Since you guys are on top of shadowdancers, I've got one...aboleths. There is something in a tank in the Drow City called an "aboleth" (BG2). What the heck is it? And are there more?
PS It looks like a minature whale to me.

From the 3E Monster Manual:

The aboleth is a revolting fish-like amphibian found primarily in subterranean lakes and rivers. It despises all nonaquatic creatures ans attempts to destroy them on sight.

Aboleths are both cruel and highly intelligent, making them very dangerous predators. They know many ancient and terrible secrets, for they inherit their parents' knowledge at birth and assimilate the memories of all they consume.

Kinda reminds me of the Goa'uld (sp?) from the Stargate series. Minus the living environment.

It first showed up in the Monster Manual II...First edition...So you can find them there too. They are mean and nasty fishies
