View Full Version : Poll: The best thing to drink
Mollusken Tue, 21st Nov '00, 3:00pm I don't know the english word for it, but I want top concentrate on sugar liquid with C02 bubbles in it. Like Coca-Cola. Because Pepsi is the best! Nothing's like some bottles of Pepsi on a LAN, or a really cold one after school. So what do you think?
Taluntain Tue, 21st Nov '00, 8:22pm The word is soft drinks.
And it's too damn cold out here to think about cooling myself down any more. ;)
Try next summer.
Wingfoot Tue, 21st Nov '00, 8:56pm mmmmmmm Beer. nothing like a pint or 2 of cool Guinness.
Tom+J Tue, 21st Nov '00, 11:47pm My mate likes cream soda with milk, which tastes like fizzy milk and makes me want to throw! But he seems to enjoy it. The best drink has got to be free drinks, just go to a bar and pretend its your B-Day and.... well.... yay!
Sniper Tue, 21st Nov '00, 11:48pm Water's the healthiest drink...
Fergus Fri, 24th Nov '00, 10:46am Wingfoot you don't know what real Guinness is. ;)
Everywhere in the world it tastes completely different.
Nothing beats an Irish Guinness.
Soft drinks try this one -
Fanta orange with a dash of lime and a dash of blackcurrent. Very refreshing :)
Wingfoot Fri, 24th Nov '00, 7:27pm well Fergus i guess you got me there. i have never been to Ireland, so i have never tasted a real Guinness.
there are a few good Irish pubs here in Chicago that pour a pretty damn good one though, but i have heard from friends that nothing compares. i'll have to slide on over there sometime, not only for the Guinness but to see land its self.
water is sweet. abosulutly one of my favorite ways to quench my thirst, although it certainly is not the healthiest drink out there. i am thinking anything with lots of vitamins in it would be heathier than water. its more like you need water to survive.
Sniper Fri, 24th Nov '00, 7:34pm Thats what i meant! Yes it would be better to have drinks with vitmains in...stuff like orange squash is good also...
Rakanishu Sat, 25th Nov '00, 6:08am Plain water is the best
Sol'Kanar Sat, 25th Nov '00, 8:43am Give me some straight finnish vodka any day!
Sol'Kanar Sat, 25th Nov '00, 8:44am Don't get me wrong though, I'm no heavy drinker. I actually prefer various fruit juices. I think they are potentially the most healthful drinks.
Mollusken Tue, 28th Nov '00, 9:47am Pepsiiiii! Norwegian beer is expensive and crappy, or so I've heard. Haven't tasted much else.
Wassup Tue, 28th Nov '00, 3:45pm Beer! And we have in Québec a lot of microbrewry who make excellent beer!
"La Maudite" "La Fin du Monde" "La blanche de Chambly" etc etc. These beer are about 8% alc.
mmm..
Sapiryl Tue, 28th Nov '00, 5:57pm Yeah, Mollusken, I prefer Pepsi over Coke (will explain later), but my favorite beverage is a Coke product.
Dr. Pepper. It just has to be the best soft drink. Ever. Although a good Plum Wine is an excellent entertainment choice. How many of you folks who say that beer is best etc. are actually old enough to drink?
If you put a T-Bone Steak in a bowl of Coca-Cola, it will dissolve in two days. Ick.
Sniper Tue, 28th Nov '00, 8:21pm Thing is Dr. Pepper gives a bad aftertaste...
Neverworlder Wed, 29th Nov '00, 12:01am The blood of virgins is pretty refreshing. And gatorade.
Neverworlder Wed, 29th Nov '00, 12:03am And for the record: Pepsi is for kids and girls - flat and sticky-sweet. Coke is a man's drink. Bites your tongue like a hungry hooker. ;)
Sol'Kanar Wed, 29th Nov '00, 5:52am I must agree with Neverworlder on those last two statements.
Thaumas Wed, 29th Nov '00, 7:49pm Pepsi? Tastes like rust.
