to be what they are. After all you are what you are. I could not imagine being a woman. The thought intrigues me, but I can't get away from what I like. My favorite things revolve around seeing , talking to, being with, and fondling women (My wife in particular). If I were a woman and retain who I am, I would be a lesbian. I think that I will remain as I am, It is what I know.
Women also have to put up with that monthly thing. I would hate that. Heck I hate it now.

Headbanger Mon, 20th Aug '01, 3:13pm I don't like being a regular girl... Every morning one hour looking in the Mirror... All that caring and worying for how they look etc. (I know not all girls are like this but many do act like this) Also the clothes they wear, never just a big boxershort, skate-pants and a way too big shirt/sweater. No, they have to wear a Bra, a uncomfortable string, a tight short skirt, a tight top, high heels... ieuw!
And the worst: They have to sit when they gotta p....... no please, let me be a man..... :)
ArtEChoke Mon, 20th Aug '01, 4:57pm The worst thing about women; their *ahem* "monthly visitor" Now I realize that this affects women in different ways and some aren't affected badly at all. I have seen women turn into homicidal maniacs or an emotional mess, I knew one girl that looked like she was tripping on acid when her time of the month swung around. My very own girlfriend (some of you have heard this before) turns into an unreasonable psychotic ***** (no offense to the ladies here, but its true). So that's a pretty good reason to be glad to be a man.
I also like being a man because I can "relieve" myself virtually anywhere without any sort of modern convenience at all, we're ready to "go" anywhere!
In fact, I'm relieving myself right now! ;)
shadow_thief Mon, 20th Aug '01, 7:40pm Artechoke, I strongly believe that that last sentence was unnessecary...damn these stupid words...can't spell anything right. Since I have not experienced that 'monthly bisness'...geez, I know that word is wrong...I cannot tell you if we turn into sphycotic *****es or not. We don't *always* wear a bra, I wear what I want to, and it ranges from nice skirts and tight tops to loose geans(bell bottoms preferably) and a big shirt that goes down to my knees.
Edit: I do *not* spend an hour in front of the mirror, I spend 5 minutes...sometimes less when I just comb my hair and put a bucket hat on.

Lokken Mon, 20th Aug '01, 7:50pm one good thing about being a women in Denmark, you don't have to join the army!!!
I just got a very nifty little letter from the state
now I just hope I dont have to go, but that requires a great deal of luck, unfortunately

Ironbeard Mon, 20th Aug '01, 8:36pm Now this gave me some food for thought for my Elves vs Dwarves topic. http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000607.html
Shadow Assassin Mon, 20th Aug '01, 9:40pm Does anyone in here actually think one sex is better than the other? men are physically stronger, so what women are more flexible. Men have better reasoning skills because they don't put so much emotion into it, Women are more in touch with others because they put more emotion into it. Womenhave the monthly thing, men bald. women get hot flashes, men eventually need Viagra. The list continues.
Divine Shadow Mon, 20th Aug '01, 9:49pm I think it's a great preasure to be a man (OKAY I'm rather a boy but I like to think of myself as a man... :D).
For some reason you have to get drunk and url over something expensive, beat someone up or get hurt and make it sound heroic, play sports (except swimming that is wieved as a "gay sport". ), behave like an idiot to impress "the chicks" (mostly in the form of beating someone smaller up. Very heroic!), watch porn movies or be able to crank out lame jokes about it.
If you don't...then you are either gay or childish.
I remember the "tough guys" from my old school..." Grow up you wimp! You don't even watch porno movies!"
That is sooo mature isn't it?
And still girls seem to like those people.
Even after they do things like burping the national anthem in front of the entire class.
The BASTARD made my girlfriend despise me.
I still have nightmares about that particular episode. She was away a week with the schools drama team (wich the moron was also a part of) And when she came back...SHE DIDN'T TALK TO ME ANYMORE! (Well... she sighed and looked at me like I was an idiot). She only hung out with him and his friends.
I still wonder what the HELL he told her about me.
And then there was the time he and 2 friends dragged my outside into the snow to fight...while I was still lying down.
HEROIC HUH!
And all my "friends" didn't do a thing.
They were afraid to get the "mark of Caine"
too.
Shadow_Goddess Tue, 21st Aug '01, 12:52am I'm so sorry for you.
idoru Tue, 21st Aug '01, 1:04am for the sake of the argument: I own a pink shirt. I do cry sometimes, and I am just happy being a guy. It's all about what you make of it. Guys are allowed to do whatever, just like girls, but maybe it takes some more guts for guys, since it seems like peer pressure tells us to all act like Arnold. Oh well, the one part of this man woman deal I can not stand is actually not my own problem, but anyway: the whole guys ask girls out, not the other way around. It seems most silly to me, fortunately my kind of girls usually dare to... but oh well, that's something you girls need to work on anyway, not my problem. :)
Shadow_Goddess Tue, 21st Aug '01, 1:57am And you said you were *10*? Yeah right, nice lie. I don't know one 10 year old who has gotten asked out by a *girl*. No offense, but that's kinda lame. Actually, my bro is 14 and his fav colour is pink. Cry when you want to, everyone does. I do not believe that guys have more guts than girls. That's truly not true.
Divine Shadow Tue, 21st Aug '01, 7:33pm Thanks SG.
I don't think that was what Idoru meant.
I think he meant it takes guts to be yourself instead of doing everything the other guys do.
It's disgusting how otherwise nice people can act, just because they don't wan't to be left out.
Big B Tue, 21st Aug '01, 9:36pm Kitiara,
This is for you. It's safe to say that you are into these games and the message boards. I was wondering is your husband the same way? Or does he not care for them or have time for them or what? I'm sorry if you mentioned this on the boards before I've never seen it and I was just wondering since we are talking about men and women.
Kitiara Wed, 22nd Aug '01, 3:47am No! I took him to Pen and paper D&D when we first met.. but he wasnt in to it. He tried Baldurs gate said it was boring. He likes fighter ace, motocross, need for speed. THose types of games.
Big B Wed, 22nd Aug '01, 3:53am Oh ok so he's into games, just not always the ones you're into. Ok I got ya.
Gash Wed, 22nd Aug '01, 12:57pm What I wouldn't give to wear pink and not be called a poof...
Headbanger Wed, 22nd Aug '01, 1:38pm Lokken, don't worry about the army, you will NOT get through the tests with your constititution of 1 (0 if your familiar, the cat, dies) and you're moral is also bad... This is how the dialogue will go:
Lokken: Can I chat while in the army? Do I have my own computer with ADSL?
Militair: No, you don't.
Lokken: NOOOOOOOOO (and scream much more)
Militair: Lokken, you are a crazy fool, you will not get into the army, failed for all tests....
so don't worry =)
