You know in Saldarush you can go to this wizard just above the Tavern and you can buy scrolls from him, but the trick is someone stole his spellbook and you gotta find it for him first? WEll, I found Hectan in the Tavern and well, even though I threatened him, I couldnt force him to confess or give the book. I tried to pick his pocket but they didn't deck Imoen out with the high pickpocketing points I gave her in SoA... so after threatening Hectan, I just let Sarevok cut him into many tiny pieces and picked up the book...

My question is... is there a better way to do this? Sure doesn't seem very nice to enter a tavern, threaten someone, and hack him into pieces...

You have prove to him that you know how he stole it. Hint: little foot prints were found at the scene of the crime.. and they were not cat prints (that was my first thought in the game..hehe)..

bigger hint: maybe talk to the KIDS playing near the tavern and the mage shop.. maybe that little girl knows something.......

So after doing it the way with the kids, who warned Hectan and who let him go ahead and get himself killed when he got the teleport scroll? ;)

If you dont warn him, you'll lose a rep point.

Why go to the trouble of investigating? Threatening to kill the thief works just as well. (Even if I wasn't completely sure he had the book :p) I'm sure you can guess I didn't warn him of the risks.

(I should play more often with evil parties, I enjoy it :) Or then I'm just fed up with helping others.)
