View Full Version : Ease of Use mod romance fix
Strife Thu, 1st Jan '04, 1:25pm Hello.. I did a search on Ease of Use mod and I didn't find anything that answered my question, so I'm going to ask it here.
The romance fixes in Ease of Use are failing to install for me.. I have no idea why.
I do have the NPC Banter and NPC Flirtpack installed though, is that the problem?
icelus Thu, 1st Jan '04, 4:05pm I'm fairly certain those two mods have nothing to do with the error.
Can you post the error message from the DOS window here? Either that, or open up the file "SETUP-EASE.DEBUG" and copy it here, and we might be able to see where the problem lies.
Strife Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 1:23pm Okay here's what I think is the relevant text from the SETUP-EASE.DEBUG file:

Rastor Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 3:41pm Corrupt File?
The problem is that WeiDU can't read Anomen_1.bcs due to a corrupt file. Also, Aerie's romance patch apparently doesn't exist.
Try redownloading the mod.
Strife Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 4:34pm Nope, still doesn't work. Would providing a list of mods I've installed help to narrow down the problem?
If so, I believe I have the following:
1. Ascencion (WeiDU version)
2. NPC Banter Packs
3. Dungeon Be Gone
4. NPC Flirt Packs
5. Oversight
6. Unfinished Business
7. Weimer's Item Upgrade with Cespenar audio
8. Weimer's Ease of Use (part of it)
Of course, I've patched the game and installed the ToB Fixpack with the Game Text Update as well.
Xindell Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 5:02pm I've had this exact same problem before. I ended up having to completely reinstall the game. But once I did, it worked fine.
Strife Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 6:20pm Ah, okay.. I might just do that so that I'd have a cleaner install.
BTW.. Does the bottomless Bag of Holding fix in the mod extend to all other containers like gem bags, scroll cases and potion bags? Or is it just for the Bags of Holding?
Are there any other mods that can make all containers bottomless?
Incidentally, does anyone know what are the differences between the True Grandmastery that the mod installs, compared to the grandmastery originally in the game, along with the UnNerfed Thac0 and Spell Progression in the mod, as compared to what was originally in the game?

Rastor Fri, 2nd Jan '04, 10:31pm Ease of Use should probably be installed before those others, but they all are compatible.
There are no other mods that make containers bottomless. There's really no point in repeating someone else's work.
The changes to THAC0 and Grandmastery and Spell Progression will make everything resemble the way it was under AD&D and BG1 rules. It will make the game ludicrously easy at higher levels.
Strife Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 1:40am Okay, thank you very much Rastor.
I guess I shouldn't install that component then :)
Sarevok• Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 4:16am I tried all different combinations of installing them mods, but no end of bugs in the game, gave up on them ;z
Strife Sat, 3rd Jan '04, 6:28am Well I've tried a clean install and various sequences in which to install the mods.. Still doesn't work. I'm giving it up, can live without it after all.
