Ok I'm creating a custom Katana for evil characters and trying to find the right name is difficult.
A little information on some of its powers, it has a chance on the killing blow to steal some of the opponent's soul. Resulting in some kind of stat or thaco increase. So with this in mind I've been trying to think of a name and looking at the weapon names in TOB.
Names I have thought about using,
Devils Own
Green Destiny
Devil's Advocate
Hand of Bhaal
Soulblade
Deadly Sin
Soulforge (as I love Dragonlance)

Any other good names you can think of?
Do you like any of these?
Which TOB weapon names do you like?

How high does your lore need to be to identify that sword, or your INT to even read or even pronounce it?

Deathmaster
Sun, 3rd Feb '02, 11:01pm
your lore would have to be about a million.

i will say it slowly for all the rejects out there.

Ultra kool mega giant demon vampire zuper slaying chaotic genocide blade

i hope that makes much sense, but to really to confuse you, here it is backwards.

Edalbediconegcitoahcgniyalsrepuzeripmavnomedtnaiga gemlookartlu.

Now how do you pronounce that?

Soulblade, eh? An old (but wicked) game. "The gruelling battle ended with the victory of ... Cervantes. (Heavy breathing) Offer your spirit...." Heh...

But I digress ... How about giving it some sort of background and attaching it to a character? Then it could have a name like "Kujiro's Spirit Flayer" or whatever, obviously changing the name according to what you call the weapon's previous owner/creator/victim etc.

Hurtzdurtz

That just has a real nice sound to it. I mean, if you're not German, and you say it, you wonder, 'Am I pronouncing this right or what?'. Create a background, and perhaps a character to go with it, that way you'll have an awesome all round weapon. Some of those weapons that you buy from the Bonus Merchants have just an exeedingly LAME backing. In ToB, there is also a serious lack of storyline. Top marks to Lilacor to have a full one!

Are there any famous swords in the FR?
If so which are worth recreating?

I was thinking "Souldrinker" or "Soulsucker" would be a rellly cool name for it.

Hertzdurst (spelled correctly Herzdurst) would mean Heartthirst translated straight although it wont make sense in german right away ;)

If you want to go that line what about 'Herzensbrecher'?

It would usually mean something like breaker of hearts and most would picture a guy leaving lots of crying women behind but if you think of a weapon....

Die Hand Die Vertlezt.

How about something in Latin? Can't think of anything at the moment. But there must be some famous swords in Greek or Roman mythology. If i could just remember some.
I hope someone else knows more Latin.
Euh...
Heh, what about ferrum Sicari, meaning sword of the stealth assasin. Or something like that.

Israfel

Well, I don't recommend Latin, it's not very suited for fantasy. All military words make you think about armies, not heroes. I once went through a period of insanity and tried to create a text-CRPG in Latin. It really sucked - no decent name.

Greek would be far better, also because it attaches words like German. I suggest "Psykeros" (ie "soul-love", which makes sense if you remember that the Greek considered love nothing more than desire)

I want to know with what tool you made the katana. About the name - try the "Nojica za Nokti". In my language (bulgarian) the translate is very fun and it sounds good.
