Whatever the topic leads you to understand, the purpose of this thread is to bring out, discuss, and laugh at all sorts of weird things about this and that. One thing I got in mail just today was this:

Interesting, isn't it? This really works in every language, at least I got my post translated into Finnish, and I translated some of that into Swedish as well just for the fun of it.
Just remembered something. I discovered around 2 weeks ago a "gift" that I wasn't aware of before. In my work I sometimes have to go through extensive listings of information. I was getting kind of tired with back then and just let my eyes browse the whole list through without bothering to really read anything. I noticed I just automatically stopped whenever what I was looking for came in front of my eyes. So I tried this some more and surprisingly I could browse as much as 30-50 names within a second and simply subconsciously know when I'd found what I was looking for. And this wasn't a questionf of just catching the first numeral / alphabetical letter. Many of the things had to be read as far as the next 3-4 markings before any difference between other names came apparent (which means, you'd have to figure the word in whole without just leading the first markings in order for it to work). I had to concentrate to do it of course, but the error margin was somewhere within a measly few percentages after I started using it actively. I know from my psychology lessons that a human can grasp the base concepts of many things far faster than the conscious mind can manage, but it's still nice to see this in practice, especially about a thing that won't gain any advantage from previous training or somesuch.
