On a fresh full install of BGII w/ ToB, my icon for Composite Long Bows is screwed up.

They look like regular Longbows, and I don't know how to fix this.

All I've installed (after the game, in this order) is the Patch, G3 Fixpack Beta, and G3 Tweaks.

I know it's something small, but this is driving me mad. I can't even bring myself to finish Irenicus' Dungeon!

I don't know those G3 mods, but I find it possible that they're responsible for the bug.
You say "my icon for Composite Long Bows" -- for which composite long bow exactly? Normal, or +1, or other? Or all? Furthermore, how is it screwed up? Icon of something else?

What kind of modding skills do you have? I mean, do you know how to use IEEP or DLTCEP or NI to open an item? If not, I can make a quick fix for you if you want (provided I still will be online).

The Composite Longbows look like a regular Longbows. I'm talking about the ones I collect in Irenicus' initial dungeon.

It's got to be one of the G3 mods. I'm just going to do it the old fashioned way I was happy with.

Ah, so the unenchanted Composite Longbows I guess. (Unlike BG1, I played BG2 long ago.)

I'm just going to do it the old fashioned way I was happy with.Do you mean you will simply uninstall the mods, or do you still need help?

Those are the correct icons for those bows, they've just been wrong for so long that no one pays them any mind any more. :) bow01 (composite longbow) and bow03 (generic longbow) have their graphics swapped; the Fixpack assigns them the correct icons.

REally?

Camdawg, does this G3 thingy that switched them back change any magical versions also?

Baronius, I think I'm good.

Well, composite bows are made of more materials (usually three). This fact determines its shape too. If you compare the pictures, you will see that CamDawg is right.
However, the force of habit is present, Cam. :) For many players, it's not easy to get used to the changes. (I certainly support this fix regardless.)

No, I understand completely--devSin was the one who spotted and reported it and I was just as surprised. Bows were especially egregious about using the wrong attack icons. I believe this is a complete list of graphical changes for bows:

All generic composite longbow and generic longbow graphics were swapped. Short Bow +1 was terrible. It was using the generic longbow icon for its inventory and attack, and the composite longbow for its inventory graphic. Its actual graphics were only beng mistakenly used by other bows. Ripper +2 was using the Composite Longbow +1 icon for its attack icon Strong Arm +2 was using the Composite Longbow +1 icon for its attack icon Elven Court Bow +3 was using the Longbow +1 icon for its attack icon Tuigan Bow +1 was using the Shortbow +1 icon for its attack icon Composite Longbow +2 was using the Composite Longbow +1 icon for its attack icon Longbow +2 was using the Longbow +1 icon for its attack icon Shortbow +2 was using the Shortbow +1 icon for its attack icon Taralash +4 and +5 were using the Mana Bow +4 icon for their attack icons The Bow of Arvoreen +2 was using the generic shortbow icon for its attack icon
edit: It occurs to me I should probably clarify some terminology. The 'inventory icon' is the graphic that's used on the screen with your paperdoll, where you move items around your inventory. The 'inventory graphic' is the nice B&W sketch that is displayed with the item description on a parchment background; only the Short Bow +1 had this wrong. The 'attack icon' is the icon used in the game screen to actually select the weapon.

Something to add to the readme, perhaps. If it isn't already there, that is.

It is, but it's under the broad umbrella of 'Items With Incorrect Icons' and the docs aren't as specific as my post above--mainly because it takes a lot of time. The docs took me a solid week of nonstop work as it was and I couldn't muster the will to do more. :) 'course, now that they're already halfway typed up...

Does the mod screw with familiars too?

If by 'screw' you mean fix, then yes.
