 What? You can't become Vampire in Baldur's Gate, sole exception might be the abduction of your lover by Bodih, but that doesn't give you the opportunity to play the vampirised char anyway.

I don't see vampires on the list but other undead can be found in thetruth's thread (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/10/5035.html) about halfway down.

I suppose that's not much of a help.

I've already read that

I don't see vampires on the list This is indeed very strange.I don't know why they are not mentioned in that list.
I don't remember exactly the level for the vampires, since I have started turning undeads after level 30 in my game, but probably after level 16 you will be able to turn them.
Maybe a bit earlier too.You can try it.

The only thing I am sure about is that Bodhi cannot be turned :D

If I remember right it's 16 for a normal vampire, 18 for a vampire cleric and 20 for a vampire mage to turn them

^ - I concur with DS...I start turning undead about the time I get Skeleton Knights so..16 sounds about right.

@Gastong: Is it a multiclass? Mage/Cleric is my favourite class at the moment, right up there with Fighter/Mage/Cleric.

Are we talking about killing or getting ally, or just making them run?
If it's just about running, my 10/11 mage/cleric could turn them. Can't just remember whether they were fledlings or the real deal...

Anomen was chunkying vamps at level 23, iirc. Fledglings and regular ones.

There are 7 standard types of vampires in the game:
- level 8: fledgeling
- level 9: mature
- level 10: old
- level 11: very old ?
- level 12: ancient
- level 13: eminence ?
- level 14: patriarch (resp. matriarch )

And there are 'named' vampires. Most of them have regular levels. Lassal for instance is level 8.
Some of them are much stronger like Bodhi or Phlydian (ToB) who are level 25.

Furthermore there are vampiric mists which are level 5 and the vampiric mind flayers (ToB) which are level 8.

Did I forget some ?

A cleric or paladin can turn vampires when his 'turn undead level' is at least 2 higher than the level of the vampire.
Therefore a level 10 cleric or a level 12 paladin will turn a fledgling vampire.

A a good or neutral aligned cleric or paladin will even kill the vampire when his 'turn undead level' is at least 7 higher than the level of the vampire.
Therefore a good or neutral aligned level 21 cleric or a level 23 paladin will kill a patriarch vampire.
(Since I only play good or neutral aligned parties I didn't check whether it is the same level for evil clerics to gain control of the vampire.)

This seems to be hardcoded in the game engine.
It should be independent of the difficulty setting. (But I only checked it with 'hard'.)

I gained this information by experiment using NearInfnity to get the vampire data and the CLUAConsole for trial and error. ;)

What are the vampires that are called "vampires" like the ones you meet at night?

With the exception of fledgeling vampires no hint of the vampire level is displayed in the game.
Unfortunately even the XP's gained by killing them are only a rough indicator.
You need to look into the code with NearInfinity.

Can you turn unmodded Bodhi? At what level? Bodhi cannot be turned only for one reason:
Before she dies, she must make her speech. And this makes her immune to instant death.
