What are some of the best lines in a song? I think one of my favorite lines if from the song Helter Skelter by the Beatles:
When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide where I stop and turn and go for a ride, and I get to the bottom and I see you again, Yea Yea Yea!
Whats the best lyrics?

Big B:..."And if you play Defender I can be your Hyperspace!!!"

These lines are from a song from Warren Zevon called "Hit Somebody!" It's a ballad about a the life of a Canadian hockey player...He wanted to be a scorer, but didn't have the knack, so he became an enforcer. The lyrics for the full song can be read here, but I pasted my favorite part:

http://www.hotlyrics.net/index.php3?frame=viewlyric.php3?id=15518

In his final season on his final night
Buddy and a Finn goon were pegged for a fight
30 seconds left and the puck took a roll
And suddenly....
Buddy had a shot on goal
The goalie committed
But he picked his spot
20 years of waiting went into that shot
The fans jumped up
And the Finn jumped too!
He cold-cocked Buddy on his follow through
The big man crumbled
But he felt alright
'Cause the last thing he saw was the flashing red light
he saw that heavenly light....

Beautiful!!! Doesn't it bring tears to your eyes?!?!? :thumb:

I was so unaware as I sank into my leather chair.
Something was creepin' in.
My castle walls were wearing thin.
It took a fire to inspire me to make my move.

Changed the ways of this corporate man.
It was time for a radical plan.

And i'm so unprepared
So here's your valentine
Bouque of clumsy words

But you're so beautiful to me I think those lryics are great
And even though some people will think "Bah its blink 182"
I think that these lryics have a point that can be reflected upon.

It's better to burn out, then fade away.
The King is gone but he's not forgotten. Neil Young, "My My, Hey Hey"

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armour comin' saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singin', and drummers drummin' and the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowin' to the sun that was floating on the breeze.

Look at Mother Nature on the run in the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run in the nineteen seventies.Neil Young, "After the Gold Rush"

Now you say you're leavin' home
'Cause you want to be alone,
Ain't it funny how you feel
When you're findin' out it's real.

Oh to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the coloured ballons.
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinkin' that you're leavin' there too soon.
You're leaving there too soon.

Why are most quotes in here from rocksongs :) I like that.... a reward for rock-music, one of the few music types where the writers care about the lyrics.

Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On.

I used to be frightened of dying
I used to think death was the end
That was before
I'm not scared anymore
I know that my sould will transcend
If I die tomorrow
I'll be allright
Because I believe
That after I'm gone
The spirit carries on.

Move on, be brave
don't weep at my grave
Beacause I'm no longer here.
But please never let
Your memories of me disappear

Safe in the light that surrounds me
Free of the fear and the pain
My questioning mind
has helped me to find
the meaning in my life again.

if they wanted to
There's nothing to keep me sane
and it's all the same to you
There's nowhere to set my aim
so I'm everywhere
Never come near me again
do you really think I need you
Dream Theater - Space-Dye Vest

Looking out on a blue sky
I can see a new world arising
Like a prisoner unbound
I feel the power and the majesty
again

Looking up to the heavens
I can see what I left behind
Beneath the stars, moon and
warm sun
And all I know,
is my paradise has begun...

Why are most quotes in here from rocksongs Popmusic is blind and commercial, they only sing about a good world they´re experiencing with girls, money, fancy cars and fame. Not a world were are living in.

Most of the time the artist don´t even write the lyrics themselves, they only have a cute face, a good voice but not the brains to write songs themselves.
And when they write the lyrics themselves it just crap, with a lot of oh´s and "give it baby" because they are just to stupid to come with something better!!

Heh, I just needed to say that

Pushing little children, with their fully automatics, they like to push the weak around

And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
- Long December, Counting Crows

Let's see colors that have never been seen
Let's go to places no one else has been
- Electrical Storm, U2

She was your woman but she was my girl
One on one, the queen of two worlds
- Ours, Sugar Ray (the rest of the song has nothing to do with anything, but it's me and Joy's favorite Sugar Ray song - which was a funny surprise since I feel it's about her)

And of course, any U2 or Oasis lyric is guaranteed to be something great!
