A question for all those who have played a barbarian a fair way. I am currently in Brynnlaw and I have the Darkmail Armour AC 2. I am considering getting the Jester's Chain from the Asylum. Is it worth it?

Ultimately would be good to have Crimson Chain +5 or even the Bladesinger upgraded. Grandmaster +6 armour or the Armour of thorns would be nice, but they come up so late. Finally would like to get the white dragon scale armour. But is the Jester's chain worth getting?

Yes, the Jester's chain is worth getting.

As your barbarian moves at +2 you don't need those boots of speed that much. Plus there are other boots available in the game

Get the shadow dragon armor.
It's the best armor the barbarian can wear in SoA.
The +2 movement rate is hardly comparable to boots of speed,
so if you want speed get them instead.

Jester's chain can be a nice temporary armor yes, but in the underdark there are already armors like drow chain+5 so you don't really need it.

yeah but underdark doesnt last that long does it ;)

Drow equipment and armor will disintegrate when you leave the Underdark; however while you're in the Underdark, even up the odds a bit by using their equipment. Just don't totally ditch your other stuff.

Like I said, it's a good temporary armor.
When finishing the underdark go straight to the umar hills to kick some big black dragon booty! :spin:

That is a shadow dragon. And yes it is big difference between those two.

Shadow dragon is rather easy to beat(without cheese tactics) so any party can beat him already in chapter 2. I dont know about solo, Keneth>your experience soloing him ;)

It was easy to beat even with a totemic druid and it is a shadow dragon. Those who think otherwise have no respect for dragons. But this is way off topic so lets stick to it shall we.

Shadow Dragon Leather: AC 1 +50% resistance to acid.

Crimson Chain: AC 0.

Sure, the resistance to acid is nice, but acid attacks are very rare. I fail to see why people are recomming the shadow dragon leather over the crimson chain. The Asylferund Elven Chain or the White Dragon Chain are the best armors in the game for barbs, but you won't get those until you're into ToB.

You meet Black dragon in elven city. They say Irenicus rode him to get there. IIRC you have to get some item from him - pay or kill maybe pickpocket a dragon :D
Anyway there are not two black dragons in the game so that one in Umar hills IS Shadow Dragon :)

Hmm, I never thought about crimson chain.
It always seemd more like an armor for bards.
Anyways, shadow armor looks way better ;)

IIRC bard cant cast spells while wearing Crimson Chain :( . So i really dont use it. It doesnt really matter how much AC i have with my Blade(Haer'dalis) i have 4 Stoneskins memorized and an AC of -2(not enought :) ) considering he is level 14 he has 7 blows prevented by each stoneskin. 7x4=28 blows + defensive spin= :D :D :D

That dragon is only a dragon but just because it is colored black it doesn't mean he is black. However he has most if not all of the abilities of the black dragon so he probably is one.

Black is an adjective of colour.
Maybe the class is shadow dragon but it's still a black dragon.

Shadow Dragons aren't even from the same Plane of Existance!! They are from the Plane of Shadows, appropriately enough. Hence the fact that the Shadow Lord has a pet Shadow Dragon and not a Black dragon .

What about the Human Flesh Armour for the thouse evil barbarians? Do you consider that one as a choice?

I like the red dragon armor...

The Crimson Chain +5 is the best armor for barbarians in SoA.
And that dragon in hell is labeled "Dragon".
