I thought of this topic today while I was making a ball out of rubber bands when maybe I should have been doing something else...so how do you waste time at work?

View Full Version : wasting time at work Dragonfly Tue, 16th Sep '03, 10:04pm I thought of this topic today while I was making a ball out of rubber bands when maybe I should have been doing something else...so how do you waste time at work? Rallymama Tue, 16th Sep '03, 10:12pm Reading SP... duh... ;) Falstaff Tue, 16th Sep '03, 10:34pm You're looking at it. Death Rabbit Tue, 16th Sep '03, 10:47pm *raises hand* Yeah, ditto. JSBB Tue, 16th Sep '03, 10:55pm Me too. Hmm, only six minutes to go until I can go home. :) chevalier Wed, 17th Sep '03, 12:55am Does university count? When it gets really boring, I start drawing female elves. Depending on how boring it gets and how much coffee I've drunk, it's faces or whole bodies. When for some reason I can't or don't feel like drawing female elves (for example having drunk four coffees at the hour of nine in the morning), I start flirting with the closest suitable female in sight. If #1 there's no such object in reach, or #2 I'm currently sticking to just one such object for a longer time, I take a fantasy or sci-fi book and read it as though it were a course book. If I have no book, I say good night :D Pac man Wed, 17th Sep '03, 2:43am I can't waste any time on the job, or else i'd fall from my ladder. :D Arabwel Wed, 17th Sep '03, 8:04am Does school count? :p For me, it's a lot like Chev, except that I don't flirt with the females (no suitable ones here... :( ) and I draw male elves. Usually.... um, better stay quiet. Of course, I read all the time, too :D Aikanaro Wed, 17th Sep '03, 8:56am My bludge book is full of One Word Stories and games of PnP Worms :D Arabwel Wed, 17th Sep '03, 10:05am PnP WORMS?!?!? Thankies, now I wish that I had people to play PnP Worms with.... Kralizek Wed, 17th Sep '03, 10:18am Waste time at work ? Noway ! ;) Usually I get involved in long and *ahem* fruitful discussions while enjoying looong coffee breaks... Or then I come to SP. Master of Nuhn Wed, 17th Sep '03, 2:05pm Chatting up with female customers iso selling them stuff... LKD Wed, 17th Sep '03, 4:26pm SP, of course. And various Microsoft games like Hearts . . . I should be shot! Loerand Wed, 17th Sep '03, 4:46pm At school I use to repaint pictures in my books. It's awsome to make everyone look like a devil  BigStick Wed, 17th Sep '03, 5:11pm I'm here aren't I? ;) Faragon Wed, 17th Sep '03, 5:26pm At work when there aren't any customers in the store and I've finished all my work aside from manning the register, I pick up a book and read. I used to stare out the window, but once you've done that for an hour or 6 with only brief interruptions of work, you start getting really bored. :) Ancalìmon Wed, 17th Sep '03, 7:18pm at school i mostly kill time by sketching in my sketch book Baldrak Wed, 17th Sep '03, 8:43pm Playing BG2 when I'm supposed to be writing my thesis Apeman Wed, 17th Sep '03, 8:50pm Work, school what's the dif ;) night_hawk Wed, 17th Sep '03, 10:15pm wow im still studying but i plann to get a sidejob at mcdonalds Rallymama Thu, 18th Sep '03, 7:33pm @MoN: Chatting up with female customers iso selling them stuff... Selling the salesman as well as the merchandise, eh? And just WHAT kind of commissions do you get?! ;) Big B Thu, 18th Sep '03, 8:01pm As a person seeking employment now, its mind boggling to hear about all these people goofing off at work. I'll gladly work and leave SP and the web at home. Because when it's my time off, it's my time off. The opposite should be true. It's a two way street. Besides, aren't you afraid your boss will find out about this idle use of time at work and shut your operation down? LKD Thu, 18th Sep '03, 9:08pm Well, Ben, that sucks for you that you're looking for a job. As a teacher, I have a fair amount of time in class that I cannot use to do too much because I don't want to be banging around while kids are working or writing a test. Conversely, a large amount of my time at home is spent marking and preparing. So it kind of evens out! As long as I'm learnin' the young 'uns good, it's all good. Sprite Thu, 18th Sep '03, 10:05pm I don't have any clients now, which *should* mean I'm focusing on my doctoral research, but *actually* means I'm on SP a lot and will shortly be playing Greyhawk a lot (hey, it's sort of like a job, I'm writing the walkthrough). Thank God I have no internet access in my office on campus (only temporarily, due to construction work). At least there I can really force myself to work undisturbed. Here at my home office I'm being really, really, really bad. |