Sapiryl Wed, 29th Nov '00, 8:29pm How would you know how a hooker's bite feels Neverworlder? Don't answer that.
Besides, all sodas are kids' drinks. Now, let's talk Kool-Aid.
Sniper Thu, 30th Nov '00, 12:49am Howabout Water?
Or
Vodka? I prefer white wine and champayne...don't ask why i just do!
Sol'Kanar Thu, 30th Nov '00, 4:10am I drink just about anything. Not beer though, I don't like most beers. It's always "beer this beer that" it really doesnt appeal to me much. I like red wine. Or vodka. Or kool-aid too. Or kool-aid with vodka in it.
Sapiryl Thu, 30th Nov '00, 7:39pm Oh really?
And how often have you had vodka, wine, etc?
It seems to me, that besides our illustrious moderators, very few of us are old enough to drink. I myself am only 18 (19 in 2 weeks).
Sniper Thu, 30th Nov '00, 9:18pm Hehee! I'm 15! i get me drinks off me dad but me mum...nah!
Sol'Kanar Fri, 1st Dec '00, 12:03am Same case here Sniper. I get the aformentioned drinks from my parents.
[This message has been edited by Sol'Kanar (edited December 01, 2000).]
Dude69 Fri, 1st Dec '00, 2:28am The best soft drink is iron brew and white wine good to. Anyone from Scotland?
Shura Fri, 1st Dec '00, 3:31am Urgh...my liver....
Sir Belisarius Fri, 1st Dec '00, 2:13pm I've always been a Guiness fan...But I also got hooked on Boddington's Bitter when I was in the UK about 3 years ago...But it doesn't taste as good in the States for some reason.
Sniper Fri, 1st Dec '00, 7:53pm Well, one thing i love about beer adverts is the women in them!
Wassup Fri, 1st Dec '00, 8:09pm Yeah!
Do anybody have see the "Old Milwaukee" beer advertising?? (dont know if is only in Canada) wow! Any male would surely buy ton a barrel of this beer for these chicks!
ObLiViOn Wed, 13th Dec '00, 6:04am lol anyone here try pee b4? haha....well i like sierra mist or Sprite
Mollusken Thu, 14th Dec '00, 2:24pm Think most of us here enjoy good-looking women ;)
EternalPaladin Sun, 17th Dec '00, 7:01am I myself have taking a liking to Everclear as of late.
As for beer: guiness, killians, heineken (sp?) are all decent. And of course labat blue and budweiser.
The Fat Egg Sun, 17th Dec '00, 10:04pm beer, or japanese vodka, nothing beats that.
Crawl Mon, 18th Dec '00, 4:45am Everclear? Christ almighty, just drink rubbing alcohol. I took a shot of that once. Once. Give me a nice clean vodka on the rocks with some lemon wedges crushed with sugar in the bottom of the glass. Man is that nice.
Incidently, that's a shot of Everclear, not rubbing alcohol. Though I doubt there's much difference going down.
[This message has been edited by Crawl (edited December 18, 2000).]
Sylvus Moonbow Mon, 18th Dec '00, 6:46am Nothing beats Gaterade when you've just got back from playing hockey or going for a 2hr bike ride in the summer.
Apple Juice is very good too.
Syl...
Taluntain Mon, 18th Dec '00, 11:50pm Agava juice is an interesting flavour too... I remember drinking it in London. (Brought some home too). I can't get it anywhere here.
Lord Moeken Tue, 19th Dec '00, 12:28am Beer: Sleeman Honey Brown (I do enjoy Double X from Mexico with salt and lime as well)
Whiskey: Crown Royal (Glenfidich and Soda is good if you like sipping scotch)
Thirst quencher: have to agree with Gatorade (water is good too)
Anyone tried good ice wine? Nice for sipping after supper (just have to take out a double mortgage to afford it!)
Sapiryl Tue, 19th Dec '00, 1:06pm Actually, I prefer Poweraid to Gatorade. I just like the flavors better.
