Does anybody know how to assign challenge ratings to user-created monsters under the 3rd Edition rules?

The D&D site has a program to determine how much XP a rating is worth for a party. You can also do the math yourself. The key is to reverse-engineer it. Look on the chart in the MM and see how strong your new monster is to those listed. Once you have a rough idea where it goes run the numbers and see how much XP a party would get. This will get you a good feel for what rating to assign. I hope that helps.

That's good advice. I guess that's the only way, but I still wish there was something easier though. :(
