Melissan, Sendai, Demogorgon, Jon Irencius, Firkraag, Shadow Patrick, etc. Any creature you think the coolest. I suppose this is an individual, but if you find the Troll coolest then feel free to tell it.
Aspects: graphics, dialogs (style, voice etc.), maybe the behaviour in battle, and anything you liked in the creature, anything which made it cool.
I didn't want to make a poll, because I might have left something out.

Please tell your coolest enemy(enemies) of Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal separately.

My favourite is Melissan in ToB. In SoA, probably Irenicus (mainly because of his voice only!), and Bone Fiends.

ToB: Ka'Rashur (sp?) the Pit Fiend-thingy in Watcher's Keep. (He looks like a bluish Slayer and speaks in rhyme)

SoA: Faldorn. It's probably the only fight in the series that's fought on roughly even ground.

EDIT: Ooh... I'm now a Zircon!

He's a possible enemy, but I usually don't side with Bodhi.

Guess....

Yes!

Methinks that Aran Livail is coool :D

Ok... my favorite in ToB is actually Yaga-Shura mostly because I think it's funny when he realizes he's not invincible and he runs away crying!

In SoA it's hard to say. I think my favorite is either Firkragg or the slavers. When I play through the game, they give me the best fights, and I just love killing them, (evil slaving bastards and Dirty son of a B**** dick head dragon ruining my reputation!).

SOA: no way it can be anyone other than Irenicus. Every time I play the game I listen to his dialogue because he's just such an evil b*****d.

Bodhi would be among my other fave villains, as well as Firkraag.

TOB: tougher choice. No enemy stands out as effectively as Irenicus did in in SOA and Melissan always bugs me because of the sheer naffness of her voicing. Abazigal is cool, same with Yaga-Shura, but I think I'd have to go for Demogorgon as topic villain.

In SoA it has to be Bohdi - got a thing for vamp chicks.

In ToB, I don't have one - they all suck big time.

Hrmm

SoA - Irenicus, he's just... I don't know, just that "evilness factor" And his amazing voice and diologues. Worth playing through to hear his villain voice again :D

ToB - Amy never seemed evil after Irenicus... Hmm, so I guess I'd have to go for Abazigal. For a start I love dragons, and he's just cool, along with most of the other main characters such as Sendai and Yaga-Shura.

I enjoyed the Dragon in Watcher's keep just for personality, but as far as battles go, my first time around with Sendai I was soooo confused, but ultimately that one was a lot of fun.

And I'll agree that killing Aran was fun, with a solo thief, invisibility and backstabing. heh, having all the people around you just start dying must be creepy. I should really do that again...

Balthazar was probably the most "good" out of all of your enemies. Even if you're lawful good yourself, he still wants to kill you to remove the Bhaalspawn taint. He's so dedicated to his cause that he even plans to commit ritual suicide after his quest is done. He seems like a bastard, sure, but a righteous bastard. He's my pick for TOB.

All these posts prove how good game BGII is. People who posted have chosen a wide range of villains! You can see many creatures here from Slavers through Aran Linvail to Balthazar.
Keep posting!

Yes, it's weird, but I think the Sahuagin are the coolest enemies. They look really frickin cool in infravision. All red and black... And of course the Drow look really cool.

SoA: The dwarf thief and the surly fighter (Corvale?) who stop you outside the CC. Just a pair of thugs who picked a fight with the wrong party.

ToB: The litch in Amkethran (sp?) who holds Mala's soul. The fact that a litch is scared of the PC shows that this undead actually has a brain.

I know BG isn't asked but it would simply have to be Sarevok.

SoA - Firkraag (the only dragon that acts and feels like a dragon) and Bodhi. Count me in on the "I like vampiric chicks" camp. Man I'd love a Bodhi romance... :)

ToB - Sendai (what can I say, I love the anime style "Impossible, how can he be so powerful!" stuff... :) ). And everyone's favorite... Demogorgon in watcher's keep.

Edit: Yes and an honorary mention to Balthazar. I got all the more respect for him after I learned a character with high enough wisdom can convince him to fight with you against Melissan.

I liked the shadow thieves with the red hoods, they fight like martial artists. swing sword, round kick, swing sword, round kick. they look realy cool.

SOA: Of course, Firkraag is cool. I mean, brings in some of Gorion's history and he was CHARNAME's foster father. So, Firkraag was after CHARNAME because she/he was raised by Gorion.

I did not like Irencus and Bodhi... Rather pathetic self centered twits in my opinion.

TOB: Sendai. What can I say? I like Drow Chicks.

SoA: I'd probably say... the shadow dragon in Umar Hills quest. He was the first dragon I ever saw in BG2 and he made me say "Wow"

ToB: Definitley Sendai. Drow are awesome

The Drow in general, they are just so evil. You don't see that in IWD2 when you encounter the Drow, but in BG2 you can definitly see ust how bad they are.

Well for SoA, it can only be Jonny for me. I mean, his voice and spell-effects are great and the dialogue is some of the best in the whole game. "Silence dog, you have no purpose but to die by my hand." Aaah... Happy memories. Melissan somehow just never even got near to him in evilness. I guess she doesn't get time enough to have her character as fully developped as Jon.
So in ToB I'd have to go with Abizagal. Dragons are awesome, and this is one pretty awesome dragon, :D

SoA: Hmmm... Toughy. At the risk of being predictable, probably Irenicus. His voiceset is great. Mr Warner earned his corn on that one.

