Well, I posted something of this nature a few months, or years, ago, but I didn't want to look for, or resurrect it, so here: What pets do you own, take care for, whatever you want to call it?

I have a cat. I used to have 4 cats, but one got hit by a car, one had to be put down, and the other is now living with a family my mom knows. :rolling:

We had three cats up until we moved. They had a marking problem for years, and we weren't about to have them peeing all over the new house.

One dog, Zuzu, super effectionate, but not a canine rocket scientist. She's about 8 years old now and still acts like a puppy most of the time.

(I am deathly allergic to cats and therefore despise them.)

I used to have a rat named Silk. He died less than a week after I got him. End of story.

Of course, I've always had pretty much free reign over my uncle's various dogs.

But a real pet? Nope, nothing like that in my life.

Wait! Does Chev count? He is, after all, my *****... or does Eze count? I do have her following me around on a leash occasionally.....

Cats, they are the best. What more, they alll come equiped with a pre learned trick. Go in the kitty litter. You can try for years and years to teach them anything more, but its used up. They go in the kitty litter, thats it. But they rule. Had a cat for 16 years. It was older than me. We put it down last year. Nero was his name. For those of use that have read Footrot Flats, Nero was horse incarnate.
We've had about 3 dogs. A rotweiler named Isaac, deceased, an border collie X blue heeler named Fergus, deceased, and an ex piggin' dog, part ridgeback, part mastiff, part godknowswhat named Bear, Alive.

One cat. Her name is Ghost and she's 13 years old. She likes to sleep under the covers on cold winter nights and she's had a hairless belly since she was about 3 years.

Freely translated, one of my cats is called Fluffy, because he is ... fluffy and the other is called Spot becasue he is all red, except for a white spot between the eyes (and white paws). Fluffy is also red.
Cats are fun

edit: In dutch they are Pluis and Vlekkie

Oh names for our pets as well.
My dog is called Orsa, which is really spelt Asa with the first A having a little o on top, which I can't write on my key board so I just spell it how it is pronounced. Anyway, that is a norwigen girls name which my parents liked, so they named our dog it.

Our oldest can is called Misty, because she is a greyish sort of colour. She is 13 now, same age as Orsa.

You younger cat is called Stroke, don't ask why, my sister named him. He's probably around 7 years old now.

Our oldest fish is called Jaguar because he, according to my sister, looked like a Jaguar when we got him. The younger fish is called Fish 11, because... well, it sounded good at the time. Oh, and we are getting another fish soon, from my grandparents, who acorrding to them is over 20 years old

Our Rabbit is called Charlie, once again my sister is responsible for that name. I wanted to name him Rabbit :(
He's about one year old.

And the two ginnypigs are called Tony and Nibbles, and they are a few months old.

So our pets (- the fish) are Orsa Stroke(s) Misty, and Charlie Nibbles Tony.

A cat and a few fish I'm patiently caring for until they die so I can finally get rid of the tank (which is way too big for them alone). The problem is, they're not showing any inclination of dying any time soon. Those 8 or so left have been going for 2 years now after all the others have died already. Survival of the fittest can sure mess up your plans. :square:

I have an 8 year old golden retriever called Sandy, who is overweight and a complete muppet. We just got her a week ago (after spending six months in a cell because she came from Houston). She used to live with our uncle, but because he works away from home a lot she was very lonely and rarely got walks, so he gave her to us.

We also used to have a spaniel called Spike who was with me since I was born. He died 5 years ago and I miss him still.

Does my beloved coffee expresso that I hug and kiss and pet and stroke count? :D :coffee:

Eric the Red. My cat.

The red bastard is also called Richard sometimes. It matches the snob he is (we pronounce it the special way ;) ). The thing is that the diminutive short form we use is genetically one of Richard, but matches Eric too. It also means lynx, and he's similar to one in appearance, therefore dimunution was assigned prior to full form, that is when we realised he's a freaking bloodthirsty predacious bastard with infinite stealth abilities, that is unless he really screws up and it's heard within ten miles area.

