Anyone experienced that? I most definitely have. There where only 3 players in my group at the time (we where 12 or 13 or so) as the
rest of them had lost interest. Good riddance. They always got their hands on the adventures, read them and contested about who could kill most monsters and get most treasure. Well it all started with this player and his team of warrior-priest's and paladins. Followers of the noble god of light and goodness(eewww). Before the adventure they had to buy some suplies.
He was "lucky" enough to find a +3 gnome boomerang spear for only 10 gp.
Some while later he used it and of course it didn't work. So naturally he tracked the gnomes down and killed them. PALADINS!
A bit later he got a great idea.
Troll's are great fighters so why not have some in your party?! So then he breached a goblin village and slaugthered half the tribe to gain their leadership. The poor creatures where then forced to lead him near some trolls...well no he just needed some bait. 5 goblins later he gave up. There wasn't more than 20 goblins left, their morale was low and he had no gold.
So he burned several villages down and used the loot to hire a powerfull village to transform the goblins into trolls. I quickly made a random chart to determine the effects.
So he ended up with a large assortment of
elves, orcs, hobgoblins etc. No trolls.
So he ordered the mage to cast the spell again. Most of the goblins died, but one survived to become a troll. Then he ordered the mage to cast the spell again. Of course he refused as he hadn't enough spell-points left. The spell would kill him.
So he attacked him and the mage teleported away using his magic ring. The mage quickly
summoned his household army and ended the campaign. Thank god.

My PCs' party consists of three Chaotic Evil characters, one Lawful Good(the chaotic evils beat on him alot) and one Chaotic Good leaning towards True Chaotic. This leads to some rather funny encounters. The chaotic good Warrior/Sorcerer forced the lawful good Warrior/Wizard to down two glasses of potent liquor in a bar and getting him drunk. He was pissed when the effect wore off. Through all this, the Chaotic Evils were off, having decided that all Halflings are irritating. They first ordered the construcion of four siege engines, heavy catapults to be exact. Then the hired crews to man them, and soldiers to fight for them. They took this small army to the local Halfings' Casino and Inn and took the place over, slaughtering all the halflings within. All in all, my campaigns are really just a series of improvised encounters and plot twists. The PCs love it. Right now, the Lawful Good has just incurred the wrath of a mighty wizard who became irate simply by the irritating presence of the character, and is now seeking to send him into the next world. If anyone reads this whole long-winded post I will be rather surprised, kinda happy too...