As far as wine, I like plum. A good, slightly chilled, Chinese plum wine. It's not that expensive, or prestigious, but it's sweet without being sickly so.
Mollusken Tue, 19th Dec '00, 2:28pm Since it's Christmas now, I've turned to "Julebrus", or "Christmas soft-drink" translated. I only drink the red one of course, not the orange one. Even if I have to travel a lot longer to get the red one. But my motorbike is fast. How fast I don't now, because the speedometer has never been fixed. I would guess about 65 km/t, and it is 14 (!) years old.
Silver Dragon Thu, 21st Dec '00, 1:03am Hate Wine and Beer but I like Orange Juice. It's just great. And Apple Juice, and I like Watermelon, even though it's not a drink it's 97% liquid and I love Ribina. Anyone tasted that soft drink, it's fantastic.
Wingfoot Thu, 21st Dec '00, 2:54am yep nothing like some freshly squeezed O.J. love it and its good for you.
The Fat Egg Thu, 21st Dec '00, 4:44am I love vodka martinies, everclear is some seriuos stuff, and you're talking to someone who drinks a quart of absolute vodka a day (at least, i usually also have a few beers and a shot or two of tequila) and doesn't feel the least bit drunk. That is some good stuff.
Lord Moeken Thu, 21st Dec '00, 4:43pm Whoa Fat Egg, can we say 'liver transplant?'
That's quite a bit to drink.
Sir Belisarius Thu, 21st Dec '00, 4:47pm Tequila....The breakfast of Champions! :p
The Fat Egg Thu, 21st Dec '00, 10:53pm actually, I mean only in the christmas season, hey it's traditional for russian people to get drunk on holidays, if i were to drink that much every day i would be dead lying in a trash can somewhere.
Lord Moeken Fri, 22nd Dec '00, 3:07am I suppose it is the Christmas season. I didn't realize you were Russian Fat Egg. I've been known to drink a bit of vodka now and then myself (with orange juice!)
Merry Christmas! :)
Yohan del Sud Fri, 22nd Dec '00, 2:29pm Tullamore Dew mixed with Guiness and a twist of cannary!
Christopher_Lee Tue, 26th Feb '02, 2:21pm Mead
the god Tue, 26th Feb '02, 2:28pm :nono: :)

Christopher_Lee Tue, 26th Feb '02, 2:38pm Oops!!!:wail: I didn't realise the post was this old. I have a bunch of topics open up in a lot of windows and replied to a really old one. In my defence Mead really is the best drink that I can remember as well as being the first alchoholic beverage I ever tried.
>Please forgive. Me feel Stooopid!!
Headbanger Tue, 26th Feb '02, 2:52pm What? A topic on Sorcerer's Place about drinking.... and I didn't even reply?! How is that possible?
I prefer beer.... especially Grolsch, German Beer and Heineken... and Murphy's Irish Red.... Sometimes I take a whiskey... Scottish Whiskey... (Glennfiddich, Dimple or Johny Walker Black label)
Viking Tue, 26th Feb '02, 2:56pm I don't see the issue? It's perfectly valid to open old topics if you have something to add to them. I would say though that someone has re-opened the old name one whilst there is a new one going. That might be a bit over the top.
Anyway, on topic:
Going out: Beer.
At home: Milk or Tea. I don't drink alcohol at home as a rule. I do go out a lot though...
For work: Coffee (got to keep awake you know)
the god Tue, 26th Feb '02, 3:03pm http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000399-3.html
might as well join the chorus then ... all rubicon exotic fruit drinks (lychee, passion fruit etc) www.rubiconexotic.com (http://www.rubiconexotic.com) -plus some really rare stuff- tamarind juice, :) fizzy jizz, :toofar: etc.
Christopher_Lee Tue, 26th Feb '02, 3:44pm The god!!! Shame on you :o:o
You scared me :aaa::aaa: to death!! Fortunately there are some nice and understanding people around who don't mind helping a newbie in trouble! Thanks guys!!
And headbanger that's a very good selection of beverages you have there man.