The other gentleman is Napolean, my tortoise. Got his name because he was small yet grand and because of the face.

Survival of the fittest can sure mess up your plans.Hehe. Why do I always sense a hidden meaning :D ;)

Er, I have a rock named Bruce Lee. Does that count?

Until recently, I had a cat named Lucifer - and the name was well chosen, because she was more often than not possesed or just plain evil. Unfortunately, my little "Bright One" has met her own apocalypse - age finally caught up with her wicked little soul.

*sniff* I miss my little demon cat...

I don't have a pet right now, but I've been thinking about getting a dog - and naming it Bel or Belisarius. Here are the animals I've had in the past:

FLash and Speedy (Hamsters - they died and I buried them in tastykake pie boxes in the backyard)

Fluffy (a mutt dog I had when I was 5-6, no clue what kind of dog it was)

Atlas and Tioga (Two boa constrictors...Atlas grew to about 6 feet and Ti was about 4, but then my mom made me get rid of them)

Snoopy (Technically, my dad's dog...But he was cool!)

Jay (A baby bluejay I found. I kept it and fed it for about a year...Then it just flew away one day. Which I guess proves that old saying)

Annie (a golden retriever my parents had...again technically not mine, but she was cool.)

Kodiak (Kodi for short) a black lab/rottweiler mix my parents picked up at the SPCA. Again, not mine...But I think he thinks I was one of his litter mates - whenever I go to see him he whines and nibbles on my ears...

I've also had various turtles/fish/frog/tadpoles that I caught in the pond near my home when I was a pup...Waaay too numerous to name or count.

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting a rottweiler ro some similar big type dog...I need something to wrestle around with. I also have two squirrels in my yard that I've named Squirrelly and Twitchy...But I'm trying to kill/capture & relocate them...So I guess they don't count...

I currently have a turtle named Tommy but I wouldn't be able to tell you if he's a red-eared slider or a painted turtle. I would say he's a painted turtle but he has a yellow bottom and red "ears" -- painted turtles have red bottoms and not usually red ears (though some of them around where I live do.) See, I used to have a painted turtle named Shelly but she died and when we went to get a new turtle; Tommy was all they had and even the person there had no idea what type he really was. *mutters about incompetent people* So yeah... I have Tommy. I also have a bunch of fish -- but those are feeder fish (in other words Tommy eats them) so they don't really count. In between Tommy and Shelly though I had these three fish named Greg, Josh, and Crystal (two boys one girl goldfish and you can usually tell by both the shading and length of the tail) And Greg got to be about 2/3rds the size of Tommy before he was eaten by the turtle. It was kind of freaky because I thought Greg was WAY too big to eat. Just to goes to show you. . . Oh and my sister has some goldfish in her room that she "rescued" from my turtle.

We would have a dog (cuz everyone in my family loves dogs) but we're not allowed. And we would have a cat but half of my family's allergic to them. And we would have a hampster but my parents don't really trust my sister with pets (which makes sense, I wouldn't consider her trustworthy). So other than aquatic animals there's always the crows and mockingbirds outside my house that get in fights with each other. (It's true. Westbubble used to have no mockingbirds and my house had like tons of crows... and then in the past two years we've gotten all these mockingbirds which have been trying to drive the crows away. It's fun) That and bats... One of these days I'm going to get around to building a bat house. :) Did you know that one bat can eat up to 600 mosquitoes in an hour? Take that West Nile virus!

Aerie is a 2-year old mutt, half German Shepherd and half Dachshund. She's a beautiful and loving dog, although she moans and whines a lot, but (due to being badly bred and rescued from a bad home situation at the age of six months) turns into a psycho killer if anyone sets foot on our property. A great guard dog despite our continuous and expensive efforts to socialise her, and she's the most loving and loyal baby to me I could ever hope for.

