Couldn't rightfully say so now, sorry.

Alright, no problem, I'll just wait. My game is over at my dad's house anyways. Plus, I can play other games for the time being.

But when you can say, please do post it, it would be most kind of you. :)

I've decided not to go for a subdivision of the store (e.g. a soa part and a tob part) as I don't think it's needed anyways... The item prices will restrict people from getting too many of the best prior to ToB or end-game anyways... Yeah, it's ****ed up having used time on sub-dividing only to dish it, but that's how it is :p

Also fixed some problems regarding auto-save upon teleporting to Tal's area...

Good news, folks... The next version will be out as soon as I get the last German translation files. Which means that a German version will be implemented too :)

This is great news Oli, didnt think you'd get a german translator :) Wish I could do more to help but it sounds like its pretty much ready. I was starting to think I'd missed the download link somewhere :p

Oh, this is only version 1.1, there's still a point 2 to make :p ...

Yeah, I guess people may have thought that I've digged meself down somewhere, as I haven't had that much time to write here, and even less to work on the pack. But I've tried to work as much as I could, an eventually, things turned out as initially planned :)

This is great news Oli, didnt think you'd get a german translatorActually, I had the German translater even before you joined the crew :p

If we DL 1.1, and you come out with 1.2 later, when we reinstall, do we need to make a whole new game?

Balle
Wed, 2nd Nov '05, 3:34pm
it is discussed previous in this thread and oli couldn't righfully say

olimikrig
Wed, 2nd Nov '05, 8:40pm
In the 1.1 you shouldn't have to re-install, as it only adds to things already in the pack (unless you want the german version, that is - only guessing, haven't been able to test a German version yet).

The 1.2 Should be the last (only minor fixes from thereon), and I expect for it to add tons of new things, so yes, you would have to re-install and make a new game.

NOTE: PLease note that when I say you HAVE to make a new game, I'm only guessing out of what seems to be the most logical to me. As Balle say, I stated in my last post that I couldn't rightfully say, which I still can't. What we talked about last, Saber, was a final version, which the next ain't (though final version concerning the items themselves ;) ), so I can't say whether you need to, or not need to, make a new game for that to work. However, I'm guessing that you'd be (hopefully not too) long finished with your last bg2 game, for it not be of importance anymore..

OKay, as you may or may not know, some items were omitted when Bioware send out the game.
Amongst others (if there's more) are these, which the UB (Unfinished Business) mod also provides:

Boots of the West Boots of Hastened Departure Shazzellim, Scimitar +1 Bala's Axe Taragarth, Bastard Sword +1 Wolfskin Bag Websack Wand Wraithform spell
Now, what I want to ask is whether you people think that I should add these through the BoM item pack, or that it's enough that UB have already added them to the game.. Furthermore, I would like to ask if anyone out there knows more omitted items, which it may be good to add to the game.

-Regards

One obvious omission I just realised... The Cloak of Balduran! Obviously, it's rather powerful now that MR doesn't block healing/buffing spells anymore, but it would be nice not to have to do that "quick pause" trick whenever you import a character from BG1...

It may be an useful addition, two item mods in one, but I am afraid it may break the originality of that great item pack of ours?

BTW I will download the mod ASAP, when will the next and final version be ready? I can wait a little more... :)

olimikrig

Need the very last german translation files... Otherwise, the English version simply just lies on my desktop, collecting dust :p

It may be an useful addition, two item mods in one, but I am afraid it may break the originality of that great item pack of ours? No, not two in one, but one in one... Those additional items will simply just be added to the merchant (quite easy, as they're already *in* the game). So it will just add an extra 5-xx items...

Saber
Fri, 11th Nov '05, 11:24pm
I don't think you should put them in, because the BoM pack is for items that people on the BoM created... it loses its uniqueness if you add those in. I think you should leave it to UB to add those in.

@Saber:
You know, someone could very well request items that look exactly like them instead. I say if it's what the members want, it's what they should get; but only by request, which is how I think olim's handling this.

I vote for Taragarth (for Holy_kensai if he wants it) and the Cloak of Balduran (fo' me :D ). Possibly Bala's Axe too, but don't do it just on my account.

Saber
Fri, 11th Nov '05, 11:59pm
Well, perhaps olim could make it optional? I.E. when you install, there can be an option saying: Would you like to install the 6 UB items, or something like that?

The Magpie
Sat, 12th Nov '05, 1:58am
Good point, Saber. That is one of the main advantages of WeiDU, after all. I reckon that the "optional component" solution looks like the best compromise, imo. Not that my opinions matter, other than that if I feel strongly enough I can pester oli by PM & e-mail 'til he cracks... ;)

Malovae
Sat, 12th Nov '05, 7:26pm
Yeah optional sounds great, UB is a must have mod for me, so that would mean i wouldnt want them added, but if i didnt use UB, I would like that these were added to the shop.

Felinoid
Sat, 12th Nov '05, 8:03pm
Only so long as olim doesn't have to code up an entire different store for them. Having two versions of the store and a decision branch in the installation would suffice, though you'd need them to have the same filename (to avoid the requirement for separate scripts and dialogues) which necessitates folders to hold them in. Not too much trouble so long as you do it right.

Well bear in mind that if people have UB and the same items are sold in BoM item pack, then people can end up getting two of the same item!

Two Cloak of Baldurans=Overkill IMHO!

You must find a way to prevent this, maybe BoM can check if UB is installed or not?

