When I joined SP a couple of weeks ago, I did so assuming that I was more or less alone on the high end of the membership age scale; that didn’t really bother me since the quality of the posts on the Boards indicated a maturity of members not necessarily reflective of their actual ages. Since joining, however, a number of recent posts have me wondering whether I really am such an anomaly, and thus the purpose of this poll. I know that similar threads have dealt with the age topic in the past, but I’m particularly interested in hearing from people over, say, 30. (This is not to say that the under-30 crowd isn’t welcome to participate.)

So, I’m an immature 43. How old are you?

Man! These boards are filled by a bunch of old farts! Heh, just kidding. In about a day or two all the youngin's will have voted and anyone older than 30 will be a minority!

How should I say this? People of elder age (is this acceptable? ;) ) are pretty common on these boards. And I'm thankfull for that. Often, they can give a whole new perspective on things.

I'm not alone, at age 30 I thought I was a total freak of nature here on S.P. (please, no comments on the freak of nature thing)

No wonder Mat, Rallymama, DMC, and Sir Bel always strike a chord with me.

As for Kitrax, Faragon (yes, I spelled it right), chevalier, and of course the Rabbit of Death, you might be youngn's but I always value your words.

Well, I think I have some mixed feelings here.
On the one hand, so far according to the poll, 10 people are 30 and over. That's 40% of the total (but probably not statistically valid).
On the other hand, I'm the only one 40 +, so I’m still the oldest (I’m not sure whether that entitles me to respect or scorn); so Greenlion420, it appears that I may be the freak of nature. In any event, I’m still hoping a few more “old farts” (thanks a lot, Kitrax) will come out of the closet, so to speak.
And Rallymama, October 23rd is marked on my calendar :)

@ Aragorn II - The ironic thing is people always tell me I look about 10 years younger than I really am; that was a problem when I was 30 and still getting asked for ID in bars, but now its great. (Of course, they only say this when they look at me straight on since the top of my head is severely follicly challenged :( )
Anyway, the last thing you want to see is my ugly mug; plus, your computer would probably blow up. :)

And I see I'm still the only one over 40 (Rallymama's husband notwithstanding); October 23 can't come soon enough.

@ Faragon - check this out -- we played outside. You know, sports in the street, at the park, etc. At night, we read books (by candlelight, heh) or watched TV (when I was young, our TV was -- gasp -- black and white, had no remote and got all of 6 channels in with any clarity). Computers were the size of industrial warehouses and were programmed by punch cards. There were no computer RPG's and D&D had yet to be invented. Oh the agony!

@ Aragorn II....it's funny you should mention wondering how we all look. I associate our names with our avatars. every time i start a new game and pick a portrait used on S.P. i have a hard time not naming that char for their S.P. counterpart. i just started NWN again and guess what? I'm playing as Mat. I know i'm off topic, but i find this funny.

I'm three weeks from my 30th birthday. Whee.

Thought I was 33 until last week, found out Im 32 :o

They had my grandpa ... accidentally. So they added "1" to their anniversary, moved to a different town, and pretended to be good Calvinists.

No one ever knew ... until my family threw them a 75th anniversary party. My great grandpa (great grandma had passed away) broke into tears and confessed the whole things.

By today's standards, not a big deal. Back then, this was a huge scandal and had tortured him his whole life.

(He's with Jesus now and knows its okay!)