Aiken Drum (aka the "Squink" because he looks like a mutant cross between a squirrel and a mink) is an Ocicat who looks exactly like an Abyssinian (Ocis are bred from Abyssinians, Siamese and American Shorthairs and he's a throwback). He is long, skinny, and red, has the most enormous bushy tail and a little foxy face, and is so affectionate that he's constantly bruising us and the dog by bashing his forehead into us with tremendous force. He also lovebites, a habit we are trying to break, and loves to drop backwards into a lap and lie there like a dead beetle with all four paws in the air.

Khalid is the biggest, stupidest, most beautiful cat in the world. I fell madly in love with him at first sight, typical woman fallling for a big dumb brute. He probably weighs about 18 to 20 lbs of solid muscle, is tan with dark brown leopard-spots, and moves with the powerful grace of a lion. His hobbies include eating electronics, shredding curtains, chewing all the cords on blinds and the wires behind our PCs, and trying to rape the dog. He does not seem to be aware that there are human beings in the house, but follows Aerie everywhere miaouing piteously and rubbing his face all over her. When we take her for walks, Khalid spends the entire time we're gone throwing himself pathetically at the window trying to be reunited with her. They sleep snuggled together and he doesn't mind that *her* main hobby is trying to carry him around by his scalp.

Jaheira is a tiny, perfectly gorgeous silver ocicat - black leopard-spots on a shimmering silver coat. Unfortunately she is bottom-heavy and waddles like a duck, but is the very picture of beauty and grace when she sits still. She has enormous copper eyes as big as saucers, almost rabbit-like long ears, and an incredibly loud Siamese voice. She follows my husband around like a puppy and sleeps snuggled on his legs, and pretty much hates everyone else of any species. She screams and hisses so loudly the dog is afraid of her. However, sometimes she deigns to let me pet her so long as I don't try to pick her up, and purrs as loudly as a Husqvarna chain saw.

My 'new' roommate (I got a room this week) has got a tarantula, a special one and not very friendly. I thought I had seen big spiders before but seemingly I was wrong!

I think I'll buy a rat and a snake and call them Wout and Sssmitssy.

A stout and tall tomcat named Felix (or Sidi but I dislike that name) who, unlime my g/f claims, is not fat but just that, stout.

We had some 18 cats or so before and I can only remember the longer residents: that is our first cat, named "The old one" a roamer who just stayed long enough to raise two times five kittens, three of the last few we kept: Felix (fat black and white tomcat), Molly (black & white) and Möhrchen (something like: Blackie), my beloved black cat - she stayed with us 16 years and I grew up with her.
She, subsequently also got kittens, seven, and that was about the time when Molly and Felix the elder disappeared. Of the seven we only kept a small tiger for a while until Möhrchen drove her away.

Three months after Möhrchen died :( we decided that a house without a cat lacks its good ghost we went to the animal home and found Felix, who's with us for a few years now.

2 goofy dogs, 2 jewish fish, several frogs (in my yard; amphibians, not French citizens), and as of yesterday, 2 cats.

My 19-year-old cat Gizmo died yesterday. After days of suffering with kidney failure and severe arthritis, we had to put her to sleep. I'm pretty distraught about it. For God's sakes, I've had that damn cat since I was 5 years old. I don't know life without her. I'm a bit of a blubbery mess, at least on the inside. :( :wail:

Didn't know where else to post this - I detest random babbling. :(

Goodbye, Modie.

Their names are Abraham Gillstein (we call him Gill) and Gefilte (we call him Phil). They're Betas, so they kinda look like they have ear locks. ;) :p No we're not jewish, we just thought it would be funny.

Oh - and thanks for the hug - I needed it. :) My aunt had to do the same thing as you when she moved from Utah to Nevada. She had 3 farm cats who were all pretty sick anyway, and wouldn't have survived the trip, or had room at the new home, a small condo on a golf course.
