View Full Version : Mods suggestions?
olimikrig Thu, 8th Sep '05, 9:53pm Well, In the nearest future I'm going to take my tutu solo-char to BG:II, and thought that I might as well add in some mods :)
Now, I have actually never played any of the bigger quest mods like Shadows Over Soubar, and such. So is there in mod (or more) that you're particularly fond of, and that you think I need to experience? If so please do write them here (If the mod ain't listed here on SP, please provide me with an URL).
EDIT: No NPC mods, item packs, tweak packs, etc.. I've probably tried it out already ;) Soo only quest mods.

kuemper Thu, 8th Sep '05, 10:27pm If you don't mind dragging an NPC along for his/her quest, you might try Unfinished Business.
Baronius Thu, 8th Sep '05, 10:44pm Before you export the char and start BG2 (unless you already did so), I can recommend the new Grey Clan for Tutu, because you can play it instantly after you have installed it: its plot starts in the city of BG, and it gives 1-2.5 hours of gametime.

For BG2 mods (too), the Dragon's Hoard contains descriptions too: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/10/4044.html
There is a 'Players Said' section as well, with BG2 mods too, where players tell their experience about mods.
olimikrig Thu, 8th Sep '05, 10:50pm @ Baronius: Currently I'm on the wolfwere island, and has done naught but supquest in Baldur's Gate, so if you can play it without having to start a new game, then I'll go fer it :)
EDIT: have you created this mod?

@ Kuemper: I'll do that :) Looking forward to the Boo's missing quest (That alone would be more than enough reason to drag along Minsc  )
CamDawg Fri, 9th Sep '05, 3:26am I'll second the Unfinished Business endorsement, and add Quest Pack (http://www.pocketplane.net/quest/) and, if you don't mind some fourth wall breakage, the G3 Anniversary Mod (http://www.gibberlings3.net/g3a/).
Stu Fri, 9th Sep '05, 8:30am I played Shadows over Sauberer last game. It was alright but a few of the weapons are grossely overpowered and there were a few bugs - over all it is probably not worth the three hundred Mb download - unless you have broadband.
olimikrig Fri, 9th Sep '05, 8:35am 1mb baby ;) it's like a rolercoaster
Stu Fri, 9th Sep '05, 8:46am nice! you may like to try it once, but the weapons you get are really, grossly overpowered, I ended up restarting after I did the SOS bit and didn't go on to ToB at all. It just wasn't a challenge.
olimikrig Fri, 9th Sep '05, 9:07am Okay, what about the darkest day? Worth a shot?
Rastor Fri, 9th Sep '05, 10:26pm Okay, what about the darkest day? Worth a shot?I wouldn't.
Baronius Sat, 10th Sep '05, 8:03pm @ Baronius: Currently I'm on the wolfwere island, and has done naught but supquest in Baldur's Gate, so if you can play it without having to start a new game, then I'll go fer it :)
You just install it, go to Ramazith's Tower and then to the Hall of Wonders, and the fun begins!
It's really good that you will have the Werewolf Island finished as well when you start In Candlelight: this mod has tough battles. At least its BG1 edition, but I think that the BGTutu edition (the one you are planning to play) is also challenging.
EDIT: have you created this mod?Yeah, I have to admit that I advertised my creation shamelessly :o but I would have listed any other BGtutu mods as well which provide quests and can be started at any time, if I had known of any except mine :D
olimikrig Sat, 10th Sep '05, 8:14pm Yeah, I have to admit that I advertised my creation shamelessly Of course, so would I ;)
It had some hard battles (Especially the tatooed guy!) in stock for my solo F/M/T :D and I enjoyed it thouroughly :thumb:
Only thing I can put my dirty little fingers on, is that it might need some work on the dialogue (imho that is). The fact that you got voice sets is also a major plus. It adds a whole new perspective to a mod, if it got some decent acting going on :)
Baronius Sun, 11th Sep '05, 12:54am It had some hard battles (Especially the tatooed guy!) in stock for my solo F/M/T :D and I enjoyed it thouroughly :thumb: I am very glad to hear all this. :D Just a question: the other (main) battle with the Tattooed Guy, I hope his real name has appeared there instead of 'Tattooed Man', right? I ask this because another player had problems with that, so I would like to make myself sure that the problem was with his install. (I don't want to mention the tattooed guy's real name here as it would be a spoiler).
Only thing I can put my dirty little fingers on, is that it might need some work on the dialogue (imho that is).Could you be more specific? What was the problem (wording, grammar, overall style, ...)? This would help me a lot in my other mods and in the development of the (much longer) 'Grey Clan II: Black Superstitions' mod. :)
The fact that you got voice sets is also a major plus. It adds a whole new perspective to a mod, if it got some decent acting going onDid you like the voice acting by the way? Or did you refer to this as well when mentioning that the dialogues needed improvement? :)
olimikrig Sun, 11th Sep '05, 1:07am I hope his real name has appeared there instead of 'Tattooed Man', right?I ask this because another player had problems with that, so I would like to make myself sure that the problem was with his install. (I don't want to mention the tattooed guy's real name here as it would be a spoiler).[/Nope, he was just named 'tattooed man' :p .
Second battle = The one at FAI, right? Not really. It's was quite challenging that he became invisible when I hit him, healed himself, and summoned a hoard of those skeleton archer thingies (Can't recall the excact name!).
Hmm. I really ain't the right one to ask for bugs there. As I had tutu, I used chaos after the second time he became invisible and summoned those undead archer thingies. so he just sttod there, I snook up, backstabbed him and hit him a couple of times and down he went :shake: . this was, of course, somewhat cheesy, but it worked ;)
Could you be more specific? What was the problem (wording, grammar, overall style, ...)? Hmm. a little overall, and still. I'll just play it through again and point out some specific examples.
Did you like the voice acting by the way? Or did you refer to this as well when mentioning that the dialogues needed improvement? I really enjoyed it. The acting would get at least a B+ in my book. I loved the tattooed man's frenchy accent.
in the development of the (much longer) 'Grey Clan II: Black Superstitions' mod.I kind of figured that ;)
EDIT: I'll play it through a time or two, and send you a PM
Baronius Sun, 11th Sep '05, 4:06pm Second battle = The one at FAI, right? Not really. It's was quite challenging that he became invisible when I hit him, healed himself, and summoned a hoard of those skeleton archer thingies (Can't recall the excact name!)."Not really" what? Sorry I don't know what you answer by that. Do you mean that he was called "Tattooed Man" there in the FAI battle too (instead of "Grachus", which is his real name)? If yes, this is a bug!
It is weird, by the way, that he was affected by your Chaos! He should be immune to such magic -- at least to BG1 chaos...!
And how many times did he use Heal+Invisibility (this is the Blue Tattoo magic, by the way), approximately? :)
I really enjoyed it. The acting would get at least a B+ in my book. Thanks!! It was made by someone who has never done voice acting before (it would be me).
olimikrig Sun, 11th Sep '05, 4:11pm Not really as in there weren't any bugs that I know of.
Well, the first time I went through the mod, he did the healing thing twice, before I chaosed him and killed him. The second time I went through it he didn't do it at all. I don't know if it could be because I interrupted him everytime he tried to cast a spell (had -2/0 Thaco dual-wielding :shake).
First time he was only named 'tattoed man'. Second time he was name Grachus as he should, so it was an install problem.
