Stats for Thomas the Bard under 3E:
28 pt buy
Str 13
Dex 14
Con 10
Int 13
Wis 8
Cha 16
Feat Dodge
Thomas will use bow first, then longsword.
Now, fire away, tell me where I'm going wrong...

Hey Erran, what are you doing with all the double posts? I've deleted a double of yours yesterday (which you posted an hour after the original), but this latest one of yours is a double too.
I'll delete it, but keep an eye out next time you post.

I don't think I'd go with a 16 Charisma to start off. You can't cast 6th level spells until you're level 16, and by that time you have 4 more points to spend on your stats. I'd set Charisma to 14 or 15 and use the extra 2 or 4 points elsewhere. Like Strength for the extra Strength modifier and especially Intelligence for the extra modifier which gives you 4 more skill points to start off with.

Additionally, what kind of bow were you referring to? You can't be proficient in long or short bows and the longsword unless you take the Martial Weapon Proficiency feat. You could use the crossbow and longsword however...

Thx BTA, good inputs, I suppose I was thinking high CHA makes it harder for enemies to save vs the bards spell.
Sorry Tal, that wasn't actualy the kind of critism I was inviting. I am logging in from various cyber cafes and if I get in at all its a bit of a miracle. Thx for tidying up after me! :)

As a Bard I would go for high CHA and high DEX. I think that would be appropriate for a Bard. CHA for spells and entertain people, and DEX to do tricks and better movement (move silently etc)
And what are you going to do with 13 STR?Rather get higher DEX and equip yourself with a rapier and get weapon finesse as a feat.

Thank you for your constructive and useful comments. Part of the thinking behind the 13 STR is that in NWN you carry what you have with you, at least until you can afford a stronghold. I got so fed up with weak mages being told "you can't pick that up"

To my knowage under 3E ruls if you play as a elf you automaticly know how to use the longsword or rapier as well as long and short bows.(and there composit variety) At least thats what I think the PM meant.
