i hope this isnt obsolete, but i have checked for previous topics on this and havent found any.

well, i'd like to play bg2 with a higher resolution than 800x600, but when i try to set such a resolution, the graphics test fails (massive flickering). same problem in game, i cant see a thing due to the flickering.

im using a radeon x1800xt 512mb on a 17" tft with omega 3.8.291, so i guess it wont be a hardware-related problem, right?
if there's any way to get rid of this problem i'd be happy to hear it.

I had a radeon 9600XT, could never play it in 1024x768 with 3D acceleration enabled. I either had to play in 1024 x 768 no acceleration, or 800 x600 acceleration. I've never seen anything that fixes this, old drivers might, but with your card that might not be an option.

hm. ive experimented some, it seems to be related to anti-aliasing... if i leave it at application preference, it flickers, if i force aa, something even weirder happens: all static parts of a picture can be seen for a fracture of a second and then disappear...

ive thought about changing my opengl driver, that might help, but maybe i should just play without acceleration...

There's no big difference with acceleration on/off. I always play without for above mentioned reason.

I think it tends to slow down a bit more when you are fighting big creatures and battles which gets irritating. I had an Athlon Xp 2400+ with 1 GB RAM, so not short of horsepower, but I found using acceleration gave performance better than just the lower resolution could explain. You get used to being able to see slightly less.

hm, the thing i find annoying about playing without acceleration are the messed up halos on every light -.-

but heh, since it seems as if there's no solution to this problem, ill jst bite the bullet.

Try switching off "Triple Buffering" option in your video driver's setup.

hehe mine is even weirder, at one point i can play at 1024x768, but then i uninstalled BGII for some reason, then reinstalled it and can't play at 1024x768 anymore, because although it doesn't flicker, my screen ended up upside down o.O