Damona Silvercloud Tue, 26th Feb '02, 6:06pm See, I was always afraid to re-open old topics, so you're my hero.
Alcoholic beverages: Margaritas, Prarie Fire, wine, sake, Barenjager, hard cider, and mead. I want to brew mead so bad.
Non alcoholic: Tea. I love tea in all incarnations, hot, cold, Asian, British, green, black, flavored, and anything in between.
I won't, however, drink that nasty brown fluid that Nestea and Lipton try to foist upon us, claiming that it's brisk.
[This message has been edited by Damona Silvercloud (edited February 26, 2002).]
Cannibal Penguin Tue, 26th Feb '02, 6:09pm Nothing like a tasty tequila and orange juice! (things get desperate when I'm running out of alcohol)
Donovan Bane Tue, 26th Feb '02, 6:35pm Best Drink: Johnny Walker, all colors
Worst Drink: Concrete Mixer (Bailey's mixed with lime juice)... don't try this one, just pour some in a glass, see what it does and then think about it in you stomach.
TheBlackRose Tue, 26th Feb '02, 9:10pm I like FruitWorks. Tons of sugar in that stuff. :) I also like almost any kind of root beer.
Sprite Wed, 27th Feb '02, 5:56am What? What? This is an old topic? :wail:
I got all excited seeing the juxtaposed posts about "Sprite" and "all of us here love beautiful women". But, since I now realise they were posted before I arrived, I guess I *don't* have a fan club after all... :(
I love beer. I don't like soft drinks much but root beer is OK- although maybe just because it has "beer" in the title! My favorite non-alcoholic drink is Perrier.
sorvo Wed, 27th Feb '02, 8:30am Beer and water! I don't drink anything else:)
Asmodeus Wed, 27th Feb '02, 12:32pm A good glas of Saint Emilion Grand Cru 1989 or a handwarmed glas of pure Lagavullin 12 years old single malt both to be sipped near a burning hearth.....
DragonRider SkyWard Wed, 27th Feb '02, 12:37pm ROOT BEER!!!!
SUNKIST!!!!
SUNNY DELIGHT!!!!!
PEPSI!!!!
I cant think of any more!!
Arabwel Wed, 27th Feb '02, 1:06pm Lesse...
Alcoholic: Tequila Sunrise
Non-alcoholic: Water, orange juice, and Coca-Cola! Lots better than Pepsi. :)
Ara
(Can diffrentiate between most cola drinks available in Finland by taste only, having done so since the age of 12)
Ragusa Wed, 27th Feb '02, 1:39pm Oh, a reanimated topic - and it only smells slightly rotten :D
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, then :D
non-alcoholic: A very cool Coke on a very hot day from a glass-bottle (no bloody Pepsi :flaming:) is extremely refreshing - though then even pure water is wonderful ;) Iron Bru and turkish Uludag are definitely weird! And the best soft drink anyway is either green-yasmine tea or 1st flush SFTGFOP with scottish water.
alcoholic: Kölsch beer is always nice, especially under the circumstane that can make me enjoy a coke. I also like a wide variety of other german and czeck beers plus a few dutch, french and belgian beers. English and irish beers, though a completely different kind of brew, are nice too. Red wine is great just like scotch - there I prefer Talisker, Laphroaig, Highland Park and others ... unfortunately I can only rarely afford them :(
hard drinks: Coffee is absolutely awesome, a little corrosive though ... :hahaerr: :mommy:
[This message has been edited by Ragusa (edited February 27, 2002).]
Slith Wed, 27th Feb '02, 2:17pm The absolute best drink to drink is WHISKEY!!!
Ironbeard Wed, 27th Feb '02, 11:54pm As far as alcohol goes, I'm not much of a big drinker. I really dislike all wines and spirits I've tried, and I'm not all that hot on the weaker drinks either. I like sweet cider, and quite like the lagers everyone is fond of saying aren't real drinks. I tried a few stouts (Beamish and Guiness) and found them interestingly different, but they seem like a bit of an acquired taste to me. Generally I prefer soft drinks, which are what this topic is about anyway. I go for Irn-Bru and a variety of lemonade type drinks - I don't really have the subtlety of taste to tell different brands of the same kind of drink apart. Oh, and also tea. I don't go in for fancy stuff - I have no taste- Tetley teabags do me just fine.
