i only recently noticed this as i levelled up haerdalis - as i was about to give him a proficiency point in axes (he already has use any item ability) i noticed he had 2 stars in longswords!!!

now i know he starts with 2 stars in shortswords (which makes him a damned good fighter for a bard) but he cannot have 2 stars in longswords and i dont recall even attempting to put 2 proficiencies into his longswords slot

this only happened after i started ToB i think cos in SoA he only had 1 proficiency in longswords

nothing remarkable has happened in terms of character development - hes about level 29-30 about to do the 3rd level of watchers keep and simultaneously attacking the fire giants temple so nothing warrants this extra proficiency - and no, its not shadowkeeper cos i dont use it

so i guess its a bug, or haerdalis, being a tiefling and all has unknown ToB powers

Hmmm; I had that too. Its also interesting to note that if you summon Haer'Dalis after starting a new game straight into TOB he has two stars in long swords. He seemed to "develop" the extra proficiency point when I had him using long swords for an extended period of time in SOA. Perhaps, as you say, this another of Haer'Dalis' tiefling abilities (along with resistances vs nearly anything etc). Further proof of what a spanking good character he is. :D
