I noticed that Liches and High lvl mages are quite fond of casting Symbol spells. (mages in ToB cast TimeStop, SymbolStun, SymbolFear, than WoB)I also noticed that they cast Symbol spells different than my PC. Symbols are conjuration spells right? They cast it like an ABJURATION spell, with green casting glow and voice acting. (you all know different casting glows and voice sets for different schools right?) PLUS their symbols have different visual effect as well. Their symbols are crude like GlyphOfWarding (but less fancy) and it explodes into tiny material pieces while when I cast it it blasts in a MAGICAL look with transperent effect.

TRY it! You will see!

What do you think is the cause? DO enemy mages use different versions of spells? Is it more powerful maybe?

Maybe to differentiate between the party's Symbol spells and an enemy's.

^Maybe but I had summoned a lich via console and CTRL+Qed it to have a look at its magebook. His symbol spells had a different spell symbol on the book so I could not help but wonder if it is a different spell?

When enemies cast Symbol spells, they only affect their enemies - your party. When you cast them, they affect your party as well. Nice, eh? So they are different spells.

Really? Very Interesting, I remember a Mislead Lich cast a Symbol Spell and it stunned my party as well as himself! Really! We all stood there, in complete motionless, it was boring, only good fact is that his protection spells ran out by the time. It was in my unmodded and unexpanded game, as well as it can be a bug maybe? (maybe it was the mislead that was stunned I could not see the actual lich but he did not cast a spell though.)

That's strange. When I've managed to control a lich by Turn Undead I've looked at his spells and found a different spell icon. But I can't remember enemy mages EVER getting stunned by their own Symbol Stun even though it explodes right in their face. So I'm a bit puzzled right now.

There is one spell that turn back the spells from the mage that have that buff to the caster of the spell :wink: :roll: (i've killed my airie thousands of times forgeting for the buff that the cowored wizard's cast on them :roll: :dragon: )
But I Forgot the name of the spell :sad: :cry:

^(Minor) Spell turning? But AFAIK it does not turn area-effect spells like symbols and the like?
