Doomlord Fri, 1st Dec '00, 6:48pm I don't want to be offending but you were not supposed to kill dragons easily! with cloudkill.Taking advantage from a stupid AI is less than heroic so why don't you try to deal with Kangaxx fair and square?I'm sure you will be more satisfacted...
Orgrim Doomhammer Fri, 1st Dec '00, 7:11pm Give Korgan Crom and then put him in an Enraged state which makes him immune to the Demi-Liches imprisoment spell. Korgan will pound the lich to little pieces for you.
Immoral Fri, 1st Dec '00, 7:31pm I agree with DoomLord. Using the old line of sight glitch is just plain pathetic and cowardly. I am on a solo quest (that's a one character party for the less learned) and I will not cheat under any circumstances. It takes away all the fun of going toe to toe with a major bad ass like Thaxll'ssiyia (Shadow Dragon). But the game is all about having fun and we all have our own way of accomplishing that goal. So, if this inspires you to play it straight, good. If not, cheat away. Oh, and good tip there about Korgan, Ogrim.
Beorn Fri, 1st Dec '00, 11:53pm Now that we've got the obligatory flaming of cloud kill users out of the way...
If you're having that much trouble with him, you can always wait until you get back to Athkatla in chapter 6. That's when I usually take care of the tougher quests.
anybodey_9901 Mon, 4th Dec '00, 1:18pm No offense, but don't you think that your party is yet a "low" level party?
Try to fight him back at a later stage when your high enough and manageable (the same thing with the twisted rune quest)
:D
desperado Mon, 4th Dec '00, 3:04pm How to kill the dawn demi-lich at 12 level. Cast Invisibility 10' Radius on everybody. Then cast spell immunity (choose abjuration) on a mage and then have a druid or a mage cast as many fire elemental as they can. Try to bring it attention on your mage by attacking him with the staff of Rynn (buy it at the Adventurer's Mart; do 1-2 dmg on Kangaxx)and he will hopefully cast (useless) imprisonement spell on your mage while your Fire Elemental will hit him for 3-6 dmg per hit. Every party member was around level 12 when I eradicate him. For better result cast haste on your Fire Elemental. I try to hit Kangaxx with a Mass of Disruption +2 and I wasn't able to hurt him.
desperado Mon, 4th Dec '00, 3:08pm You can send me a Email here. (I forgot to enable everybody to view my email adress on my profile.)
Sir Phapylon Tue, 5th Dec '00, 4:48pm Im really tired of people who think they can tell everybody how to play the game the "heroic" way, who gives a **** how you play the game ? Heroic or not ?
If somebody has problems with an enemy and doesent want to try over and over again, then let them kill it however they want...
Ask yourself a question:
If you would stand in front of a Dragon IRL, what would you do.
1. Run at him with your wimpy sword
or...
2. Cast alot of spells to kill from a distance...
Only a Palladin would think twice about being heroic or not... there is something called common sense..
Sylvus Moonbow Tue, 5th Dec '00, 7:16pm Casting spells sounds great, but then being the brave warrior the *I* am, I would not have a wimpy sword!
Of course, having an array of offensive spells to cast at this dragon would be wonderful, just as long as
A) I could see him with my own eyes and he could see me.
B) There wasn't some fog or other type of fog blocking my view to the dragon and vice versa because as a brave warrior, I simply don't want to be cheap about it you know.
C) Someone in my existing party didn't spend two days setting traps around the dragon and have the dragon watch him do this while twiddling his thumbs.
D) It was a fair battle and I wasn't using any exploits that would make the battle seem cheap.
So then and only then would I use spells, but first thing comes first and that is my sword.

Septic Yogurt Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:01pm If the AI is stupid, then you have the right to use its fault to your advantage, you didn't pay Ģ35 (or whatever currency) to have AI faults, if they don't code it right, you don't have to play as if it was, blame it on the coders.
Sylvus Moonbow Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:09pm Well I suppose that's the easy way out, pointing the finger at anothers faults but certainly most gamers are above that and realize that being cheap on purpose isn't being much of anything.

Blackthorne TA Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:10pm I don't really care if you make the game easier for yourself; I used items such as the Cloak of Mirrors and Shield of Balduran after all...
I just don't see what fun it is to sit back, and watch the damage report in the battle text...
I had a LOT of fun running into the middle of all those Beholders and watching the fireworks! :)
Sylvus Moonbow Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:24pm That shield makes me sick. You should be ashamed Blackthorne TA! :)
Hehe.

Ragusa Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:29pm I agree, using scrolls of magic protection and spell immunity works fine. My favourite weapon for K. is the firesword +1 (for some reason I found morningstar to have no effect on K.). Either turn undead didnīt work.
However, I have to try the enraged stuff with minsc this time .... thanks for the hint Doomhammer.
Blackthorne TA Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:33pm Well, Syl I am really, but it was just so much fun running through there with the Shield and Boots of Speed watching half a dozen Beholder rays chasing me around corners, only to reflect back when they caught me! :) I almost bust a gut with laughter :)
Oh, and I'm talking about the Beholders in the Underdark, not the Unseeing Eye quest; I didn't have the Shield back then...

EternalPaladin Tue, 5th Dec '00, 8:55pm Well I really don't take a side on this issue, but I did want to say if you were, or ever have, played P&P D&D, the dragon would've known you were near its liar (by its amazing senses or magic). So I think truthfully everyone should be somewhat releived they can cheat (not that I am advocating, because I do not cheat). Dragons , along with Demiliches are by far one of the most difficult monsters to face, if all their abilities can be counted for.

Sorl Wed, 6th Dec '00, 11:37am For the shadow dragon you have that protection stone, so its gameplaywise acceptable to prepare n sleep right in fromt of him (except maybe for the sheer reek of him).
I haven't attempted any lizard yet but back from the asylum I'll have a 12/13 group with 5 spell casters, so I'll have Valygar sit back and watch the others beat shady into the ground with eye to eye magic  (maybe he can join in a sunray spell).
