What's up with this boy? "Detect Evil" and "Detect Alignment" show him to be evil, but if you kill him, he's got a Robe of the Good Archmage on.

You can't ask him about this odd little discrepancy. *scratches head* I know he's not the traitor, but is he good or evil?

Erm ... no idea. Perhaps he was just carrying it around?

Maybe he was just feeling evil when some stupid git was asking him all sorts of questions and casting Know Alignment all over and distracting him from defending the city... ;)

Heh. Probably the game designers did that so you couldn't just solve the kidnap plot with a single casting of a 1st-level spell, but still; it's kinda weird for this supposedly good mage to turn up evil to scries. He could at least have been immune to the spell or something if they wanted to leave that doubt in our minds...

Hm. Weird. Maybe it was a curse/spell by this merchant whatshisname ?

tjekanefir, it's much more likely someone simply forgot to set his alignment to good from the template they used to create him. There are hundreds of NPCs in the game & expansion, some mistakes are bound to slip through. Especially since very few people ever bother with the alignment spells. It's pretty easy to figure out who's evil and who's not in 99% of cases. Just look for the read circle beneath. :D

Now it can be revealed. Since I am Errard (= Erran) I can confirm that I am good.
There were (at least) 3 of us actively posting suggestions on the BI boards which got taken up, Cespenar, Gromnir and yours truly. Suggestions of mine which got included include: Background of a major war, a location where enemies continualy respawn until a time delay, SPOILER alternative endings where you can either be a god or return to Candlekeep as a mortal.

Actually, I'd been casting it on Melissan, suspicious wench that I am (she registers "good," if you're curious), and I noticed that some guy named "Errard" on the map was evil. So when Kiser told me the traitor was Errard, I was actually somewhat inclined to believe him, but upon confronting Errard he convinced me otherwise.

I guess the moral of this story is to take first-level divination spells with a big ol' grain of salt.

Erran, well, Cespenar and Gromnir are evil, so maybe that's why Errard is, then, too. *wink*

well, perhaps he's a bhaalspawn too, so his nature is evil :p
