Can someone please detail the flurry of blows ability that a monk has in the DnD rpg please. Seems like a broken skill if I am reading it right could someone point out the disadvantages as well as advantages for me please.

The skill basically allows the monk to make an extra attack in a round. When using the ability all attacks are at a -2. Thus you get one more attack at the price of making all attacks that round at a higher to-hit number. Is that clear? The write up is on page 39 of the PHB.

Does that help?

I believe you are probably reading it as being able to do so more than once per round. For instance, 2 extra attacks at a -4? If this is the source of your confusion, it isn't that way. Say the monk gets a +5 attack bonus. With FoB, he makes two attacks at +3. He is not allowed to take 3 attacks at +1.

Oh, and, with Fists of Lightning, however, (see Sword and Fist) they may make 3 attacks at +0.

Wrong example Amon-Ra :)

When a Monk has a BAB of +5, he has 2 attacks, +5/+2, so with the Flurry of Blows 'activated' that'd become +3/+0/+3.

Just so you realize why Mysta hasn't responded, this was taken care of in the chatroom at the time of the post.
