They're not called Guilds, their real name is "Stronghold" (or at least that is what we refer to them as).
- Thieves get a Guild
- Bards get a Playhouse/Theater
- Mages/Sorcerers get a Planar Sphere
- Clerics get a place in their Church
- Druids get their own Druid Grove
- Rangers get a log cabin in the Umar Hills
- Paladins get a place in the Order of the Radiant Heart
- Fighters/Monks/Barbarians get the D'Arnise Keep, their own fort.

That's what each will get. They are the Class Quests (the major one for your character). You can do other classes'. For example, a thief could fight for the Druid Grove, but they could not rule over it. A Sorcerer could kill a dragon, but not get a place in the Order of the Radiant Heart.

Most Strongholds generate a small source of income.

Are any of those strongholds particularly good (or provide interesting follow-up quests)?

I've now done the d'Arnise keep and the Thieves' Guild, and the keep was much better. Are their any other classes particularly worth trying, just for the stronghold?

I would have to say that D'Arnise Keep is the best of the lot and the bard's playhouse is kind of fun to do (once - I imagine it would get tedious on the second try) but the others are fairly dull.

I thought the ranger and mage ones were kind of fun. The mage one isn't so good that it's worth taking one for that reason, though.

A lot of people like the pally one, I didn't.
