For some reason equipping boots of speed doesn't work :/.

I had a pair with me from BGI(tutu), and used the pause trick to keep those and my helm of balduran (The rest of my items would not appear).

However, the boost don't increase my movement rate at all! The icon shows as it should, but I move none the faster. I've tried CLUA in a new pair, but that didn't help. Both pots of speed and haste scrolls functions normally.

I have a few mods installed, which might be the reason as to why boots of speed won't work as they should.

Anyone know what could have caused this?

Do you have Ring of Free Action or any other item/spell that gives you Free Movement? These protect you from hold/web/slow effects BUT at the cost of nullfying benefits of Boots of Speed or any haste effect (whether spell/scroll/potion) Check out for these items this is the only thing that comes to my mind for now. If you remove them, you will be normally hasted. There was a trick to get the benefits of both, you should equip those in certain order or re-equip in a certain fashion? Ask other guys but it may be considered cheating or the very least 'cheesy'.

Nope, I'm wearing no such things. I know about the ring of free-action trick ;)
It simply doesn't alter my movement rate wearing boots of speed...

Hmmm...I seem to recall dealing with something similar. When you used the CLUAConsole did you use 'boot01'. In ShadowKeep there are 4 different pairs of Boots of Speed...and one or more of them might not work right.

If that doesn't work, you could always use SK to modify your movement rate...I don't remember if lowering or raising it makes you walk faster. Sorry. :rolling:

Well, I found out what the problem was. A bug had apparently occurred during the BG1 (tutu) -> BG2 transition of my char, because he was the only one who couldn't use the boots. Ended up creating a new likewise char and transferred items to him via multiplayer game. SKed the stats upgrade from the books in BG1, and SKed the better thieving stats he had, plus spells... Now everything works as it ought to do :)
Just had to SK those stats. Couldn't imgine living without: 19STR, 20DEX, 18CON, 4( :lol: )WIS, 20INT(BG1 mod gave me extra book :heh: ), and 21 Char (rod of terror chese :shake: )..

While wearing the boots of speed in BGII, you should have a "haste" icon over your portrait. The Boots of Speed also use the same opcode as haste, so if you're already hasted they won't do s*** to boost you more.

There are also some other items out there that boost your movement rate as well (which DOES work with haste). First thing I'd try is taking them off and putting them back on to renew the "While Equipped" thing.

I have to say in BG1 when I was playing through the only character that the boots of speed would not work on was the protaginist. It got annoying that every other party member would equiped the boots were able to move fast, expect my character.

Silver Knight, was the same for me too. Also in tutu. I guess that's a bug which accurs when using tutu. Funny though, that I could CLUA in a pair of BG2 boots and use them on my PC when playing tutu. However those same boots wouldn't work on my char in BG2 :p

I don't have any mods just yet. Only recently have I started to play the BG series again. And I have now decided on theme to follow. See my post about BG1 to ToB.
