You probably get a lot of questions like this, but I've checked the Baldur's Gate site many times and can't figure out whats wrong.
When I start my game, before the movies play, the screen turns black and remains black indefinitely. I recieve no warnings either, just a black screen and the only way to do anything is to reboot the computer. Reinstalling doesn't work either.
If any of you have experienced this problem and know a solution I would be extremely grateful.

Hm, if there's no answer ,this problem is either solved or your problem is caused by your computer.
a-)Download patches, if the game still not works then download the Sorcerer's Place patch in Baldur's Gater II section
b-)Get a new computer :D
Seriously this is maybe a problem of your video card, i don't know much about hardware, though you can find someone to help you.
Does your computer matches sytem requirements (dah, stupid me, it probably does, BG2 is an old game, it even works at my PC)

System Requirements:
Pentium 200, 32 Megs of RAM, 2 meg video card. For 3D, you need any 2 meg 3D card that supports OpenGL.

'Hmph....works on my PC, don't need the opengl ****....I don't have it either.....

It worked not-too-bad on my 233MMX, 32RAM.

Tell me you didn't press Spacebar... Please tell me that... That would be funny.