ToB: Kiser Jhaeri - I just thought he was cool :p "Interlopers in my abode? Perhaps you have mistaken this edifice for an establishment of commerce. I assure you, you are mistaken." Gotta love it

I think Beholders are the coolest looking, as well as the Bone Golems. I love summoning them up in IWD :)

Firkraag is the best in SoA I think, since he's actually got a bit of development for a non-core villian. And Neb, since I really enjoyed the chance to wack him after meeting him in BG.

ToB vote goes to the souleating Lich...a lich on the raw end of a business deal, who would have thought?

:heh: Dragons, of course. He's one big, flamethrowing son-of-a-female-dog. :p

For SoA, it's definitely Irenicus for all the reasons stated above.

For ToB, it's a toss-up between Sendai and Balthazar. Sendai's battle was a bit of a bugger for me at first so I have to respect that.

n TOB that small party of small baahl spawns crack me up! IIRC they were composed of bunies, gophers and other small fries and run when you hurt them. GREAT! :D

In SoA I have to say I really liked the Gnome illusionist in the circustent. The power to create his own private world in a small circustent, fall after a short battle and take the secret of the source of that power with him in the grave. Why o why isn't there the speak with dead spell in BG2???

ToB - Abazigal - his portrait is just so cool.

SoA - Irenicus - and so much has already been said, there's nothing to add.

SoA - You know, I *as* going to post someone else, but although I thought the actor who did Jonny sounded an awful lot like David Warner, I figured they'd just gotten lucky. Now, I know the truth... he's such a cool villain type (ever since at least Evil in Time Bandits).

ToB - I have a soft spot for Gromnir; poor guy makes me think of the actors who get their best bits dropped on the cutting room floor. I'm quite fond of the Amkethran lich too. Like someone else posted - he's smart, he's afraid of the PC.

Q to Foradasthar regarding Balthazar... huh? Is this some mod where he can help against Amy? I'm guessing that, anyhow.

For SoA there are many, many choices... First of all: I love dragons! It's something like a hobby to me. Firkraag would be my favorite, for the same reasons Foradasthar mentioned. Beside that, nothing can look so cool as a dragon does! Other than dragons... Well, Joneleth is of course another favorite of mine. Voice, unique look, great background (I love elven sorcerers, too) and all that makes Irenicus one of the coolest thing in Baldur's Gate 2.
For ToB... Well, since no one mentioned him... Cespenar is the coolest for me! That imp cannot be real and is way too cool for words. No further explanations.
I know that Cespenar is not a villain, but in ToB I don't have so much choices like in SoA. And since Cespenar was Bhaal's buttler...Evil enough for me to be mentioned in my post. :)

Irenicus for the voice, the slaver ship for the fight, beholders for the image.

For ToB, Either Demogorgon or Sendai - nice long battles where my group fired nearly every spell and lost gallons of blood (DG was much harder, I killed everyone just in time to save Viconia's last 7 of HP. She then had to raise the rest of the party.)
And I liked Yaga-Shura as well, because it took really long... (and those dozens of corpses!)

SoA: Guarded compound, taken just after recruiting the party. Wow!

Foradasthar
Tue, 2nd Mar '04, 5:16pm
Oh yes. I have to give an honourary mention to the battle against Yaga-Shura as well. There's some legendary feeling to actually taking on an army, and carving your way through tons of flesh and blood to get to him. I'd like more such scenes, and better made at that.

I liked taking on Yaga-Shura because I was strong enough to just keep on taking on the waves of baddies without going forward.(it did make me feel kind of foolish when I first took him on because I just kept on hitting him without ralizing I couldn't kill him)

I simply hate that Jarlaxle for his insolence. And enter the rest of the Bregan De'arthe.

Foradasthar
Wed, 3rd Mar '04, 3:44pm
Well yes, although I liked Jarlaxle and his gang (Bregan Da'erthe, btw ;) ) in Salvatore's novels, he's a bit on the cocky side in BG2. As much as to get himself killed if Charname made it to godhood, and was of evil alignment. Jarlaxle is supposed to be smart, and if we cling to minor details, I'd say he was smart enough to stay out of the way of Charname, instead of awakening the interest of powers too much for him.

The most annoying thing though is Elhan. Dragonlance tought me to hate elves for their superior and egoistic attitude. While I still like that race best for the magical and aesthetic reasons, I'm easily provoked by characters such as Elhan. And I'm actually still playing with the thought of actually making a mod that allowed you to kill Elhan for his insolence, slaughter that pathetic "we are a legion, rest assured" of his... so that the elves would finally understand they were in no position at all to start threatening you, and thus help you advance in your plot.

Problem is, I'd have to start from scratch basically (I've made a few minor mod-assistances and scripts to a few other games but nothing to BG yet). And doing all that studying just to make Elhan pay, would be too much trouble. So I'd have to make a mod that applied that same solution to other suchlike situations in the game as well. And I'm not quite as dedicated as that.

Abazigal and Balthazar ruled completely. Such divine arrogance and such fierce dedication. Balthazar was no villain, however... His battle was FRIGGIN DIFFICULT.

Solaufein was awesome as well, though you can't forget Phaere being betrayed and slaughtered as you WATCH after having slept with her... Priceless...
