There are a BUNCH of topic related to "what is your age, sex, tastes etc".
Would it be possible to expand a profile of a user (the one you can access by the small button at the top of the post) to be able to put there some info people want others to know?

I don't know...Sifting through the posts tends to be a lot more fun!!!!

I think that's an excellent idea.

Within the users profile, you could post your personal picture (if you had one or wanted people to see), have your age and recieve a reminder post that it's only so many days away, have a list of hobbies, your top 10 movies and music bands, if you're currently single, ICQ#, MSN name and other message boards you frequent.

I hope your idea is taken into serious consideration.

Oh no for sure it would be very sweet.

It would bring the community so much closer together and also allow the new members to get a taste of who is replying to their posts.

Certainly bringing more depth is never a bad thing. I'm looking forward to this being addressed in the future.

Hate to break this to you Modjahed, but you can already do this. Simply write the info you want people to be able to access into your Interests field in your user preferences and everyone will be able to see them. You can put a link to your picture there as well if you want. Or put a link to your picture in the home page field, if you don't actually have a homepage. Because if you did, you could always link to the About Me section on it.

I'm very surprised that Sylvus, of all people, knows nothing about it. Ah well, goes to show that you can't win them all I suppose. Learn something new every day, eh Syl?

But just FYI Modjahed, very few people will bother to read that info there. People open topics like this here to start discussions that many participate in and that go way further than simple info you write up and never bother to update.
The whole point of message boards is to have live discussions going on, not just reading static text like on websites. ;)

My point was: I started this thread with a simple idea. Look where it went?

The topic that was just below was about home countries. Can you calculate, what percent of all post in that thread concerned COUNTRIES? Less than 50%.
If I want to know, say, the age of Sir Bel (just for instance) I can make a search on the forum and will have to read at least 100 posts that don't interest me that much.

HOWEVER! I actually received an answer to my question. I am putting the info to my profile right now.

The interests field is too short - it has a length limit.

Can something be done? (Not that I want to expose myself that much to the outside world, but I still want to put in my music preferences :D)

Now a stupid question. I do not need a personal site right now. So is it possible to put a small picture somewhere on this site, or it will be clogged up if everyone starts sending in the pictures of themselves?

At the time that a new user registers, a new user doesn't feel like writing up all that personal information about themselves and certainly the shorter the form, the better. I usually hate filling in those online forms, so I quite like it the way it is, and there are indeed quite enough fields in your profile to fill.
Plus don't forget the icq number, those of us who feel like it already put all the interests and hobbies and quotes and whatsnots there all bundled with as much demographic info about u, that most people would not even care for... To me those icq spaces are mostly wasted space, and the same is very likely to happen here.

Oh I knew about it, but he asked for information people would want to know. The profile that is available has nothing worth of note.

That is why the suggestions I made and those who wanted to see those suggestions in action are interested in having them happen.

Sir Belisarius, Lord Bane, Sniper and myself to name a few would love to see a profile with your current age, date of birth with reminder messages when you log into the message board, list of hobbies, top 10 music and movies and other great information at the click of the button.

The community is looking forward to these changes for the future.

Unfortunately, I've stopped expecting anything from you some time ago. But thanks for all the efforts you've made while you still cared.

It was fun while it lasted, but it's time to move on. Therefor I'm promoting Blackthorne TA to the full status of Wizard. BTA has been with us for a long time and has proven himself worthy of the title many times over. I'm sure he'll continue to give you his finest in the future as well.

Hey Sniper, never in the world I had anything against your topic. It was a mere example of where the conversation can wag.

And Syl, I hate to see something like that happen. But I know for myself that there are periods in life, when you just stop caring. It is only passing.
What is interesting though, that I remember the time back in summer, when after a couple of posts (mine included) on the IWD board, where we suggested that for doing such a good job on the solution and helping people so much (in fact Syl had more posts than ANYONE back then) he should be promoted. The next day he became a Wizard.

I really hate telling people how they should behave and how to live their life, or run their business, so I'm not very comfortable with this post. It's your boards, Tal, and u can do whatever u want. But u should also learn to let some people let be...and they will surprise u, I promise u.

Syl is so pissed off at BG2 because he fell in love with it, before it even came out. Look at the archive, there u guys discussin the game in October...Yet somehow he hasn't managed to finish it :) He's really dissapointed and nurturing a broken RPGlover heart. To love something and then realise it's a fake (even if just in his own mind) is a rather ... unpleasant experience.
There's an evil side to Syl. But it's also a good side. I can understand the frustration of a player trying to find the third part of the rod, or keep searching for the hidden treasures. I was myself kinda thinking of taking on the ridiculous Airie just to see those wings grow back...Well u can get mad at him all u want, but u've got to admit it's pretty funny and what an imagination! :)

Syl, just sit down and make up your ending of BG2 I would love to read it, and who cares about the solution, there's plenty of them around for those who haven't finished the game 5 times yet...

I think Crawl is right. I think this thread should be closed. As far as Lo not being around long enough to know everything... Well I have. I've been on this board since the start and I have seen I lot of stuff. I have a lot of respect for both Tal and Syl. They both have put a lot of work into this board. A board that has brough a lot of enjoyment to over 1,000 people. I can't speak for everyone, but for myself it has been great.

I know Tal and Syl have fought but what happen was not a great surprise, but I hate to see Syl go. Tal is the webmaster and it is his site, but I hope Syl still shares his thoughts with us.
