I discovered a mod in Gibberlings site about improving Sendai. I have Ascension so all of the five except Sendai are TOUGH but Sendai remains unchanged. With this mod I can upgrade her to be a worthy enemy to Ascension!

Do you reccomend it? Have you tried it? Is it compatible with TACTICS and IMPROVED BATTLES and ASCENSION?

I looked at the forum and saw that Improved Sendai is way too powerful!!! She has LOTS of TOUGH apprentices, and likes to cast TimeStop, ImprovedAlacrity (GOSH!) and multiple HARMS in TS. Her apprentices has lots of triggers, contingencies too! PLUS, in INSANE difficulty she permanently has IMPROVED ALACRITY always!!! NICE! A VERY HARD BATTLE! ISN'T IT?

Well I must confess I am afraid to play it on insane. Timestop:Harm combo is SOO VERY NASTY! My level14cleric dualled into mage level20+ can do it and it is devastating! In TS, harm is a guaranteed hit, no saving throw, only 1 HP left, and then usually death will occur when TS ends, and a good chance it is an irreversible death as well due to massive damage done to 1HP victim. (OH NO! L-O-A-D!!!)

ANY suggestions to be protected from HARM? Will Protectinon frm Magical Energy, Magical Wweapons, Stoneskin work?

Should I really try Improved Sendai on insane difficulty? What strategy you can offer?

Check out thetruth's thread for his take on battling Improved Sendai with a solo fighter (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/10/4058/3.html#000051). Generally, he seemed to think the mod was too extreme, owing to the huge number of apprentices that spawned in too small a space, and all the casting effects caused terminal slowdown!

But if you want to give it a go, by all means! YMMV, as they say. ;)

I can't beat Improved Sendai on Insane. :) Core or Normal (I forget which is which) is all.

UGH I read that forum. COOL beyond words, that is, to kill improved five with a solo fighter!!!

OK my party can do it too! THOUGH I guess I will try INSANE Sendai at first, to have a look, (and probably having my a** served to me) and then change the difficulty to core rules to be able to continue the game. (Is it THAT IMPOSSIBLE?) I now know that a non-magical weapon is essential at the very least. OH and lots of DEATH spells to kill heavy summonings fast. AND maybe a few Dragon-Breathes to disturb drow apprantices (it bypasses MR right?) OR lots of imprisonments if it gets too ugly. (Can I imprison Sendai's images?) (She casts 4 PROJECT IMAGES, my favourite combo!!!) (She does not get SI:Abjuration?) Also party must be invisible or be HARMed. ACH!

PS:Why doesn't SpellImmunity:Transmutation give immunity to feared TimeStop? SI:Abjuration protects from Imprisonment!

From what I have read you "can't" beat Sendai without cheating because your computer will blow up from the amount of stuff on the moniter. So I have heard. Most if any computer can not handle it so the game freezes or slows down to the point of physical pain at watching it. But I could be wrong.

Also I think time stop still effects you because SI/transmutation only protects you from magical effects directly interacting with you. Time stop directly interacts with the flow with time which eventually effects you but the magic itself is messing with time not you. Sort of like summoned creatures can hurt you despite SI/Summoning.

^OH NO that is what I fear MOST: Computer slow-downs and freezes! GASP! My PC (personal computer, NOT player character) is not the best so what? If I disable all of the magical effects and sounds etc. for the fight, will it work or is it the AI scripts that mostly use up CPU? I HATE it when my computer freezes/goes berserk in the middle of a long/hard fight. (happened before)

I've never had problems with my computer crashing in it. Though if you don't kill things fairly rapidly, you will find yourself facing a lot of enemies.

OK SO I think it is worth trying. Hope I will not be frustrated. This friday night I will kick Improved JonBon's a**(or try to do so in vain) (I will try until I win my soul back!!!) and I will be in ToB (hopefully) in the weekend. I will not rush, so I may not be able to see Sendai in a while.
