View Full Version : Fighter/Mage/Thief and High Level Abilities
Dave Q Stone Wed, 16th Feb '05, 11:13am Hello Everyone,
i have serious problem with my solo FMT. I am lvl 20 mage and i still didnt get the option to choose mage high level ability. I can only choose from warrior and thief pool.
Whats wrong ?
Minh So Wed, 16th Feb '05, 11:28am You can't reach lv17 mage with 8mil exp cap, and you should be able to pick mage's HLAs right after 3mil exp anyway(about lv10 - lv12 mage or so).
So this is definitely a bug cause by some of the mods, check it :)
Dave Q Stone Wed, 16th Feb '05, 1:15pm Its true i used the exp cap removal and that i get the first warriors and thieves high lvl abl. very early.
I guess i have to play entire ToB without mages high lvl abl. Dammed
The Shaman Wed, 16th Feb '05, 2:35pm Weird, I remember that with Jaheira I got 2 HLA's at 3 mil. exp - 1 for druid and 1 for fighter.
Dave Q Stone Wed, 16th Feb '05, 2:54pm It seems there is no problem with 2 proffesions multiclasses. Only with 3 proffesions in one.
I had never such problem with thief/mage , fighter/mage, fighter/druid.
Only now with FMT.
I dont want to use shadowmaster to gain these abilities , but do i have another option ?
Kulyok Wed, 16th Feb '05, 2:56pm As you can't cast 9 level spells as FMT (it was meant in the original game that experience cap is 8000000), the mage HLAs are disabled.
However, you can install Baldurdash patch:
http://baldurdash.org/ToB/Fixes/TOBfixes.html
This way you'll get extra 6,7,8 spells.
Dave Q Stone Wed, 16th Feb '05, 3:53pm thx Kulyok , is there a patch that can enable mages HLA ?
It is possible in Shadowmaster ?
Kulyok Wed, 16th Feb '05, 4:05pm Try going here:
http://www.final-exodus.net/refinements/
If Maestro didn't do it, nobody did :)
Dave Q Stone Wed, 16th Feb '05, 4:11pm yes of cource , ill use the patch u described and then when u make lvl up i ll take another whirlwind attack and in Shadowmaster i will remove this attack to add myself lvl 10 spell. I hope this is not cheating , i dislike cheating.
This may solve my problem
Earl Grey Wed, 16th Feb '05, 4:41pm ... I hope this is not cheating , i dislike cheating...You remove the xp cap and then you say you don't like cheating? :shake:
Eric Xanthus Wed, 16th Feb '05, 5:15pm Apparently it's only cheating if it makes you feel bad. ;)
Dave Q Stone Thu, 17th Feb '05, 8:18am U think removing the cap is cheating ? I really dont think so. Would u play from underdark till the end of ToB with any progress in levels. I think i've just remove the limit.
btw: why is in bg a exp cap ?
The Magpie Thu, 17th Feb '05, 10:47am The XP cap is just there to keep you from getting too powerful, so you can't just dominate the endgame. I do think, though, that it is an unnecessary bias against solo characters; there only being one of you is tough enough, especially without even being able to take full advantage of all the XP's that come your way.
Stu Thu, 17th Feb '05, 10:54am I suppose a combined party xp cap would have hit the mark.
The Magpie Thu, 17th Feb '05, 11:00am Maybe... But you could say that was a bias against parties! I suppose that, as it stands, you can at least claim the extra kudos of soloing is partly down to the XP cap. It certainly makes SoA easier having the ToB cap when you upgrade.
I think a flat XP cap for everyone is unlikely to be the optimal "fairest" system for all; I guess BioWare just wanted people to party, and designed the game with that in mind. The fact that people can solo it, too, is just a tribute to the game itself.
Dave Q Stone Thu, 17th Feb '05, 4:13pm I admit that bg is a party game , i finished bg2 including tob twice (good party and evil party) and during game i start to thinking how it could be to play solo.
Maybe BioWare just didnt count with option that peoples will be playing it solo. But that is only a speculation.
