I have to rescue this chump from the second level of the Shadow Thieves' Guild building. I've entered the building through every entrance, cleared every room. I can't get to where I know the prisoner is. There is a locked door in the room behind the main entrance, but I can't unlock it. Going in by the side door allows me acces to the second level but not to the area the prisoner is in (I know where he is because I usually find him when I go in for Linvail.)

Did I forget to pick up a key somewhere? I've looked at FAQs but they've not helped.

I don't think I've encountered this problem before. If you've got the cheats enabled, you could ExploreArea() then Ctrl+J to where the prisoner is - that might work.

I'd like to try and solve the problem through regular means first, but in case that doesn't work: How do I enable the cheats?

I think you have to kill Booter the torturer for the key, but it's been so long since I tried it I'm not sure anymore. Try the room next to the prison.

You can't open the door at first IIRC, he speaks you trough it.

I though you had to kill Gaelan Bayle to get the key.

I only did this quest once, so bear with my horrible memory. I think the guy you rescue in on the second floor of the guild. Enter through the door where you need to go up a short set of stairs - this is outside in the Docks area, not in the guild itself! It should take you directly to the second floor. Kill everyone and talk to the rescuee.

To enable the cheats, go to the main BG2 folder on your hard drive and open the text file called baldur.ini then open it. Under the top line, type Debug Mode=1. It should look like this:
[Program Options]
Debug Mode=1

You have to write it exactly as it is, or it won't work.

To move to an area, press Ctrl+Space in game, then type:
CLUAConsole:ExploreArea()
This clears all of the black fog from the map, so you can see the room the guy to rescue is in.

To jump to somewhere on the map, put the cursor where you want to jump to, then press Ctrl+J.

I killed Gaelan Bayle, got the key and found out the prisoner inside the area Aran Linvail is in is not the one you need to rescue for bodhi.

Failed the mission, which means I lose out on EXP, but she gave me the mission to kill Linvail anyway. So I'm still good to go. Thanks all.
