I seem to remember something similar, but I can't find it on search, so I could be wrong.

Not sure if this belongs here or in SS, so I'll post here and would one of the mods please move it if I'm wrong.

Anyway, the topic of the poll. Which of the above have you used and which do you prefer?

Macs SUCK. Hate macs, we have to use them at school, and they are so downright nasty to use.

Macs? oh those computers that are like two years behind the rest of the gaming market. They also cost a bloody fortune and are hard to upgrade (I spent a summer working with them and changing RAM in a Mac is a pain in the arse to say the least.)

I can't really have an opinion here. I've always used Windows. ALWAYS. Incidentally, a Mac is a PC. If it is a personal computer, it is a pc. Which leaves me with the question of what the heck to refer to this humming box here when I want to differentiate it from Macs. Hmmm...

But really, I've never had much of a chance to use Macs. My family has used Windows since there was Windows, and every school I've gone to has had higher and higher versions. You know, I've got an old laptop, (and I do mean OLD) and it has Windows 3.1 on it. It just goes to show, you can be a Win user, and still not know what you're doing. I'm the only person I know who can still navigate 3.1. Of course, that makes switching from laptop to this hard on the brain, but whatever.

Windows 3.1? man, you're scaring me!
You aren't missing with Macs though, take it from someone who has had the misfortune to work with them.

I remember the last time I used a Mac was 8 or 9 years ago. And I was using it simultaneously with DOS, Windows 3.1, and Cross System Product (CPS - Mainframe). I find Mac to be the easiest to navigate but love the control that DOS gave. I still marvel at the one-button mouse and the unique shapes of Mac but I guess there are several things that would make you choose between using a Mac or an IBM PC/IBM Compatible (we'll call it PC for short). Personally, I can think of 5 things that I would consider when choosing between a Mac or PC.
Operating System Hardware Upgradability Software Availability Price CompatibilityWhere I live, all 5 things are won by PC by a landslide. When you say "computer" here, it automatically means PC. "I'm using a Mac." would actually get a raised eyebrow or a "Oh!, You're using a Mac?" or probably a "You're using what?". The last one can be an ignorant or a sarcastic answer. So do I hate Macs, no I don't hate them, I just don't use them.

The last Apple I used was an Apple IIgs. I have *VERY* fond memories of that IIgs.

Before that was a Laser128; and before that was a 64k IIe.

I tried messing around with a Mac a few years back. Had NO clue whatsoever on how to do anything, or where anything was. That's not to say Macs suck, that's just to say they are fairly different from msft's and Linux.

If I wasn't such a gamer, I'd probably think about getting a Mac. They cost out the wahzoo, though, compared with anything else. Of course, if I wasn't such a gamer, I'd just be using Linux all the time and forget about anything else.

So it's all relative. I think I could sit down and pay attention to someone teaching me how to use a Mac...

I have always been a mac user, and likely always will. I seem to be the only one here too. It's often like that, but I really don't care enough to have a strong opinion about it.

I simply prefer macs, and most of my friends, very few of them being mac users, agree that macs are "better", they simply use the PC because it is what is available to them or because they like the larger range of games.

Being no serious computer gamer myself, I cherish my mac. I'll not say either is better than the other, because seriously, it's apples and oranges. They don't go by the same standards.

Most of the (few) people I know that have Macs really like them, and seem to be quite passionate about it. Most of the people I know that have a Windows-based computer complain about it.

That said, I've always used a Windows-based PC for two reasons:
1)Every place I've ever worked at uses some version of Windows. It makes it easy to bring things home when I need to.
2)Games! The Mac has some good games, from what I've heard, but they are few and far between. Windows is definitely the gaming platform by any measure.

The Win 3.1 comments made me laugh. Remember how hard it was to get games to run on an IBM compatible back in those days? You had to tinker with your memory, edit config.sys and autoexec.bat files, soundcard settings, stuff like that. And forget running games in Windows, DOS was where it was at!

Being a Graphics/Media Student has taught me to respect Apples in a way, and not to brush them off instantly.

I use PC's with Windows ME OS at home for leisure and normal work, and Macs when I do Graphic or Media work.

The mac is better suited for the latter I would say, but my familiarity with windows is rather biased as such, and find it easier to use.

Same here - since I only know one OS in depth - Win98 SE - my preference is pretty clear :D Apples are nice and stable though, fine computers, and they have a nice design too :)

My brother-in-law works with graphics/signs/scenics on a day to day basis, for which Macs win hands down. So i have had access to a mac when i've wanted it.

Personally, i was seriously considering getting a mac a couple of months back when i was upgrading. But, it was the games thing that made me choose a "custom PC", ie PC, not a Mac.

I find macs really easy to use and Mac OS (whatever the latest version is) seems far more stable than any windows OS.

Lastly, the G3 processors are far more efficient than pentium processors.
