Hey there, I know I may be totally out of line asking this question, and if you think I am feel free to close this topic, but I'm doing a project at Uni about running and financing a website. I'm quite intersted in the system Tal has for this site, whereby he gets percentages on stuff bought from Amazon, and would like to learn more about it. Also if anyone has any information or links they may consider relevant to this project, please let me know.
Thanks

Another question to go with that Tal. Does it cost anything to run this site or to get it up and running?

Well these questions would be better addressed to myself personally. Spilling it out for everyone would only be making it easier for competition, if nothing else.
But aside from my time (which is valuable enough in itself), there are other expenses such as domain name registration, the chatroom, Elminster (shell account), some software used in connection with the site (UBB as well), etc.
The server is not paid for out of my pocket however, RPGDot is hosting us, so kudos to them. ;)

Call me a dirty red.
But wouldn't it be easier to help other sites, in an attempt to create a community online? You get bored with one, you go to another. Besides, it does not have to be all about RPGs. You help out a bands site, a literature site etc.
Might help people become more sociable.
