I'm talking from a role-playing standpoint, as in what the kit is supposed to represent, but his abilities totally conflict with that. This has nothing to do with how powerful the kit is.

1) Beastmaster - He can't use metal weapons, but he can use metal armour? Besides, what does that have to do with anything? And if animals are his buddies, why is he allowed to wear leather armour?

2) Inquisitor - This name doesn't really make sense to me because inquisitors are supposed to be like military cops, right? What does that have to do with hunting evil wizards?

3) Jester - ok, ok, ok. Why is there a Jester running around the realms trying to either destroy or save (or retain the balance of) the world?

There. Now I've got to figure out someway to get out of this dark mood!

I pretty much liked the kits in Baldur's Gate 2, although I found myself playing a transmuter wizard all the time, without picking one of the newly added kits.

Anyways, if you don't like the kits of Baldur's Gate 2 and would like something different, I have made a small kitpack containing 7 kits for fighters, rangers and paladins, converted from prestige classes found in D&D books to kits. You can find it Here (http://forums.blackwyrmlair.net/index.php?showforum=17)

Inquisitors are supposed to ferret out heretics, they have nothing to do with the military. However I would figure an Inquisitor to be anti-priests/clerics rather than wizards/sorcerers.

A Jester is simply another type of bard. Another term for a Jester is a 'Fool' and not of the stupid variety. A bard would sing songs to entertain whereas a jester will perform comedy acts, mosly of the insulting kind. Jesters are also known for acting like blabbering idiots yet there is almost always a method to their madness.

The let down for the Jester (and Skald) is the lack of improved song that improves their current song. When you get the HLAs all bards can use the same enhanced bard song, so Skalds get no benefit and the Jesters either keep the same or get the skalds song.
