Ive recently returned to BG2 as part of a complete series run through and have discovered that the game now has problems with fuzzy, distorted sound and jerkiness and slowdown, especially when lots of spell effects are going on. I suspect the blame lies with Service Pack 2, which I was recently required to install when I connected to my University's network. Anyone have similar problems, or ideas as to how to fix this as it is already at annoying levels and I havent even got to any of the magic heavy areas yet

I have SP2, and don't have any problems. Of couse, I installed BG2 after SP2; if you did it the other way around, that might be your problem (or not - I really have no idea).

Hmmm, well you see I dont know much about the way such software works, but from what little I have garnered I think SP2 changes the way programmes work, restricting unwanted intrusions but slowing everything down in the process. Now, my PC is pretty elderly, but it's well in excess of what is needed to play BG2 normally:
Celeron 1.4
256 SDRAM
Onboard Graphics
I dont know how much of these resources XP with SP2 would drain, but I guess it could get to the point where it would interfere with a hectic BG2 mage battle. Any other thoughts?
