Where can I find the multitude of protection and protection removal spells in print(the ones used in bg2). Such spells as warding whip, breach, mantle, etc.?...Are these spells 3rd edition or 2nd edition...I need a rule lawyer to help me out.

Plenty of choices :

* in the BG2-manual
* somewhere on this site (methinks, otherwise somewhere else :p )
* get yourself a copy of the Player's Handbook
* download this very sourcebook (for example here (http://members.nbci.com/Alchordian/adndbooks/))

To answer that other question, BG2 is based on 2nd Edition rules.