The reason I don't like many alcoholic drinks is probably because I've not been drinking long. I only turned eighteen in December, and before that I was apprehensive about being caught drinking underage.
sorvo Thu, 28th Feb '02, 3:50am Don't start now IronBeard! I started at 18 and haven't stopped yet:sosad:
DeBhaal Stasion Thu, 28th Feb '02, 4:08am I prefer (non-alcoholic anyway) pepsi over anything else..but will drink pretty much any soft-drink.
Now alcoholic well...no beer, very bad taste(accidently tired it once when little--about4-5--..will never have it again). No boxed wine (another example of bad taste while younger). Scottish Whiskey is pretty good, if you dont try to down the whole bottle on the first try anyway. Im kind of suprised no one has said Crown and Coke, or some other soft-drink, that is pretty good to, also good with Mountain Dew.
/me begins to wonder about further drinking habits, considering hes only 16...
sorvo Thu, 28th Feb '02, 4:25am I had a friend that started drinking whiskey at that age. The first time we drank together him and I drank a bottle of Southern Comfort in 2 hours! This was my first whiskey exp at 20, and I spent the rest of the night in the toilet pukeing nothing(DRY HEEVES). He was fine and dealt with my mother who was looking for me at 4 in the morning. He's been dead for a few years now from a DUI Accident:angel:
Arabwel Thu, 28th Feb '02, 7:32am Well, I forgot to mention tea as well, but I am a bit choosy when it comes to tea :)
I especially love green tea, with a hint of mint, withh lots of sugar. And never milk. Never.
Starting drinking, as in alcoholic beverages, before you're legal is pretty easy. I mean, I've been able to buy my own drinks in a bar since I was 14, and, actually, when I was 12, I bought a bottle of Koskenkorva, which is defined as "hard stuff", for my cousin from a liquor store...
Drinking is okay, when one keeps common sense in the game. :)
Ara
(Skipping lessons.... I need a good kick on the head.... would give me a reason to skip more :))
sorvo Thu, 28th Feb '02, 9:08am Well it's not as easy in the USA as it is every where else:( No wonder why we have the worst problems;)
Christopher_Lee Thu, 28th Feb '02, 6:11pm The thing is, when you really need a nice cool beer, and you get one, there is nothing in the world that could possibily be any better except for a pint of a different beer (sometimes).
[This message has been edited by Christopher_Lee (edited February 28, 2002).]
C'Jakob Fri, 1st Mar '02, 3:19am Hmph. Only around 3 or 4 tea-drinkers around here. I really enjoy tea; it's quick, cheap, and healthy (I've taken to at least 3-4 cups a day). I also like plain ol' water and the occassional soft drink. I never really intend to drink liquor except a glass of wine everyone now and then.
the god Fri, 1st Mar '02, 2:57pm wow CJ- an american who drinks tea! i'll send you a 'how to spell properly' leaflet and we'll make you an honorary briton.
Damona Silvercloud Fri, 1st Mar '02, 3:23pm Goddy, did you not see my post?
the god Sun, 3rd Mar '02, 6:10pm sorry DS! ;) don't usually check through profiles- only inferrred CJ's nationality from the fact that he uses a Longman dictionary! LONG LIVE TEA!
total Sun, 3rd Mar '02, 6:16pm Pissing after it! :D
Arahar Sun, 3rd Mar '02, 9:05pm Tea All kinds Earl Grey is best
Not much in the way of Alcohol but I do like a well aged Irish Whiskey
Soft drinks no thank you.
Coffee is a godsend.
C'Jakob Mon, 4th Mar '02, 12:15am Well, I'm Chinese-American, so that's why I drink tea and everything. So you weren't far from the mark, Goddy. :)