The Magpie
Sun, 13th Nov '05, 1:52pm
I don't know about going as far as barring the installation if UB is present - we could always rely on people not cheating and spoiling their game! ;)

:shake:

An update will be added tomorrow (or today, depending on your timezone, I guess). This will hold some various improvements/corrections and a fully operating German version...

Sorry for having kept this project on hold, but as my internet connection went down just about one week ago, and I haven't been online up until today, I really haven't been able to send an update :p .

Again I must appologize for the pack still not being out there. I found quite some bugs that I found it of essence to correct before I would kick out the next version.
I'm affraid it may take any time from a couple of days till the weekend before the promised new version can go out...

Finally the new version is ready and running.

It can be found here (http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/BoM_Item_pack.rar) (3.1MB).

Desciption
The Boards O' Magick (BoM) item pack is for and by SP users (and, of course, for the entire BG2 community!). What the BoM item pack introduces are two new unique characters, the Imp Bion and the merchant Taluntain. The original idea behind this pack was not only to give the BoM regulars the honor they're due by immortalizing them in this great game (well, more or less anyways), but also to offer a selection of somewhat overlooked items the chance to truly shine; we strive towards making the items as balanced as we can, mind you. Taluntain will be reachable through the Imp, Bion, whom you can find in Waukeen's Promenade in the SoA part of the game, and Amkethran in the ToB part.

NOTE: It is imperative that you have Throne of Bhaal installed before applying this mod! Throne of Bhaal holds some animations needed for this mod to run. You should also have applied the latest official patch.

New Stuff
- Added the store to ToB.
- Structured my files, thus solving some in-game and translation problems.
- Added about 30 new items.
- Major changes to how Tal is trigered.
- German translation made by Schaf!

Instructions
Download the .rar file to any destination you wish Open the .rar file double click on Setup-BoM.exe and follow the instructions from there on.
Remember to have a look at the Readmebom.txt (which will be to find in the folder you have installed the mod in) if you have any questions you wish to send. Make sure you send your question/addition to the right person

And remember that's its not about winning, but about being the most powerful... I mean it's about having fun, yes that's it...

On a side-note
If we have forgotten to give you credit in the "credits" section, we appologize for this, and ensure you that it wasn't intentional, and bits you to contact either me, Olimikrig, or The Magpie, and we'll make sure this mistake is corrected asap!

Hmm? What's the link for download? It says "here", but it's not hyperlink.

Sun, 4th Dec '05, 6:52pm
yeah, it's because for some reason the link still links to the old pack... So I've removed it as to avoid you people DL it only to see that it's still the same old...

P.s. It'll be updated soemtime doing the night/evening/morning (depending on your timezone :p ).

V. 1.3, and with that what's supposed to be the "last" version is now out!
From hereon any future version will probably not hold anything but bug fixes (though I may add some music and ambients to the area at some point).

Since first posted a lot of things has been changed, ditched, re-introduced, and changed once more. It's actually harder than one would think to "balance" things. However we have done that the best we could, and hope you, like we, thinks that this is a fairly balanced item pick, which still adds items worth your while.

I would definitely recommend that you download (http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG2&f=BG2/BoM_Item_pack.rar) the lates version! And there's a number of reasons as to why, amongst which the most important is that I registerred my prefix at BWL' IE Community Filename Prefix Reservations (http://www.blackwyrmlair.net/prefixes/). By doing this, amongst other things, some global conflicts was resolved (and any fuuture ones -hopefully- prevented)! Furthermore I've worked hard on resolving any bugs that has been reported while this mod was in development.

Here's a "full"(as full as it gets) list of all the changes since the first version:

V. 1.1
- Added the store to ToB.
- Structured my files, thus solving some in-game and translation problems.
- Added about 30 new items.
- Major changes to how Tal is trigered.
- German translation made by Schaf!

V. 1.2
- updated the readme.
- Arabwel's Cut-throat nerfed: Magic res. reduced to 10%, backstab modifier reduced to +1. This item was way too overpowered.
- Correct the desc of Laiwethel's Mageblade. It now correctly shows that: there's a 25% chance of dispel magic on hit. Furthermore it is now, as it's supposed to, usable by Sorcerers.
- Corrected the mage-kit specific staves, as they were flagged wrongly.
- Corrected Description on the Helm of Flaming. It can throw a Fireball onca a day, though this wasn't written in the desc.
- Added some custom spells to Tals casting cycle.

V. 1.3
- Overhauled Tals script; he is no longer such a cheese merchant (i.e. you can interrupt most of his spells, etc.), but still far from easy to defeat.
- changed all prefix' used (from variables to .cre 'names' ); some compatibility conflicts was solved by doing this.
- Minor changes to items.
- Removed the 25% chance of dispel magic on hit from Laiwethel's Mageblade. That was, imho, too much of the good.

When I say that Tal's combat script was overhauled, I mean that it was [b]overhauled! It was a total re-do, and if you've ever fought him, you'll notice when fighting him next (note, however, that by this I don't necessarily mean that you'll have an easier time).

So, if you want an as bug-free experience as you can possibly get (with this particular mod, I mean ;) ), you would want to DL and install the Boards O' Magick item pack v. 1.3 (http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG2&f=BG2/BoM_Item_pack.rar).

Thank you for downloading! I hope you'll have as much fun playing as we had creating this module.

-Olimikrig.

P.S. If we ever open up for new item additions (which is possible), you'll be sure to see a thread here in the ToB Forum :) .
