Just who are those guys in the robes at the end of BG2? its been bothering me a long time.

Theres a good chance the movie i mean only turns up in the expansion. If so, sorry.

They're the Five from ToB. Long story, but it's been discussed here before, so run a few searches. (The topics are probably in the ToB forum.)

And it's impossible to fully answer this question without providing a load of ToB spoilers, so I'm moving this to the ToB forum too if someone wants to explain it at length.

I don't think they're the five -- one is clearly too small. I think they are the monkey and his flunkies.

It's easier to think of them as "the product of the producer saying 'We need some sort of foreboding the-story-will-continue FMV sequence here. Think of some crap that's vague enough and send it to the 3D team'" than as an actual story element.

Another problem- there's seven of them.

Answer that one, wiseguys.

They are supposed to be the ToB Bhaalspawn, likely submitted to the artists long before the "plot"--though I hate to use that term for ToB--was firmed up.

Bioware has given the official explanation that they ARE the five. The cinematic was developed well before the details of the five were ever flushed out. That should also be apparent from the previously mentioned threads.

In other words, jcompton was right on the money. lol!

Perhaps in the five's neutral meeting place, everyone is polymorphed into a cloaked, male, medium sized humanoid...whether they be a blue dragon, a fire giant, or even a female drow.

With all the Bhaalspawn out there, don't you think another group of them would get together with ambitions similar to the five? These seven chaps might have made a powerful force to be reckoned with, but after the final speaker finished and the bard had stopped recording, one of them started snickering at the whole idea, and soon the entire room erupted in laughter. Their plans forgotten amid the table pounding and chants for ale and wenches!
